Here is a video the shows the KL203 linear amplifier bought from 88radios and another kl203 linear amplifier bought directly from RM Italy. This test is going to show you which Kl203 linear amplifier is real or a fake knockoff.
If you're going to trash a company why not actually do the test right and order units yourself then compare.. I know others who have units from 88 and they seem to work fine and within specs.. I have a KL503HD that does over 300 watts all day and does not even get warm unless you long talk it... I find your methods lacking.
That's not how to measure PEP watts. And driving these horrible little amplifiers as hard as that, have you any idea a how dirty the output is with harmonics?
I have a red KL203 (no P) rel. 5.0 from 2003. It produces about 130W PEP. BTW, I think your meter is on AVG. The needle falls back too fast. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be cautious about the fakes.
I have a kl 203 p I have changed the power cable for some 30 amp stuff and soldered the the fuse holder together as it doesn't let the amp draw enough current and put the fuse at the power supply side also cut a bit out the metal backplate and added a small fan that's blowing cold air in the amp and over the fins and mine is hitting 250watts pep I got this info from one of Mr bbi,s videos and my amps been kicking it for over 8 years now with no issues. But I do think it's a bit of luck if you get a good amp or not some just put out more power than others
that is just a first generation rm italy, the first generations had the mosfets sanded off which were simply irf520s. When they finally found a supplier to badge their own transistors that is now what you see in the newer boxes. The reason why this 88radios kl203 is doing less watts is either because the capacitor you replaced is out of tolerance, or something else on the board got smoked when that capacitor failed. Another note is that Ive worked on a handful of these that were purchased from copper and all of them had different power outputs from 130-200 watts
I have 3 203`s here with burnt out fuses. I put in a new fuse and push to talk and POW the fuse blows. Fu*@ing China. Is there a way to fix these amps? Or throw them out...
I have one of the first gen blue ones with the sanded fets that does 200-225 peak. They are simply DIRT CHEAP kickers that work well for the price but quality control isnt so great because it is such a CHEAP AMP
The amp without preamp is like the one I have and does about 120 watts which i always thought to be correct with my setup. 100 watts amp 20 watts radio. Don't see how your getting the 180 or so out if the transistors are the same in both. Ghost watts? preamp shouldnt cause a higher reading.
