I would like to but there are none to order. I went to the Klime website because I thought I would get a better chance of getting one there, since they are the ones who get them first.
Do you have any recommendations for safety jackets or shirts for 90+ degree days? I do not need an all-season jacket, but I do need something for the hotter(est) days.
I think that's actually a good thing. With the right base layer like LD Comfort or Merino wool, you can wick away perspiration and it doesn't get blown away like a hair dryer mesh jacket before it gets the chance to cool you off.
I love my Marrakesh jacket, it is the most comfortable jacket I’ve ever owned. Like you say, combine it with layers and it is all year round comfortable. I have the Klim Zephyr windproof shirt and a heated jacket underneath it on colder days and a Scott waterproof jacket over the top for when it rains. In the summer it is the coolest most comfortable jacket whilst keeping me well protected with it’s 1000 denier construction along with the ghost armour, every panel of the jacket flows air through, it’s brilliant
Hi Ian, I am not a subscriber as I usually dont watch reviews, but once or twice a year your video pops up in my recommended feed and I check it out. I am not in a market for new motorcycle or riding gear, but as a motorcycle rider and an apparel designer I learn a lot from your insights on the moto clothing. I really appreciate the way you communicate and share your unbiased opinions and improvement suggestions.
I crashed with these on the other day, around 50mph, saved me from allot of road rash but not a broken fibula. Honestly tho It might have saved me from allot worse thanks to the CE2 pads I had in it. The jacket has light touches wear but still usable. The pants are smoked, torn near the right knee. I’ll definitely be buying again. I got 5 sets of Klim and these and the Bajas are my most used. With the Marrakesh I layer and it’s comfy from 34-80 degrees. I barely use my heavier Klim sets because it’s that good.
You substituted CE Level 2 armor for the Level 1 armor it came with? Did you encounter difficultly getting that armor to fit? Was it still comfortable?
@@andrewthompson1313 I have done that with all my Klim sets. I have 5. It’s not hard, D03 lv 2 everything. Happy to have the upgraded support. I know at least one other time it saved my knee cap.
I just returned a st of S4 in favor of the Marrakesh. Buying on line is a pain so I made the trip down to Revzilla to try and compare before I used the S4 (was doubting my decision), glad I did (though the S4 is very nice as well, just a bit heavier than I wanted for the summer). I will still use my Latitude set for colder weather.
I have the Marrakesh and have toured in it in 35-90F temps so far. I upgraded to L2 armor and wear an airbag vest under the jacket. With layering, this is my 4-season jacket. Klim Forecast Gore-Tex outer shell is also a good breathable windbreaker.
I’ll tell ya once again thanks! You’re killing it buddy! So many great reviews. And this is the one jacket and pants (mainly jacket) I haven’t bought yet that I need for those summer days where it’s hard to put on the hot protective gear. This seems like the best answer and your title backs it up as the most comfy. Now for all the fine details that only you do. Appreciate it! I will thank you again by using your link to buy. 🏍️💨
Agreed on the comfort of the jacket, definitely one of my favorites. I would encourage those looking to buy one to take a good look at the sizing, they seem to run big. I’m 5’11” 170lbs and ended up buying a size small. For context I wear Rev’it and Alpinestars jackets in a size large.
💯 Size down for sure. I’m normally a large in everything. Even an XL in some Revit. A medium is perfect if not still a bit roomy. I also immediately ditched the ghost armor and added the traditional LP2 D3O throughout. This made it fit even better.
Thanks for this great review. I like reviews from hardcore enthusiasts with a lot of experience, particularly those I've followed enough to know that, more often than not, my preferences will align with the reviewers. This was a great review. Clicking through your Marrakesh jacket link.
Had one for over 2 years, excellent ! In the uk ,depending on our wonderful weather i just use a t shirt underneath, keiss heated jacket when cold, waterproof top if very cold or wet,i will buy again when needed
I have the Marrakesh for year-round use. In addition, a Spidi down jacket for extra warmth, a Klim Override jacket with 60 grams of Thinsulite, the Klim Resilience Jacket to block the wind when it's needed, and the rain suit by Dainese. And for the upper body: Knox MK3 shirt, lower body: Bohn Body Armor Adventure pants with shorter knee pads for tall boots. In addition, l also use in the Winter the Revit Windcollar Velox 2 GTX INFINIUM to keep drafts out. Exceptional!
Similar setup. Cool grey Marrakesh, sweater, puffy, fleece, base layer and waterproof. Good freezing weather to 100*f+. 40 years riding, best jacket ever!!!
