Hello beautiful couple💖. This is so nice to see your beautiful, smiling faces.💖 We are very happy to see you doing well. We love these yummy foods and hope that one day we will try them.🙏💖 Lots of love to both of you💖
Yep patties tomato sauce is one of the most kiwi iconic foods. Brian, wstties is a New Zealand brand, definitely not australian. It may be manufactured in the west island now but it's still a kiwi brand.
Oh my The White Hart![ Went to boarding school in NP] Hubbie travelled for work in 70'snd always stayed there. One night he had just got to sleep when they started closing the windows downstairs in the bar. All the way down a very long room.Slam ! slam! Slam! He put his head out the window to ask could they please be a bit quieter. The window was closed and immediately smashed to smithereens! Also stayed there once for a wedding and the mattress was still an old kapok one with a large dip in the middle.Spent the whole night squashed in the middle.Happy Days!!
Hahaha! What a great story, Penny! I would have loved to have seen it back in the 70's... Sounds like our mattress...when we rented our house out two years ago the hubby of the lady was a six-foot massive rugby guy...when we came home Bri's side of the mattress was almost on the floor. Mine on the other hand is so off set I almost touch the ceiling...😳😂 Lots of love x
What a crazy beautiful view....and the mountains not bad either !! 😉 You two look and sound great! Thanks alot....now I'm hungry lol. Food good!! I love that in New Zealand you have all these amazing cafe's rather than the fast food chains in North America.
Oh Liz and Bri my mouth is watering…..makes me want to take a trip to New Plymouth. Thank you for bringing us laughter and light. You’re a New Zealand treasure you two. Arohanui Tracy
I am craving those yummy foods in your video. When I came to visit I loved the bakeries. I tried all of the pies (being a typical "lass from the North of England." Love you Lizzie and Brian. Great video as always ❤ xx
When Eva, Mei and I first arrived in New Zealand, the BNZ teller recommended Alexa Cafe. When i couldn't find it on my phone, she spelled it and I realized she was saying Elixir with her Kiwi vowels :)
One day when we visit NP we’ll go have the gooy cheese goodness, and some crunchy, grainy 😉 Watties covered hot chips. The mountain looks beautiful today, she’s definitely showing off.
Hehe! You do that! 😉💕 Yes…it is a moody morning today (Tuesday) but still, that patch of pale baby blue and her snow kissed head peeking out from underneath… simply soothing xx
Chicken and chips from 4 square are great, especially stopping at Waverley on the way home from New Plymouth , or the Aramoho 4 square in Whanganui are also good.
Oh my god. Im a kiwi about the same as Brian I have never seen or even heard of a 4 square selling hot chips 😮 im probably the only kiwi in the world that doesn't like tomato sauce any brand i vinegar with my chips you have to dip them though not pour on nothing worse than soggy chips you're bang on with the chicken salt though absolute must. 4 square aye who new.
I am so hungry 😫 now and glad there was no pie involved. We enjoy Kings plantbarn foods and More Pork at Kumeu. Wish I can meet the 2 of you in person, cause you make my day. Have a enjoyable 😉 weekend. Love Marlène (from Bethellsbeach)
Hello lovely, Marlene! Always an absolute pleasure to see you here with us 🥰 Thank you for you kindness and we'll be sure to get the pie standing by for the next video 😂 Lots of love my friend, Liz xx
Oh dear Liz and Bri, I did enjoy that! I fear food is my downfall! Confession time. Yesterday I went to the local Co op to get some healthy salad (which I did) BUT then I spotted a pack of hot cross buns, reduced to 88p. 88p for 6 buns! That's less than 2 dollars I think. It had to be done.... So for breakfast today, I had 2 buns, slathered in butter, and I relished every mouthful! And feel truly comforted and not a bit guilty! With love, and keep enjoying those comforting treats. xxx
Another great watch! I am salivating here thinking of all that yummy food. When I visited you all in N.Z. I was first in the queue at the fantastic bakeries. Mmmm those delicious varieties of pies. (Reet up my street being a "lass from the North of England." Sending love as always ❤ xx Les xx
Loved this one, you're both great ambassadors for the Naki & NZ. When I was a kid I would make my own whitebait net get up super early & go whitebaiting in the Whakatane river for 2-3 hours, I may only get 20-30 individuals, never ever got a good run of them like some of my mates, then go home & ask Mum nicely if she could make me a fritter, now that's dedication.
