Fourth on our list of 4x4 trails to be visited is Klein Tafelberg 4x4 in the Sandveld outside of Redelinghuys in the Western Cape.
Voted the number 1 trail in South Africa by Driveout Magazine, you will soon realize it yourself early in the trail once you have topped Milkshake Hill first on the trail's list!
This sand drenched trail really took me back to my childhood days where the sand really puts vehicle & driver to the test, until you eventually get it right and reach the top of the hill.
It is seriously the most fun we had doing 4x4 driving in many years!

did you do this trail in low range mostly? seeing that its mostly sandy. very soft sand it seems. great video by the way!

Thanks Regan! Not low range mostly, low range all the way! High range you will sure stuff something up on the vehicle's drive train. If you haven't been there, do yourself a favor and go check it out. ;)

@@DIESELTECH_ZA Interesting. I'm kind of new to 4x4'ing. why do you say you'll stuff something up if not in low range on these tracks? :D lol maybe the question is too loaded. maybe an idea for a whole new video :D

@@mrReganTaute I see what you mean yes. I mean that if not in low range, you might end up damaging drive train components or burn out your vehicle's clutch (if a manual) etc. Low range simply ensures that you & your vehicle has enough torque available to tackle the terrain without putting anything on your vehicle under immense pressure, it also gives you as the driver enough time (while in motion) to make decision on what to do next as the terrain changes constantly while you drive. Like with most things, it is better to make a decision on a less stressed mind instead of rushing into things. (High range vs low range effect) Low is slow, and slow is what you want when 4x4'ing. I suppose one could make a video like you suggest, the problem is the video will most likely only be applicable for that specific track / terrain, each track / terrain will have its own unique of driving & approach style to it. But I suppose the general rule is to stop, get out and assess rather than just storming in if you are unsure, no matter what type of terrain you are encountering. ;) Thank you for watching & your interaction Regan, appreciate it.

Is there bypass routes for the sand sections on the track, i dont like sandhills always end up with a flat tyre later that week because sand got in the bead

Hi Ashfield, yes the more difficult sections does have that I noticed. We deflated to 0.7 bar and the tyres somehow managed it. It is a really great trail to try out.

I’m not such a fan of sand driving - are there more obstacles that are rocks or just the one that you filmed ? Nice video man !

Put 35inch on and you will love the sand..

Thanks Dylan! No mainly the ones I filmed that are the rocky bits. The rest were sand, was lovely! That 6 cylinder petrol engines in the Jeep will handle the sand well man, just send it! ;)

@@DIESELTECH_ZA thanks man! Haha ya I know I may be strange , but ya it’s that send it style of driving I don’t enjoy myself . I prefer the slow , technical stuff where I’m needing to be very specific about the placement of each wheel etc . Well at least that’s what I’m enjoying at the moment .✌🏽

@@ajourneyinthewild Yeah I hear you man. Sand driving is mostly the exact same concept, placing each wheel as well while all in motion & keeping the momentum going not to get spin in and get stuck. ;)