I’ve had the Marrakesh jacket for a full season and I love it. It does get a bit hot with temps at 90°+, but overall it’s great. Throw in the axial wind block shirt and it will easily be comfortable down to around 50°.
Have you found any good jackets or protective riding shirts for temps over 90 +? I mean, 90+ is hot already, and I do practice ATGAT, but when the temps get to this level, my current gear is just too hot, and it discourages me from riding.
@@ioathleteHonestly, anything over 90° will get uncomfortable no matter what you wear. That said, my old Rev’it Eclipse jacket was better in the hotter temps. It has a similar fit to the Marrakesh as well.
@@ioathlete My Marrakesh is about as good as it gets in hot weather. The only thing you can do is an LD Comfort or merino wool base layer to wick away perspiration and cool you off. I soaked and rinsed out my LD comfort at a gas station restroom when it was 97, put it back on under my jacket and nearly froze my ass off for the rest of the afternoon. Not effective in hot humid weather though.
Great review an you're absolutely right !! Best motorbike suit i ever had. I removed armor in the jacket and use an Ortema Ortho-Max-Jacket for Off-Road and it's perfect !!! And congratutulations - your channel and your reviews are first class !!! Many greetings from Germany !!
I own the Marrakesh suit and Klim’s Induction Mesh Suit. The Induction suit is cooler, guaranteed. And with an Alpinestars cooling vest you can survive in 104 deg.
I like the Marrakesh. I feel I could wear it around town and not feel like an adventure "poser". The Motolegends channel talks about how you can "layer" this jacket (and pant) to ride in ANY weather. This is going to be my go-to jacket when I add an Adventure bike to my sports touring stable.
Looks so good. Also the neck looks like it fits you properly (so prob would fit me properly also). Def would consider these if there was some AA rating
I LOVE my marakesh jacket! It is extremely comfortable and blocks more wind than you would think. Great 2-3 season jacket. The minute I tried it on I knew I was going to buy it!
I have both the Marrakesh jacket and pants. In temps below 60 degrees (f) - the Klim lightweight Zephyr shell pairs really well, worn underneath, to cut the airflow against the skin. The Pants are 3 and maybe 4 season - in cooler weather I wear a base-layer long-john and i am good to 30 degrees F (with a different jacket obviously). Sizing on the jacket can be hard to nail down - thankfully Klim is very forgiving on returns for size issues. Very high quality. Highly recommended.
Thank you for the great Review Ian. I love the detail that you go into, plus the links that you provide, they are most helpful. i will have to check this suit out!!
Klim's nod to actual fashion =) I have one in light gray and I call it my Sunday-go-to-meeting outfit. This is what I wear with riding jeans for a day ride. I have a Baja S4...I had wanted a Marrakesh jacket but couldnt justify the cost, but then I was at the local dealer with my wife and I tried it on for her. She bought it for me on the spot! I still wear the Baja for trips and off road (not sure how abrasion tolerant the M'kesh is), but the fit and look of this jacket compares to anything the Dutch or Italians make (mine replaced a Rev'it Airwave...I like the longer cut of the Klim too). Depending on weather, time of the day, etc., I will wear it with my heated jacket liner for cold temps, or just carry a windbreaker and a fleece, good to go. My new MSR mid-layer is perfect for it. Mine is a couple years old...have they added a pants connection zipper or strap to them?
I ordered a jacket through revzilla. I don't know if I did it the right way so you get credit but I named you in my order form for assisting in my decision. 108F in spokane this week. I love my other klim jacket but I needed to address the summer temps here. Great review. Thanks.
I do love my Marrakesh jacket and pants and I wear them a lot of the time. Above 90F I switch to the Klim Induction Jacket for better airflow. This either jacket and M pant combined with rain over jacket and pant combined with heated vest and puff jacket will take you from freezing to 100 with comfort. The M jacket breathes but the Induction Jacket really flows much better. Best of all the flexible fabric is way comfortable. Go with a light color for warmish days. Ian is spot on. Also for road rides, I started wearing the new Helite 2 tethered (non-electronic) vest. Having tried both styles (over and under air-vest), I find the Helite II over-vest cooler in hot weather than the under-jacket vests. Perhaps a review idea for BRM.
I have this jacket. If it’s hot and you’re in stop and go traffic yer gonna cook. It’s great other wise. The sizing is also odd. There’s a big jump from one size to the next. I would say size down. It’s stretchy and will eventually form to you.
Thanks for another great video Ian. You say "you are between a medium and a large jacket" but I dod not hear you say which size jacket you are wearing?
Ian, I really like my Marrakesh suit. Too bad I can't get the pants over the MX boots. No zippers or snaps. Oh, and I loved the Champ school video. Most of us will never get the chance so we live vicariously.