Now that sounds like the dream childhood, Richard! 🥰🇳🇿 Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your story with us! Have a great weekend! Liz and Bri
Great vid guys, I was over there for a wedding last year, and my son asked if I was keen on a feed of pies, if you're in Auckland, you have to check out the Blue Rose Cafe in Sandringham, they sell the best pies I've ever had, hands down, they have the usual pies, but I go for pacific and maori ones. Pulusami and cornedbeef, hangi, smoke fish....the list goes on. It's my go-to place when I'm there.
Glad you enjoyed it, Sam! I have made note of the cafe in Auckland and will put it in the chat of our NZ community, they are always talking about where to get a good pie 🥧 Have a lovely weekend, Sam 😊 Liz and Bri x
You can buy chicken salt at the supermarket, its a goodie, we also have a local butcher (Aussie Butcher New Lynn). Reuben is a top bloke and has great steak, my son loves that they sell 2kg bags of curly fries. He cooks them in the air fryer and tops with chicken salt, delish and cheap as chips. lol. Thanks guys. much love as always.
Thanks for the tip, Anna! And a big shout out to Reuben the Aussie butcher in new Lynn 😃 Thank you as always for joining us, Anna, we hope you have a wonderful weekend 🥰 Liz and Bri x
Simple fare I chase down when visiting NZ, thick slices of Vogels bread toasted and oozing with Manuka honey. If the time of year is right, new season Jersey Bennie potatoes from North Otago. If I am prepping the food, two for them five for me, then double that amount so there will be enough for fry ups the next day.
Whenever I feel sad, I buy country fried chicken from the Port Chalmers dairy wirh chips, chicken salt and tomato sauce (or maybe just a kiwi hotdog on a stick with chips and sauce). Still think the best kiwi comfort food is a proper roast (pork or lamb for preference - or turkey if you can get it), with meat cooked perfectly, stuffing, home made gravy, roast and boiled new potatoes (if in season) parsnips, (real) yams, peas and carrots. Then what's even better is you make a pie out of all the leftovers! My daughter's favourite meal is 'roast pie', lol ❤ I would love to host you in Dunedin with roast or roast pie - it's comfort on a plate ❤
Bri, if you are every in Orewa, you have to go visit the keto cafe, called Keto by D. People come from all over NZ to try her stuff. All keto, gluten and dairy free. Pies, pizzas and desserts. And all delish.
Thanks for the video. 2-3 months ago, I was browsing New Plymouth food & lodging for a potential 1-2 week stay late this year. Totally missed your first two places. Do you have any upcoming videos on places to stay in New Plymouth? Glad I now qualify for a retirement visa. Hope to make a return visit to NZ to see if it is as I remember it.
Hi there! Thank you for you message, we are so glad you liked the video! We don't have a videos of where to stay but there is the Novotel (that is quite new) and also the Nice hotel (which is a boutique accommodation). Also check the Airbnbs in New Plymouth. Hope this helps and we hope enjoy your stay in New Plymouth! 😃
Thank you lovely people! Maybe a visit to NP is in order, to sample at least one of your suggestions! Am spending my second day just out of Wellington, in my Sprinter, freedom camping, after getting off the ferry. One of those times, after visiting my only grandchildren, my youngest son, in Chch, catching the ferry and crossing the Strait, that I just want to take some time out. Just breathe. So I could do with something to buck up the spirit a little 🍦🍟🥫🌮🥪🥙.🦋🐞💐 🙋🏼♀️🚐
Hugh Macdonald, the director of "This is New Zealand" passed away a couple of weeks ago and his funeral is tomorrow morning. I will be making a renewed effort to have this film screened in the Taranaki Cinemas that are still screening films.
Watties was 100% Kiwi as it was created by James Wattie in 1934. It merged with Goodman Fielder which was then bought by the H. J. Heinz Company of the USA, which has since merged with Kraft, another US company. So Kraft Heinz own Watties which is still manufactured in NZ. I prefer the NZ recipe to the American one so it's always Watties for me.
Brian, how dare you say that Watties is Australian. No way Jose, Watties was always in Bay of Plenty and is totally Kiwi. However, it was taken over by Heinz.
@@ItsaDrama I was watching it from my desktop pc yesterday so this morning I decided to watch it again from my phone and it looked perfectly okay. So the issue is definitely with my computer screen lol. Sorry about that.
