This Glacier Paradise rid is likely the worlds best cablecar and it is Europe's highest cablecar taking you to a super modern mountain station on Klein matterhorn with spectacular views of the glacier and the Matterhorn. This was a highlight of my Swiss Alps tour and is the best of what you can do in Switzerland in summer. The matterhorn Glacier Express is also the best mountain cablecar for taking spectacular pictures. I'm not sure if it is the world's highest cablecar but the Glacier Paradise ride is definitely my favorite cablecar ride. Zermatt and the Matterhorn was a real travel bucket list item for me. This majestic mountain in the Swiss Alps may be the most recognizable and iconic mountain on the planet, perhaps with the Kilimanjaro. In this travel video, I am taking the worlds best cablecar ride on the Matterhorn Glacier Express to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise on Klein Matterhorn. From Klein Matterhorn, you will see the mountain from the South-East, which is quite a different perspective than from Gornergrat.
The journey starts at the Trockener Steg mountain station which is mid-way from Zermatt to Klein Matterhorn. Klein Matterhorn is a ridge at an altitude of 3883 m, in between the Matterhorn and the Monte Rosa massif.
The mountain station of the Glacier Paradise includes an outdoor viewing platform, an indoor panoramic windows to view the many peaks in the Swiss and Italian Alps, a restaurant, an ice grotto inside the glacier with ice sculptures, a cinema lounge, and you can ski and snowboard all year round, even in Summer. If you're not into skiing or snowboarding, snow tubing is another option. It is a bit comparable to the Jungfraujoch Top of Europe Switzerland which offers similar activities.
