Maryland guy here. Great to see someone giving the “Godamned KIX Band” some props. My singer took vocal lessons from Steve for years. I wish that we had cell phones back 8n the 80s, so I could upload a bunch of the boys throwing down @Hammerjacks. If you dig Kix, check out the other great Md bands that also never got their dues; Childs Play, Wrathchild America, Charm City Devils, Clutch
They are maybe the most underrated band of all time. Yeah they do play a lot of songs from the first album Yeah yeah yeah, the itch, atomic bombs...etc. I don't care for punk too much maybe that's why I had it lower. I guess my age too being exposed to the "hair metal" era more as I started when it was still at the tail end of the movement. Yeah I know Child's Play Brian Jack was so underrated (RIP) and John Allen the drummer also formed CCD. They played at Cruefest I think one year. WA was wicked good Shannon Larkin what else can you say Godsmack hate lol but he can jam WA and UKJ were awesome. I forgot to mention in this video that Brad played with Kix. Clutch is probably the most popular of these bnads I seen their albums but I've never listened to them.
Nah, KIX the debut was. That should’ve made them a household name. They still play many off that one to this day. Midnight is polished & should’ve pushed them over the top. Blow was good but Hot Wire was better. Show Biz was good but more of an AC/DC tribute. I’ve been to more of their shows than anyone. NOBODY except the DLR era VH could top their stage performance. Even now, 40 yrs after their debut. Donnie, when he was still in, was the most hardcore bass player ever in a rock band. You would’ve thought he was in a hardcore punk band.
@@brianallen8091 Yeah I love the debut too. I've been back and forth between that and Cool Kids as my faves but they are easily the 2 best for me. I prefer Cool Kids just a little more because IMO every song on that album is good. There is no skipping any songs when that one goes in the CD deck. Reckless Blood is a stone cold hard rocking classic. Body Talk is one of the best songs they ever did. Burning Love is the coolest song ever recorded and For Shame is their best ballad. Nice on Ice, Love Pollution. Get Your Monkeys, Cool Kids all good, even Mighty Mouth and Loco-emotion aren't bad. I know the band hates it, especially Steve but when I was in 7th grade you literally weren't a "cool kid" if you didn't have that on cassette. They should be proud of that album. Those first 2 albums had a very original sound that I love. From Midnight on, the production just screams hair metal. They were still great albums but those first 2 records still sound fresh while the other ones sound dated to the mid/late 80's, just haven't aged as well to me. Contrary Mary is a lost gem off the debut album. Love that song along with Atomic Bombs, Yeah Yeah Yeah and The Itch. Cool tunes!
Poison was awesome. Kix was acdc with keyboards. Amazing bands. Girl money is one of the most bad ass rock n roll songs of all times. Dont worry about the subscribers my man. If you film it, they will come. You'll be pulling in a cool mill in no time bro!
They don't use keyboards a few songs of there's take cool kids album and tear down the walls intro and the last song on show business but they don't have them in concert or use them just pure old fashioned Kix rock and roll. Girl money is so catchy deserved to be a much bigger hit. Thanks I have 100 now took a while. I think it's because it's not really up to date stuff and no fancy intro or editing but I am just real I don't rehearse I just film and go haha
Everyone always says MD is the best. I like it but I guess since I'm younger I liked the ones after more. I have a Steve Whiteman signed midnite dynamite LP though!
I don't know how you could even rank Kix. All of their songs and albums are amazing and there is no band that could beat any of them😂🥰 Kix is just the best
It wasn't easy well the first few I like quite a bit less than the others but you're right you can't go wrong even cool kids has some good tunes on it.
Good content! It would be tough for me to rank them because I love them all but I will agree with many and say that Hot Wire is the best. I know Show Business never had a chance because of timing, but I think Book to Hypnotize deserves more recognition. I would rank it in my top 5 favorite Kix songs from the entire collection. And finally as a side note, anybody that has not heard Funny Money needs to check them out. Look up Wrapped Around You, and imagine that tune being released on Blow My Fuse. It would have been huge!!!
Thank you! Sorry haven't been commenting or updating just been traveling a lot lately. Yes HW is probably their strongest release. I do know Funny Money and that song. I have back again signed by Steve on Vinyl. It's a little different than Kix sound wise. I also heard his new album it is similar to Funny money kinda. He was saying they're planning on making at least one more album fingers crossed 🤞
Definitely AC/DC sound especially Show Business Fireballs gets so AC/DC-like it's nearly copied lol. They're amazing live and always sound amazing. One of the most underrated bands ever.
Thanks for sharing. Kix doesn't get enough love, IMO, They're one of those bands with a great catalog, but aside from their major hit, suffered from bad timing, as grunge pretty much overwhelmed any chance to follow through. In any case, here is my ranking, although outside of the last song, I could easily switch most of them. 7 Cool Kids 6 Can't Stop the Show 5 Debut 4 Hot Wire 3 Midnite Dynamite 2 Show Business 1: Blow My Fuse
Show Business is really underrated and very diverse. Yeah damn grunge killed all their momentum even today they are excellent live and still among the best out there. Hoping for one more final album one day.
Didn't know the generators name it sounds like a hardcore punk band. They did steal all their moves but all these decades later Kix always delivered live while Poison was okay sound wise it was the same damn set haha 😄
I have a major question, on The Headbangers ball they played Judas Priest Painkiller, and I cannot find that original video anywhere. It's the one where in the beginning they're going down the freeway listening to the radio and he's playing the drums on some girls legs
The only thing I can think of is they released a painkiller VHS so I bet that original video is on there. There are a few on discogs for sale right now.

I can't put them in order but I do agree with Cool Kids being the worst. It is an amazing album but since it was kinda more pop and covers, Im not as into that one but Loco emotion, Restless Blood and Nice On Ice are amazing
You should have seen Kix nack in the 80s. First you have to understand the record companies dictated the sound. Live the are much harder. The first lp is awesome live.
I wish I could have living today is bloody awful. I've seen them play about half of it and I'm sure that's the case. Many bands the record companies force bands to play what's the flavor of the month like some bands made grunge albums. It's all about money they could care less what bands like to play.
