I have used the Arai Tour-X4 on most of my adventures the last 4 years. I really love that helmet and it suits me really good. After testing the new KLIM Krios Pro i just had to get one for the 2020 season. I will make i update video on the end of the year. But this will be my new companion for my next adventures.

I click the like before the video has started. I really should look first and then click, but it has not failed me yet. Keep it up. Good review. Trying to not buy a new helmet, but they look so darn cool.

Cool unboxing and first impression review. Good to have two good helmets to choose of. For me there was no comparison, the old helmet was done... Interesting to see how it ends Thomas. :) I feel ready to hang out now ;P Can't wait to get into the wild again. I just started to lurk where to hang :D

Yeah, i guss my Arai had one more good season in it... so now i will teste it and see if i will stick to KLIM or go back to a new Arai next. I really hope to see a upgraded Arai with lighter frame, same buckle and better stability in high speed :-) I can't see any reason for not getting together and "hang around" when the whole Covid-19 is settle. Really glad you got the opportunity to test out the new Draumr XL. this mean we got to see another video from you soon :-D

I have both. The klim ventilation is average, overall quality is so so. The visor detent will get worn off after certain mileage. My first klim EPS foam was detached after 15k km, got it replaced under warranty. Not happy with the helmet, sold it after 1 year. Arai is heavier but the overall balance and helmet liner help to reduce the heavy feel when wearing. Arai helmet venting is excellent.

Is this the Klim Krios or the Krios Pro? Love this kind of feedback, and i will be sure to keep a look out for this. Yes, i agree with the Arai... it is really well balanced so you dont feel the weight that much when you wear it, but when you switch between the two... there is a big difference! Thank you for shining a light on this, appreciate it

Hello mate, i have the same size as my arai and shoei, i find the klim krios pro true to size. But i know it goes down one Shell size in medium, and maybe that is different?

Another great video, Thomas. That white colour looks cool! 👍 I’ve always been an Arai fanboy, but XD-4 really looks outdated in 2020. Krios Pro was on my radar for this upcoming season, but I went with Shoei Hornet ADV instead and I’m still not sure if that was the right decision. I read somewhere that light weight = more noise. What are your findings in this regard?

I really like the white colour myself. The Arai and the Shoei helmets are somehow really similar. I have not tested the Hornet, but i like the shape of it. Noise levels on the Krios Pro are lower than some of the competition. I always use earplugs so i dont think to much about it to be honest. Most helmets today are 109dB and that is way to high anyway. I saw a test in the Ride Magazine where they have testet the ADV helmets. www.nexx-helmets.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/RiDE-Adventure-Helmet-test-April-2020.pdf There is one thing that is underrated when going for a new helmet... weight!

I love the idea of a super light helmet - and the transitions shield is a great selling point, but when it comes down to what I'm putting my head in, I just can't get comfortable with the KLIM vs Arai. When I put on my XD-4, I know I'm benefiting from years of research and testing at the highest levels of competition in MotoGP and F1. And while I know there's some debate around the real world value of a Snell certification, I appreciate the effort and the testing involved. Plus it just feels great when I pull it on.

I see what you mean 👍🏻 and i second that opinion, but the technology has come so far with both lids, i dont see any reason not to choose what looks and feels best! It is hard to find a helmet today that are not up there on the top of the list protection vice! 👍🏻

High Warlord Occurrence haha, jeg skulle likt å svare på det! Men vi har ikke hatt varme dager i Norge enda! Så jeg kan faktisk ikke uttale meg! Men den er mer ventilert føler jeg, eller det blåser mer i ansiktet med klim Krios! En annen ting jeg merker nå når jeg ikke har kjørt med arai på en stund er hvor rart visiret er! Gir sånn dybde greier som er helt rar! Vanskelig å forklare! Sikkert for at visiret buler såpass mye og er så langt unna ansiktet

@@tshansen Tusen takk for svaret. Jeg har prøvd Tour X-4 og den passet hodeformen min godt. Krios Pro ser smalere ut, så tror ikke den vil passe meg. Bruker i dag Shoei Neotec 2. Den er jeg veldig fornøyd med, bortsett fra ventilasjonen, som er elendig.

Love helmet's design and options. However, I read reliability complaints about Klim's visor. I purchased an AX9 at deep discount instead. Please do a long term review and keep us posted. Thank You

I'm really getting comfortable with this helmet. It is amazing, yes it is not without its small things, just like the Arai or other helmets i have owned. But i will make sure to use it alot this season and make a one year review of it :-) Or if something should heppend i will make a video about it :-) Cheers

My first gen Krios has a broken hinge joint that makes the issue of not being able to crack open the visor even worse. Unfortunately, Klim was out of stock on the hinge parts...probably not the only customer with the same issue. I own a lot of Klim gear, so I really hope they improved the most recent version.

