Idc what anyone says, these klearvue cabinets are the most confusing and annoying cabinets on the market. There’s absolutely no need for the million tiny pieces, screws, etc to assemble simple cabinets. Putting these together is maddening
I also would like to thank you for creating this video. It saved me SO much time when putting drawers together yesterday, and once you do the tall drawer, the others are a piece of cake!!
Joseph Parker, you’re welcome! I’m glad it was helpful! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and say so! And you’re right, once you do the big drawers, you can do the others easily
OMG can't thank you enough for putting together such a well made, Logical step by step video. I was ready to scream from using their awful instructions!! This saved me....thanks!!
Great instructional video. One note: You *can* use two euro screws to attach the front mounting bracket on the drawer slides to the sides of the cabinet for a top drawer. But, to do it, you have to bore your own hole in the cabinet side, targeting one hole in the top row. Probably not necessary unless the drawer will be heavily loaded and used frequently, as for silverware or cutlery.
@@PottersWork You're welcome. I should have mentioned that if you choose to do that, the hole you bore should be 5 mm if you have metric drill bits, or 13/64" if you have SAE. The latter is only about .006" of an inch bigger than 5 mm, so it will work well.
Great instructions, the ones from Menards are kinda cryptic. For the problem with no access for the second screw hole, I wasn't super comfortable with leaving only the one screw in the front so I just drilled a hole for the top row of holes in the bracket. There were no predrilled ones that matched up so had to create one - just used a 3/16 drill bit (same one used for the cabinet connector install) and marked the depth on the bit with a piece of tape so I didn't drill through. Worked great.
Great idea Mikey, thanks for sharing! I haven’t had an issue with ours, but I think it’s probably better to do what you did for sure. Glad the video was helpful as well!
A+ video, very helpful. All these years later, have you had any issues or regrets with Klearvue. I'm just starting my remodel. Have you done or found other install videos that were helpful? Thanks again!
Thanks! No complaints 6 years later...I did do a follow-up video that pops up at the end of this video where I cover a few annoyances. I haven't seen any other videos for install, but I haven't really needed to look either. I would install them again knowing they aren't the highest grade cabinets out there, but they look nice and are easy to get replacement parts for from menards
Help!! In the front holes of the metal slides I can only get one screw in, the top rail of the slide is completely in the way to getting a second screw in front… even when I pull the top half completely out, I cannot clear space to get a second screw in it’s making us completely y crazy 😂 we got one in front and one in back of each slide.
Sorry, I’m just now seeing your comment! If you are doing a Low drawer, you can only get 2 screws in, so that’s normal. Frustrating they don’t call that out in the instructions
Did you have any 155 degree hinges? If so, how do you adjust the speed? The 110 degree hinges have a little toggle switch that sped up the soft close function basically. Not seeing it on the 155s.
I had my struggle too Nathaniel…I knew I needed to make a video after I figured it out. I’m glad it helped save you some headaches, lord knows I had one after the 1st drawer lol.
Do you know if you can put the drawer runners in the cabinets before setting them in place connected to each other and the wall? Reason being my order is coming in partial batches and the drawer face hasn’t come in yet and I would like to get started.
Sorry I missed this comment Trurex! I don't see why you couldn't install the slides ahead of time, the only issue might be that they will be sliding in and out while moving the bases around later. Is this what you meant?
That but more importantly if the slides would interfere with screwing the bases together later. New question: my wall cabinets are 24” and therefore would not be able to hit two studs for each cabinet. Would you just put up a top and bottom 4” runner?
Trurex007, I don’t see a problem with the drawer slides interfering with cabinet installation as long as you put some tape on them to keep them from sliding in and out as you’re handling them, they slide pretty easily. When I was framing up the wall in our kitchen before we installed the cabinet bases, I put a 2x6 runner/nailer between my studs along the whole wall so I would have a uniform area to mount all my cabinets to. That made it a lot easier knowing I had a good structure to screw to along the whole wall.
Thank You! This video helped take a lot of anxiety away from me. When my cabinets arrived and I saw all the boxes; I thought what did I get myself into? I'm a 62 y/o lady who will be installing them herself. I have done several renovations...confident in my abilities...for now :),but never attempted cabintrey. This video was extremely helpful.
Cheryl, I’m glad we could help! We felt the same way when we brought all of our boxes home too! It seems overwhelming, but really isn’t too bad at all once you get going. Good luck with your cabinets!
I did not use the last 2 screws on the low drawers…I don’t think it’s possible to make them fit. I haven’t had a problem with using only two for each side. Hope that answers your question!
