I’m 99% certain it’s the same Volkswagen Thing. I’ve worked on them before. Also if you look closing at the roll cage you’ll see it’s been damaged and just painted over.

"Clearly Devin is getting completely bored with this episode commentary..." 😂 In related news, this ep has one of my favorite K.I.T.T. quips in his exchange with Michael just before the ring of fire jump where Michael says "...as they say it show biz, break a leg", to which K.I.T.T. quips "In my case it's blow a tire", then he shifts into gear. I guess it's the delivery, but for some reason, this cracks me up.

That last scene with KITT pinning the guy against the wall is almost like a shout out to a scene in the movie Christine where the '58 jams it's way into a narrow dock to kill a guy who even has a similar build.

I have been really enjoying these commentaries. Knight Rider started airing in Finland in 1984 and I remember watching it then, I was about 6-7 years old. I haven't seen it since and it have been fun to go through there episodes.

I really hope you'll consider doing another live premier of "Knight of the Juggernaut" like you did with "K.I.T.T. vs. K A.R.R." It is the last of the big two hour "event" episodes and, as you said, easily the best episode of season 4. I think it would be great for everyone to get together and watch live.

9:37 Always wondered why Devon suddenly has a cane as no one mentions it. Wonder if Edward Mulhare had a problem with his leg or something and this may be partly why he only has a couple scenes in "Junk Yard Dog", filmed a couple episodes after this one. Or if he has the cane after the clown knocked him out from behind.

been loving all of these episode guides looking forward to the last season now I remember watching Knights of the juggernaut and I was very upset when kitt got destroyed but look lovely when he got rebuilt thank you joe for your brilliant guide and descriptions on screen because obviously I’m registered blind thank you for all your great work and describing what’s going on even with all your car tours and Sam I truck thank you mate

What is interesting is that in Japan _Knight Rider_ was transliterated as ナイト・ライダー, but season 4 was titled 新ナイト・ライダー (shin naito raidaa) with shin meaning new. Season 4 is where the LED that read *Normal Cruise* in K.i.T.T. was shortened to *Normal* except in scenes where it showed K.I.T.T. in Auto Cruise and David Hasselhoff got his hair cut really short.

You were right about the stock footage, the scene just before the one you show with the kids getting cotton candy shows a partial Arkansas license plate, from what I can figure out it looks to be from between 1963 and 1976.

I have watched every single episode commentary that you have made so far. I think it would be cool if you gave a prize to every person who watches every episode commentary once you finish at the end of season 4. In the '80s, you could earn a patch by getting a high score in Atari games. How about a knight rider historian patch for watching all the commentaries. Not sure how a person could prove it though, just a funny thought I had.

This was pretty good and fun episode and if I recall correctly, here in Finland, KITT car was touring with Circus Finlandia in summer of 1987. Sadly I didn't get the chance to go and see KITT there.

22:55 It's a Type 181. You could compare this car with the two other cars in yellow by looking at its taillights. They must be either flat or shaped as "elephant feet" as you can see here. Elefantenfüße is the nicknamed version of the taillights from the Volkswagen "Käfer" or Beetle in its last versions in the late Seventies .

This maneuver from Buzz is really cool...and then we see Jack walking there like he needs to go do some shopping. All really great. Perfect timing. Well, the scanner was supposed to be always on. But to me it is ok. It makes it more realistic. KITT, sometimes, making a scanning pause. That Turbo Boost was just beautiful. The description of Joe's accident doesn't sound that accurate. It becomes hard to know how bad it was. Well, it's true and I'm surprised how come they made that mistake. But it's done. Then in the end another great piece of art. Perfect synchronization, four different cars used. Excellent. The Knight of the Juggernaut is the episode that made us think Season four would smash the entire world. It didn't turn out that way. As I commented last year, if we had more seasons...but it is what it is. There were cool episodes and some kind of "routine" episodes. Of course, then we have "Scent of Roses" and "Killer KITT". Thanks for all the commentaries over every episode, Joe.

There are a few episodes that most of us ignore when watching the DVDs, but like this one, there is always something to appreciate. This is one of those episodes that is better than I remember. I love the strobing lights they put on Kitt, and did they run them around the edges of the rubber shell? It sure looks that way. They must've been high voltage given the year - they didn't have low consumption LED lights. Kitt, don't turn off the engine. Those lights will kill the battery. Too late, Goodboy Moycul. Zzzt.

The original sculpted nose had much nicer lines than the Barris nose with the straight lines which looked ta bit fake to me and still does.

Transmission shift scene - I saw something else, at least I’m 90% sure I did. I think the earlier Trans Ams and all kits had a top button shifter. In that scene he is shifting it as a side button shifter used in later model Trans Ams. At least that’s the way it looks to me.