Yeah, but from what i saw when changing the visor, this is not on the helmet but on the visor part? or? I had problems with a joint on my Arai helmet as well, but that was easy to replace.

Thomas Hansen it’s the hinge joint that’s screwed into each side of the helmet. The piece is about 25-30 mm, triangular-ish. It was this small plastic piece that Klim was out of stock on, that had a tiny crack to prevent the shield from staying closed. Not sure if that makes any sense?

I"m hoping the KRios Pro becomes such a good seller that Arai has to drop their cost so I can grab one for a good price :D

outty77 hahaha, I know that the Arai is possible to get for a good price if you dont need the newest color combo. I hope this makes arai getting back to the drawing board and makes a lighter, better an updated version 👍🏻

That gap on the visor put me off ...... In bad weather when you need that extra ventilation to prevent fogging you need to open the visor straight one inch and that facilitates water comming from the top of the visor....... For me krios have to wait, nice review tho dude

I agree, the gap in the bottom of the visor can be a bummer! The air coming in trough the front is massive, so it may be ok! I have to test more before i can give you my final thoughts. The pinlock Works great to prevent fogging, but dont know how good it will hold up. Thank you... how are you in this covid-19 times? All good? Cheers

@@frankofodor I will take notes as the season pass and try to make a thorough 1 year review! Helmet is one of the most important equipment we own! Snow? Damn, i hope we dont get it over here. Lockdown here as well, but still allowed to move around and stay outside.

Yeah, never seen it before me either. It works wonder... Easy to lock in and out and stays connected. Really liked that function. I will guess more helmet brands will get this in the next years :-)

I have to say I always had micrometric buckles. I don't like the double D system.

Decisions, decisions... How about noise and comfort in comparison? Goggles work fine I'm guessing, knowing Klim.

Chad Bjerken the liner in the KLIM Krios is softer and better in my opinion. The noise levels are way to high in any helmet, so i Always ride with earplugs! Most helmets today come in about 109dB

By the way, do you get any vision distortion with you Arai helmet? I recently got new XD-4 and I have the floor kinda floating when I look through the visor and an turn my head left and right. Both with clear and tinted visor. Never got that with any of my full face Arai’s. Pretty annoying and also dangerous. ☹️

Yes, there is some sort of distortion, but i have not noticed that much before. I see it now when i put it back on after not used it for i while.... but only when looking down to the floor. I think it has something to do with how the visor bend... not sure.

Thomas Hansen thanks for confirming, at least I know I am not the only one with this effect. It really is a problem for me. I think one of the reasons I crashed with 790 and broke my collar bone is due to not being able to read and judge the terrain adequately. Probably I have to sue Arai 😁 On a serious note - this adventure helmet has the longest chin and curved visor. I made some tests with full face Arai helmets, Shoei Hornet ADV and Klim Krios Pro. The farther away visor is from eyes the more distortion. Probably depends on the shell size too, because the visor size doesn’t change. Not such problem with Hornet and the visor is not so curved and no problem with Klim either.

Hmm... that is some interesting teori. The arai has to Shell sizes, the smaler one touch my nose! May not be so much as the xl one i have... hmm

Thomas, those are exact the two helmets I´m looking for, also the color is the same! For the Krios Pro I´m between S/M is the size fit tight and should I go for a M size? What would you recomment?

Björn Leek ooohh that is so hard to give advise on! You should try it on! Make sure it dont get to loose! It can be really hard to be in between sizes in helmet! Do you know if you can change the size of the cheekpad?

Do either of these helmets have dedicated and adequate ear pockets for headsets? HJC are miserable!

I'm not sure if there is a dedicated ear pocket in this helmets, but i just looked at them inside, they have a grove or what to say where the ear goes when you put it on, where you can fit a headset speaker without any trouble. I don't run speakers in my helmets yet, so i can't tell if they are good or not...sorry

the noise, well where to start. I feels a little more silent than the Arai, but that my just be the trill of getting a new helmet with new liner. I see every test out there most of the helmets are between 109-110dB in noise levels. I always ride with earplugs so i dont find any helmet to noisy. So i would say it is the same as all the others out there :-)

Thomas Hansen I have a first gen Krios, and it’s what inspired me to start wearing earplugs. Now I wear earplugs in my Shoei street helmet. But really, it’s a very light helmet, very comfortable, and very noisy.

Haha, med god grunn! Den har vært skuddsikker de 4 siste årene. Er veldig fornøyd med Arai'en....men, jeg er veldig imponert over KLIM'en. Håper jeg er like fornøyd etter å ha prøvd den grundig
