While on a trip to the local hardware store, I ran across this Klein duct knife. This serrated knife is designed for air conditioning duct work. However the possibilities for its use in everyday applications does make one think. In this video meet the knife you knew nothing about.

I've ordered one to leave in my boat. Don't know how well it'll hold up in marine conditions...but for 25 quid (UK) I'm happy to give it a go!

i think if you keep it in a box with a good rubber gasket, should do alright. you could also keep it oiled up well on the regular and that would help too. these really are a good tool to have even if you do not do HVAC work

A very good low budget blade for self defense. good luck trying to get one shipped to MA & CA . They do not allow double edged knives, even if they are called a "tool". Thanks for your video.

thankfully i won't ever have to find out. i have been told by people in both those states, and others like NJ, that because it is not a smooth edge on both sides, one has the serrations, that it is exempt. even if those people are correct, i certainly would not adivse carrying it around everywhere you go. 🤣😂

Andrew Faulkner I have one or two Milwaukee duct knives. I broke the metal end on one and I switched to a stepped drill bit. People want ductless mini splits now and don’t want conventional anymore haha.

This is without a doubt the most durable knife you will ever come across , i do A/C work and I use it for everything I actually have two one I use for my beater ill chisel wood out pry anything open seriously its one of my favorite tools it always comes in handy in a pinch and then my second duct knife I use more on the cutting side just because they come Rasor sharp and the stay that shard for a while even if your rough with it ... I Recommend this tool for any trade... if im doing any side jobs regardless if it AC work electrical, or framing/ carpentry this tool has always came in handy I've only snapped one but I got a little to crazy with and tried to use it as a pry bar ... you can definitely pry stuff with one of these unless it calls for a crow bar then it will snap... Amazing tool though

It's awfully similar to my dive knife from the late 90's, think I'll get one as the different blade edges worked great on soft tarps and tough ropes, I guess the pommel could be used for tapping marker nails into crates etc

I found one the other day laying in a crawlspace while I was doing a termite treatment. The owner just had the house renovated and told me it was probably one of the contractors that dropped it. It's a Malco, which is practically identical to yours, except for the handle is a little different. It had some pretty bad edge damage, and probably wouldn't have been able to cut butter. I took the nicks out on a coarse stone, and just got done putting a new edge on it with a fine stone. It's wicked sharp now. I'm looking forward to trying it out on some projects and seeing how well it holds up. Might even make a leather sheath for it. If it breaks, or doesn't hold an edge for long, oh well! At least I didn't lose any money on it!

I work in HVAC have gone through 3 of these during this year the tip has snapped on all 3 and one snapped in half. Doesn’t hold up the way Malco does. Gonna buy a Milwaukee one next just to test it out even though it’s prob gonna be worse than my Malco.

i do no tknow for certain. if i had to take a guess i would say the US becuse Klein has been making tools in the US for a very long time and i do own other Klein tools that are stamped as such... this knife is not, but, i own other Klein stuff not stamped US too. is it possible they farm out certain things? yeah sure. you could always fire an email of to Klein if it is that big of a concern for you.

I want to know how thick the blade is; since that's the only thing not listed anywhere! I'm guessing about 3mm at it's thickest in the center.
@CloverTac
@CloverTac 5 лет назад
yes, i broke out the dial calipers on it. measuring the middle of the blade it is a little over 3.20mm right at the hilt and tapers off to about 3.05mm at the tip.