Regarding the blue/green screen: It has to have something to do with the lightening. This looks to be a IBM (or clone) PC. Color wasn't really a thing at that point in time. Regular px screens were green, cyan or white. Maybe I am wrong and they disguised another computer as a pc. Thanks for the cool videos!!!

First of all thank you for all the efforts. Yes you wrote books about that already many years ago (and one also found its way to me) but still this is a lot of work cutting out all the scenes worth talking about, creating the text and so on. And this for every episode… So thanks again also for keeping the childhood also alive in our adult years without destroying the „magic“ of the childhood memories. Now one question to season three but the beginning. The Knight of the Drones started with the „re-recording“ of „Torture“ by the Jacksons. There is a photo of the Jacksons posing with different cars and Michael Jackson actually using Kitt. Was there some kind of „promotion contract“ or was it just because Michael (Jackson) was also a fan of Kitt? Is it known which Kitt was used for the photo? (Now I hope I didn’t miss it and you already explained this in some other video…) Thanks again! :-)

I can't believe that we've got through three seasons. I may have to save up the season four episodes and ration them. One small point. The orangutan playing "Bang" is almost certainly a female, which may explain her flirtatious behavior. Male orangutans have wide, protruding cheek pads. I know what you're thinking; Dr. Zaius was just not anatomically correct. Male orangutans are also very aggressive and would be difficult to work with.

And now I'm finally caught up with all the commentaries, and I can watch them as more come out. Thank you for doing these. I know the writing, recording, taking screen shots, and editing must take a while to do. These are very much appreciated. So, when you're done with Season 4, are you on to TKR or the Ford reboot? ;-) I would honestly watch those through the lens of your knowledge of the lore to see how bad they miss the mark and when they actually feel like a KR show.

So glad you pointed out that editing mistake switching gears. It has always annoyed me too. Like how can you make a mistake like that?? Knight of the Juggernaut is what introduced me to Knight Rider in syndication on USA in the 90s. First episode I saw and it's what got me hooked. I started as a kid in season 4 then going back to the Pilot. No DVDs back then. I just knew after Voodoo Knight aired we were going back to the beginning.

I noticed something interesting at 10:39. It's picture of Kitt with Bonnie,Devon, the orangutan, and some of the circus preformers standing in front of Kitt. Of course you are just using the picture to tell us which Kitt car it is. But anyway the interesting thing I noticed is Devon or Edward Mulhare is standing with a cane. It looks a lot like Garth Knight's cane gun from both Goliath episodes. (Side note in Goliath returns commentary you didn't mention the only time someone, a lady who works at f.l.a.g. , besides the main cast called Michael from the foundation on the video phone.) Anyway do you know if that cane Devon was using was a prop and possibly the one Garth or the Hoff(lol. Sorry got carried away) used or if it was a real cane Edward was really using for a minor injury or some other reason?

I think the motorhome belonged to Universal. I've seen that same motorhome, with its distinctive round door window (at 15:39), in several other TV shows. I remember it being on a sitcom, maybe Just the Ten of Us (?), where the characters went on vacation and the motorhome with the round door window was used for all the interior shots.

How did they tint the windows on KITT? Did they always have to put the foil on and off the windows? That would be a lot of work just for maybe one scene. Or did they have extra „sheets“ to stick on the real windows?

I do like this one,had great action,as you say particularly at the end...quite agree the Turbo was brilliant,if you look close at KITT lands,Jack bobs up and down due to his bungee harness which suspended him to save his back from the impact...also back at the Turbo through the fire ring..watch the guy in the red/black checked shirt sitting close to Bonnie..he,in a blink of an eye, is sitting with Bonnie,then he's sitting away from her,then he's back and so on...and finally,my all time burning question....Why Why put the S1 dash in another KITT car,especially a car that is used often it was so clearly seen.?.love to have that answered... Anyways,wow 3 seasons downJoe,it amazing..looking forward to KOTJ..it's a goody,and your car features a great deal...tske care

Anoother great commentary! The jump car at the end must have been visibly damaged landing so they did the trick landing with another car. Any production notes on the cars regarding those ending stunts? Also, for anyone who hasn't seen the ending battle with the flamethrower car, check it out on the Knight Rider channel. They did a great job with that sequence and all the fire and stunt driving

Good commentary as usual!! It still bothers me that KITT is supposed to "preserve human life" or "not to anything to jeopardize a human life" but yet he takes out the flame thrower with a "human" on the back of it.

I never realized they used so many cars to film these episodes until I started watching this channel. I am curious though, why they switched cars around so much (hero car to insert car to special edition kitts). Why not just keep each car for it's own purpose and fix/update as needed?