I had to choose between this and the Baja jacket, and I went for the Baja. (online order, never had the chance to try them on). Basically the Baja is the adventure version of this jacket, quite pricy but yeah if you layer your gears this is probably the best money can buy.
I have to agree once I purchased the Marrakesh I just do not wear my other gear . I have older version and was able to upgrade the armor to level 2 . Nice review
I'm on my 2nd marrakesh jacket now and they must be the best all round jacket you can get. I wear it all year round (in the UK where it gets below freezing point in winter). On wet days stick a Scott ergo waterproof over the top. If you're cold stick on a Klim zephr windbreaker and/or a down jacket underneath. It's the perfect jacket if you wear an airbag vest too as the Marrakesh is so stretchy you can wear a tight fitting one and it'll still work well with the airbag. I wear the Klim switchback pants or Rokker riding jeans with it. The Switchbacks fit better over chunky ADV books than the Marrakesh ones
@@carlosalonso9866 the Marrakesh is really stretchy so buy it in your normal size. I made this mistake with my first jacket when I sized up and it didn't look great
I have the previous generation in light grey. It has 2 chest pockets instead of one and adjusters on the forearms. Most annoying thing is the gusset zippers are a bit fiddly to unzip so i would just skip them. It's like half mesh so not as cool and nice as say Richa Body guard 2. But the stretchy is super nice 👌 new version looks better for sure
I have several pairs of Klim pants…hands down the Marrakesh is the most comfortable riding pants I’ve ever worn (excluding MX gear of course)…period. Yes I am aware this is not rain gear. I’m just speaking purely comfort wise.
Great review Ian 👍🏻have a question ref its 4 way stretch, so if I crash (on or off road) will the armour just be pushed away from the knees, shoulders or elbows? Would the S4 be better for crash protection. I’m looking for a summer suit to stay cool and the S4 and Marrakesh are on the shortlist.
Excellent review. Thank you for the details. I’ve been on the search for a pant that will allow me to wear over shorts or chinos. Perhaps jeans too. I require myself to be fully protected but strongly desire to commute to work, etc. and shed the jacket and pants once I arrive. Anyone have feedback on wether or not this suit fits the need, especially the pants.
Great honest review. I've pieced together 2 sets of gear. I think I have a used version 1.0 of this and I agree. I live in the south east and we have 2+ cold months and 8 great months of 60-85 degrees (usually with a 30=60 minute rain shower) and 2 months of HOT and HUMID. This and a few well picked layers may be the answer for most of my year. And it looked great on that cruiser too. I have a Pan America and an older Road King and I've never been the denim and leather guy. Great stuff!!!!
Klim jackets and sizing always run larger. I got a Large and it's plenty roomy, maybe a Medium is best for me. What size if your here Ian ? Im guessing it's a Medium.
If you were to use the Marrakesh for RTW touring, what would you take for additional layering, assuming encountering varied weather - hot, cold, and rain, and keeping it light and small. Thanks.
I have the jacket. Would love to buy the pants but they don't make them small enough. When its 40°c out behind a windshield it still does get hot but anything will and otherwise its amazing. I should have got a light color. I just got a Valdese Gore-tex jacket to go over it. I wanted a gore-tex jacket that had through venting vs the forecast jacket with no vents. we will see how it works long term.
Great review Ian, as always. Thank you! Might this jacket be comparable to the Mosko Surveyor (forget if that’s the right name), which I tried on last month, seems to be a similar stretchy but abrasion-resistant fabric. Weird fit though!
Do you think this jacket could survive 5-10 years? Durability is important to me. That armor doesn't look all that protective either. Looks nice though.
First thanks for the videos and information you share What is better if the weather is very hot in the summer, the Marrakesh Jacket or the Klim Baja from your experience ?
Thanks for this review - I wanted to try this suit and support your channel but when I used your link I found that Revzilla is sold out of most sizes 🤷🏻♂️
Just ordered this before your video came out! The only thing I don’t understand is why not make the pants in the same colors as the jackets? Teak and potters clay? I don’t get why the pant color is asphalt?
If you treat the jacket with 303 Fabric Guard, it will make it very water resistant. For cold wear a waterproof heated jacket underneath and all set for cold rainy weather if needed. Have worn this jacket from 40 degrees up to 95. Unfortunately I can't wear the pants. Klim does not make any pants for tall fat guys.
I have the baja s4 gear, which is great except for the collar. When will Klim make a jacket that doesn't choke you! Looks like the collar on the marrakesh is better.
