In college I was a night watchman in a warehouse overnight and would hook up the PA system to echo Klaus throughout the building especially on starlit nights making my rounds, listening, and gazing at the stars through the skylights. What a job... what an artist

@@intramentalstudios5573 It was an overnight security job at a sugar warehouse. Id come in, study, put the music on, make rounds, and open a lawn chair to look up at the stars with Klaus providing the ambience in a dark echoing environment or put on Stars End radio wxpn. Ahhh bliss!!!

One of Klaus’ defining characteristic is his ability to make eerie otherworldly music without it sounding like a dark and sinister piece that belongs in a horror film. Instead his music has the quality of the unknown, the anxieties and hopes we feel living in a mysterious universe. He takes us on a journey that isn’t meant to lull us into ambient bliss but rather challenges us to explore new creative worlds in our minds that inspire wonder but also gives us a sense that where we’re going might not be a utopian space age fantasy but perhaps something better- something beyond our earthly understanding.
@Dustrauma

That's an incredible feat to visualize. I clicked-on the eye-candy of the thumbnail just a moment ago and read this comment, like I haven't lived my days writing electronic music beyond the rapture of a sanctified respite for my restless soul. Perhaps from a creative perspective on finding a sense of purpose or belonging to one's art, music like this can aptly invoke a yearning for something beyond the humanistic limitations of what drives that creation forward... And forget the boundaries of possessing it altogether with the compartmentalizing idolatry that such imposed limitations can bind for a perceptual paradigm. But I agree. I think the music is pretty badass :D

I coincidentally (?) discovered Klaus just following the recommendations just now. I like reading the comments under the albums like this. There's so much life in them. I never commented anything on youtube but decided to make my debut here. I'm a DJ and a drug addict. I hate the second part about myself. I feel stuck. Sometimes I forget why I have stepped into DJing. Music is the thing that brings me to the state of the Universal (God's) confession. This is the thing that makes me feel like I'm in a movie and that I'm alive at the same time. Karl hasn't cured me but made me feel that again for this hour and a half. I have a lot of thoughts right now. And all of them are bright. Thank you and rest in peace, Karl. And thank YOU for reading.

Discovered Klaus Schulze in the 1970s by accident and have been hooked on this kind of music ever since. It seems to negate my A.D.D. and puts me into a zone of total concentration. Came in handy for studying, doing boring assignments, and even housework. Even good for insomnia. Another great artist of my generation ..... gone, but not forgotten.

I’m still cautious about music like this. It does something deep in the mind that its hard to be aware of, and it has parallels to some drugs from the sounds of it, stimulating the synthesis of such chemicals by your body I guess. It doesn’t appear to cause much harm, but it might take you away from concerns in your life that were worth being concerned about. Some things you can let go of but there’s always some grounding needed in life, and too much of a good thing can take that away I guess.

Irreplaceable - the soul of electronic music... I remember listening to Jean-Michelle Jarre "Oxygène" when it came out in 1976, forty six years ago. I was blown away. Then somehow I got a copy of Klaus Schulze's Timewind, and I was forever changed. I have listened to KS every day since. Every year the release of a new album was like a gift from a best friend. I never saw you in live in concert, how I wished I was there... Thank you Mr. Schulze for making my life a more fulfilling one!

last year was my freshman year in library science, here in maceió(brazil), i used to play this on my phone whilist going back home at night in the bus, i always get the ones with longer routes and late at night its easier go get empty busses, so i just listen to it while glancing at the buildings going by as i approach the downtown area and the cars and the people, i'm not from the city, i grew up in the countryside, so even if was a solid 2 years living here, i still found myself glancing at the metropolis like i've never seen it before, and this... dude... this is the soundtrack to that Klaus and some other artists, should i mention them, Cuevox, Ex Aquis, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Shako-Pani and DJ Marky inspired me to start making my own songs, my own soundtracks. ... jeez i hate covid, stay safe you muffins

