On my tour through the mountains of Trentino, the first tour takes me straight to a first-rate via ferrata.
A truly spectacular via ferrata with difficulty D, full of exciting passages, technically not to be underestimated, long developed, but without large height differences. Another element of strong appeal is the presence of numerous military positions during World War I: trenches, tunnels, emergency shelters.
Medium secured via ferrata on volcanic rock, with breathtaking views between the Sella Group and the Marmolada Glacier.
The hardest part is in the first section near Porta Vescovo, where you have to rely on the strength of the arms to negotiate a vertical wall at the entrance, which does not have sufficient kicks and handles. The continuation consists of an uninterrupted succession of crossings, overcoming battlements and rocky cliffs, sometimes very exposed, grassy high altitude sections, fascinating and numerous changes of horizon.
When wet, the climb is not recommended because of the risk of slipping!
Recommended is the passage through the tunnel (equipped with a lamp) then to the Bontadini bivouac and from there to the Padon Pass.
The bivouac was then part 2 of my venture on the Marmolada.