Excellent video! I am a retired cabinet installer/remodeler, out of the business for more than ten years, remodeling a pole barn while living in it. The Klearvue drawer assembly had me bumfoozled before watching your excellent instructional video. As you stated at the beginning of your video, the Klearvue instructions are inadequate, to put it mildly. Though your step-by-step instructions were very clear and easy to understand. I came across one slight problem that you obviously didn’t encounter. While attempting to snap the drawer front into the guide assembly, the left side went in perfectly. However, the right side just would not snap. When looking at the mechanism, I noticed there are 3 Phillips-head screws in the adjustment mechanism. The middle one (to which there is a spring attached) had been somehow sprung into the locking position, and would not allow the mechanism to catch the bracket. I found taking a Phillips screw driver and turning that screw about a quarter turn opened the catch, and allowed the mechanism to engage the bracket. (In case anyone else has the same problem.) You’ve saved this old remodeler a ton of cussin’ and fussin’. Thank you!
Now, how does the drawer release work for removing the high drawer from the cabinet?? Blüm drawer runners had separate L & R locks which had to be attached to the bottom of the drawer. I don’t see any release for these runners.
@@y.u.doodat9133, thank for adding some great info to the comment section! I did not have that problem, but I'm sure someone else will! I am going to be adding "bamfoozled" to my vocabulary from now on ;) As far as removing the High drawer, I have done it in the past and can't remember now how I had to do it. I am not home to try at the moment or I would...I don't know why, but I seem to remember having to lift up the front of the drawer to remove it. I'll try to remember to look this evening if you haven't already figured it out!
Check out my video for the 3 year review for these cabinets: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NdmPgex3k3Y.html If this video was helpful and informative, it would mean a lot to us if you could hit the LIKE button! We are having the hardest time with our island drawer and cabinet install. They don’t seem to match up no matter how we try. Either the cabinet is too high or the drawer doesn’t fit
@@PottersWork the 30 inch base cabinets. We have 2 of them doing a small island in our downstairs kitchen and neither one line up. We’ve followed the instructions and watched several videos but still can’t get them figured out. Would it be possible to send you a picture of the cabinets to get your take on what we could be doing wrong?
Good video! If adjusting the cabinet up or down, be sure to loosen the locking Phillip screw to the left of the adjusting metal Phillip screw or you will break off the Phillip (cam) screw like I did.
The issue I'm having is I am trying to install a low drawer/ door combo on an 18" wide by 30" high base cabinet and I am having an issue with the drawer hitting the overhang of the counter...not sure how to alleviate this issue...
Tyler, we had to have our counter tops shimmed up when they were installed because of the low clearance. I made a follow up video that talks about it a little, should be a link at the end of this video (it's the 3 year review video). Only thing you can really do is adjust the drawer front down with the adjustment screws, but there isn't a ton of adjustment in them at all. I feel like the cabinets should have been a little taller to compensate for that
Hiiii!! How do you take the drawer off? I put my drawers in and assembled everything before putting my countertop please help!!! I try finding videos but there is only one to take the drawer front. Thanksss
Brittany, I’m not home right now but I was thinking you just had to lift from the front...it’s been a while since I removed them. I was thinking I slid the drawer most of the way in and then lifted it to make sure I didn’t bend the tracks. I will try to remember to check when I am back home. I would proceed with caution if you try it until you know for sure lol.
July 2022, i am finishing my cabinet installation (had a contractor do all the cabinets along the wall, i did the island a few months later). Island is secure just starting on the drawers. You should seriously get some compensation or something from Klearvue. Very nice demonstration and nice job installing your cabinet boxes!
Bill, that means a lot! When I decided to make this video I had no idea it would help so many people. I’m glad it was helpful to you and thanks for the comment!! I wish Klearvue would throw me a few free cabinets so I can do the other half of my kitchen ;)
Did any of your drawer fronts come with defects? Scratches and small bumps? I just got mine last week and started inspecting them over the weekend and there’s a lot of defects.
Frankie, we had one drawer face that was scratched that we had to exchange. Other than that, all of ours were perfect. Hopefully you can swap them out like we did
Thank you, the website didn’t explain what to do about the third screw for the upper cabinet, Glad to know I skip it! Very well done instruction video 👌🏽
What do you think of the quality of these cabinets? Have you spent some time using them? I can decide between these or the IKEA’s Sektion cabinets. Any input would be appreciated.
Riddim, we’ve had them for a couple of years now and so far I’ve been happy with them. Everything still functions like it should, finish still looks really good too. However we don’t have a lot of traffic around them either to really test the finish durability. A couple of the drawers have quite a lot of weight in on them and are still holding up very well. I would probably buy them again for sure. We looked at the ikea cabinets too, and liked them a lot, but we just don’t have an ikea very close to us. The nearest one is 2 hours away. These are by far not what I would call “high quality” but they look really nice and the price was pretty decent for our budget. Hope that helps!