For me, blasting GitS soundtracks or ambient music while riding random bus routes in the summer months when the sun never really sets is a big big mood. What a mystical piece of music this is. Surely, Klaus must have had a very deep and metaphysical role to play in the success of TD in the first place back in the early 70's. The music blends into the background of the mind and stimulates whatever the listener is focusing on, such that it almost feels like subliminal magic. KS had this way of making Berlin school music like this that ear wormed it's way into your consciousness whether you were paying attention or not. So many many times I'd put on a KS album and get utterly lost in space and time to it, hypnotised by its beauty only to snap back to reality when the absence of music hits at the end. Sometimes I wouldn't realise it ended and just be in something like a soporific state. He did sequencer music like very very few others.

I would say this is the Mirage of the 2000's, but then again, whenever I switch to another like Eternal or Virtual outback, or Moonlake, or Klangart, or Vanity, ION, Shadowlands or the Ballet CDs, the Farscape, on and on and on....... it NEVER ends. But thankfully there is so much Klaus Schulze to choose from. His is music is so freaking badass. I rest my case. IMO unlike Froese who became "commercial" he stayed true to his roots

Ruhe in Frieden Klaus.

I dig this so much. Reminds me of a merry go round of thought and experience. My brother and I sat listening to this with the lights low and we both agreed it feels very ancient. I was seeing the rise and fall of roman society. I love history so I closed my eyes and imagined a time line of people ebbing and flowing to this music. Great societies rising only to disappear by the sands of time. :)

Klaus Schulze tracks 'The Wizard Of Doz and 'Are We Getting Lost?' 'Happy lockdown' (Before this phrase gets trademarked). You can just see the birth of a brand new card in shops soon - can't you? Take care.

I think your shoes fits me too!! I started with Tangerine Dreams "Stratosfear" already back in 76 as a kid myself, and was hooked on those strange sounds. I followed the romatic synth-scene in the early 80's, and then got to know your preferences very well in the late 80's . I still kept listening to TD during this time, maybe not so much, but really picked it up again in the mid 90's. I decided to "study" their composistions in chronological order to se where these guys "came from", and what they brought to the table so to speak, and what the common end product was and then again see how they evolved over the years . Of course I had to crossreference the music with their contemporarys like KS here, and O'boy was I blown away when I heard Irrlicht for the first time. And I was totally taken by surprise to find out that it was an organ-piece - no synths involved. Wooooowww!!! I'm stil studying these groups, and I fear I will never be finished. Layers upon layers of music designed to let your mind drift away and play your own internal movie as it goes along. These days I'm also hooked on this particurlar KS album, and I've grown quite fond of Euro Caravan. The first 10 minutes of soothing sounds and these strange lyrics and vocalization (reminds me of Lisa Gerrard from time to time), and then the sequencer kicks in and totally change the mood... Woow. I was shocked when I heard those bouncing/plopping sounds that occures ca 1 min into the drumpart - they're so crispy an clear and really kicks you in the b...s!! I had to test this particurlar piece with those plopping sounds at a lokal Hi-end Hi-Fi-store. Got it tested on a Pro-ject Xtension 9 Evolution recordplayer, through a Hegel H30 poweramp and got my balls totally crushed and my bowels twisted from the sound that came out of those monstrous B&W 800 D3 speakers... If you try such a hig-end solution and play this piece, you'll want to sell your car, your wife, your dog etc just to get these monsters in your living-room and forget the world when you dive into the wonderful musical universe of Klaus and the Tangs!!! The best recommendable things to do in these quarantine-times....

I discovered electronic music while listening to a great radio station in the 1970s. WGTB was a student run FM radio station out of Georgetown University in Washington, DC. The station also played reggae, punk, and other music that I heard nowhere else. That is where I learned of Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schultze, Brian Eno, Mike Oldfield and others. I was immediately intrigued by the sound and warmed to it. Quite a contrast to the other music on FM radio at the time, for sure. Thank goodness for RU-vid. I can find all the music from my old albums and stream them in my car and at the office. Great music to have playing in the background while working. I do miss the fun of going to the record store, reading liner notes, sometimes getting a poster, and album art.
