Thanks a lot to The Spa Studios for the opportunity! I loved the whole experience from start to end. By the way, the scenes shown at 3:22 are not mine, they were made by the awesome Alvise Zennaro and Ole Christian Løken respectively. I learned a lot from them, as well as from the rest of the incredible team.

With a studio as open to showing the behind the scenes as this, I don't think you'll run out of content for years to come. As usual, great insight!

This have to be the best "how to draw a character " video i've ever seen! He's really going deep into the design, and the rules, really good tips to know when designing a character for animation. Greatly appreciated! Would (as always) love more!

I love what he says about the shapes of a drawing, they don't have to look "logical" or be constructed with logic, but they have to be nice and fun to look at and in the end thats the most important. I take that advice from this class, thank u a lot!

Thanks for sharing this! I feel like not many animators share the fact that they struggle with consistency, even though I personally find it very difficult

Please mind that this is especially applicable when you jump on a production that is already in crunch time, like those cleanup artists I was talking to. They were put under great pressure since day one, as they were called to help in the very last stretch of the schedule. As an animator, if you have the luck to start at the beginning of a production and there is no pressure (which is a very rare situation) I absolutely recommend you try and learn the character by heart, so that during your rough pass you are not constantly distracted by checking model files and so on and you can just focus on the performance. But yes, it is crucial to have at least the model beside your drawing so that you can compare it constantly, and try to find the connections between the main construction points. The relationship between those points has to stay consistent even in extreme poses/expressions. Hope this helps :)

This really helps sir, thank you so much and my apologies for my late response. May I ask a question about how to improve on the basics shapes, fundamentals, perspective and apply it to my Character and learning Anatomy?
@alfredocassano3194
@alfredocassano3194 3 года назад
@@AndrewThePoet try and trace back characters that you like, just finding the simple shapes that form them and study the proportions. A bit like reverse engineering, from final drawing to its construction. But the main advice is practice, practice, practice, especially from real life. Some say that after 10000 hours of practice you become a master in anything, so choose your goal and work hard!

It's it okaynif I know what brushes you used? Are they a custom brush or a default brush that comes with harmony?

Did you guys ever think of using Blender Grease Pencil, OpenToonz,or Krita?
@alfredocassano3194

Harmony was the final choice in this case. Maybe in the future? Softwares always change and nobody knows what will be the best in a few years. It also depends a lot on the style, so we'll see :)