@@dkp2112 yes we did, and yes if I recall I used a rubber mallet to install them. I don’t remember it being too difficult but it’s also been 6 or 7 years ago now and my memory is a little foggy lol
Looking at grabbing some of these for my first house! Kitchen needs help... How are they holding up now that you've had them about a year and half? Any feedback is appreciated!
Seth, still doing just fine! No issues yet (knock on wood). Only thing we’ve had happen is our dogs collar catches the corner end piece on one of the cabinets and it’s chipped the veneer after he’s hit it probably 30 times. I could replace the end cap but there’s no point until we no longer have a dog ;)
Watched because we are considering this line. After using it for a few months, what are your impressions? Drawers still glide smoothly? Finish holding up?
Great question...so far they still glide smooth and close just fine. I have noticed that the drawer face adjustments are finicky...a few of them wouldn't stay at 1st but now they are fine. The finish seems to be holding up great, but we don't have a lot of traffic around them. We only have one child and we have drilled into him to be careful around them. I will say that if you think you will have a lot people handling them that are careless, I might be a little concerned with the finish not being "heavy duty"
Really interested in putting Klearvue cabinets in my home but the quality is hard to determine. I cant find any resources online or reviews. How are these holding up for you? Are you still happy with the choice?
Nick, so far they've been great, the only issue we've had is our German Shepherd's metal collar catches the corner of our outside cabinet when he's running by it and has chipped the corner veneer off in a small area (I was going to replace the end cap, but no point as long as we have a dog). There's also only 3 of us, so not a lot of kids abusing them all the time. The drawers still open and close smoothly and they still look great. I'm still not 100% sold on a veneer cabinet, but solid wood was out of our price range anyways. I am also thinking about buying a few extra drawer fronts to keep just in case anything were to ever get damaged in the future...not sure how long they will continue to make them, hopefully a while!
Thank you!! I was able to accomplish alot of assembling because of your video. You explained it better than any Klearvue video I could find. I wish you would have made more videos assembling these cabinets.
Glad it helped! Sorry, I would have more videos of the other kinds, but we just did the cabinets with drawers only and did shelving above instead of cabinets. Thanks for the feedback!
one more follower to be able to learn more things I started working on my own and it's good to watch videos like this, it's faster, these cabinets are new, a lot of patience
@@omarsaucedo3195 , well if you discover any tricks in the future, please share them with me as well ;). Good luck with your endeavor, and thanks for the follow as well!
Thanks for the helpful video. I'm about to purchase these, Menards wants me to buy a couple hundred feet of edge banding? Did you do that? (My doors will be white, your doors/drawers are white. Do I need white edge banding?) I know that's needed for Ikea cabinetry if one uses a dark door--the cabinet carcass is edged with white/cream and you can see a peek of it here and there with the doors closed. Is the Klearvue already edged, or is it bare particle board on the base cabinet front edges (meaning looking at it with drawers.doors open)? If you can answer that, your help is greatly appreciated.
Z, nothing on our cabinets is bare particle board on any of the edges. We didn’t have to buy any edge banding. I’m not sure if they have changed something on them now that would require it...but we didn’t need it and I don’t even recall them ever mentioning it. I hope that helps!
@@zhoffritz1877, no problem! Would you mind letting me know when you get them? We are going to be doing the other half of our kitchen with them too and now I’m curious. Thank you!
The only way I was able to build these cabinets was with this video. I was about to pack everything up and send it back !!! Thank you because the direction were definitely a situation
Nandini, it's been a long time since I installed it, I will have to take a look this evening after work to refresh my memory on how it's installed/adjusted.
I definitely had a WTF!? moment as I was watching this while doing research on the Klearvue cabinets that we are about to order for our kitchen. Not because of the great explanation, but because of the dude in the video! Great example! New subscriber!
Travis, lol! Well if you want to see some in person installed you know where to go! We didn’t do any uppers, but I feel like I’m a pro on the base cabinets now lol
Hey, thanks for your previous information but I’m in the middle of installation and have a question about screw placement for the low (small) drawer. Says to put 2 screws in fro t bracket but how do you get the screw in the “hidden” second front hole without stressing the railing??? Thanks.
Trurex007, we didn’t put that screw in...we just used one in the front and one in the back. I don’t think it’s possible to install 2 in the front on the low drawer.
Thanks, I thought I had seen it mentioned before but didn’t watch you video to the end the second and third time. Very helpful, wish the instructions pointed out the nuances and key points better.
@@jjmo33, glad I could help lol! I cussed those instructions for about 2 hours when we started. So I thought I’d make a video after I figured it out to help others. Thanks for leaving a reply!
@@PottersWork It definitely did! Instructions did not help at all. Could not get it right until I watched your video. Smooth sailing from there. Appreciate it!
I want to thank you for making this video. It saved me money, time, and frustration. I agree with the others that once we saw how easy it was to put the drawers together the rest was “a piece of cake.” Thank you again!