I own this jacket; use it with layers from 35-95 degrees. Comfort is hard to beat! FWIW pants do not fit over larger boots (Sidi Crossfires) which is kind of a bummer.
@@4940markhutchins For sure! Base layer, wind shirt & jersey. If that’s not enough I use a rain jacket as a shell… it a great jacket; just have necessary layers; and heated grips for cold weather.
Hi great review, I am planning a round the world trip. I currently have the klim badlands but it is way too hot (I'm currently in Cambodia and south east Asia). Im looking for a mesh light weight jacket that i can wear over body armor that i can pack away when the weather is poor or I'm in an area of the world that is a bit more harsh. I have been looking at the revit territory and the kilm. Can the klim pack down to a small size when not in use and pack away easily? ( I would not be using the included armor as i wear an armored base layer). I have also heard that it is still relatively hot at high temperatures.
Thank you Ian! Made up my mind on a mesh suit for hot weather. Looks like you get what you pay for 👍I was told I look like a power ranger in my MSR suit 😂
Do you know if the jacket have sufficient stretch to wear over separate armor (e.g. REV'IT! Proteus Jacket) and a mid-layer? I'm looking for a CE AA jacket to occasionally wear over my body amor (REV'IT! Proteus Jacket) and an insulating layer for on-road slide protection to/from off-road riding and was wondering whether the Marrakesh jacket would work. I recognize that I could size up this or another jacket, but I wanted to avoid having to size up my existing waterproof layer (Klim Enduro S4). Thanks in advance!
Is this good for commuting? I typically ride in the city/outskirts. I hate being really hot so I open up all of the vents on my Clover Dakar (Specifically chose the Clover because of the massive amount of vents)
I am also roughly the same build. Maybe a tad larger upper body but not by much. I tried a large on yesterday at Revzilla in Newport Beach, with a Klim Ai-1 vest (which I also own), with help and advice from the staff (wanted to make sure there was still enough room for deployment despite the jackets not being baggy on me), and the fit was perfect. The extra large was way too big in the shoulders and too long. My arms are pretty long as well, and the sleeve length was fine on the large. Now I am just having a really hard time deciding between the Marrakesh and the Baja S4. The Marrakesh is VERY comfortable, but at the same time, I will sometimes be riding in 100+ temps and the S4 flows more air but is heavier). I may eventually own both but for now need to decide between one or the other (pant and jacket). The Marrakesh 36" regular pant fit me well (I have a 32/33" inseam). Sizing for me was consistent with the Marrakesh, Baja S4 and with the Latitude set which I already own.
Bit late to the party but does the top flap about at higher speeds say on a naked or fill up like a balloon and drag like mad or is it nice and tight fitting
Another follow-up comment - can we get hi viz colors? I see black and asphalt! I don’t want to be one with asphalt!! Do you recommend any hi-visibility vest over this?
Hey Ian what do you think about the the alpinestar RT-8? I currently run them as my everyday everything boots (& my first full/mid height boot) I never wore any other motoboot long term so I don't know how it compares. I find them pretty breathable and doesn't sog up. But on longer rides when I dance a bit more on the peg I get callus build up on my big toe and sometimes I pinch my pinky toe if I push my foot forward in the boot. My right boot's toe cap is also cracked, although the plastic strike plate underneath is intact.
I can't find a connecting zipper between pants and jacket. Hopefully I'm wrong that a $1100 suit, by the time I have it at my doorstep, actually has this feature. I'd be more than willing to spend the money, but without the zipper it's a dealbreaker for me. Otherwise, the only hot weather suit, that's available in a light colour and with said zipper, is the BMW Aravis Air. Are there really no zippers and if so, are there any other suits, that have them?
I know that some shops, Motolegends in the UK for example, will sew zippers in so they can be connected. I’m sure any capable tailor could do the same..
The Klim Baja S4 is available in a light grey color, reportedly flows more air than the Marrakesh (but is heavier) and the jacket and pants can zip together. It is slightly more expensive at 1120 USD plus tax.
I am looking for riding gear for South Florida where it is hot and humid and it rains almost every day. When going off road the trails are often flooded. I bought a pair Forma Terra EVO Dry X-Series Boots because they were the only boots I could find with a relatively wide toe box. I would like to keep water out of my boots but I also don’t want to sweat to death. Good road protection is also a concern. Help me Ian
I have been very happy with my Latitude set for cooler weather (between 40 and 75 degrees F roughly, could maybe go to 80 as long as not stop and go). Not as light as Marrakesh of course, but also not as extreme as Carlsbad or Badlands. Gore Tex so should handle the rain no problem.
"The Most Comfortable Riding Gear (period.)" can't imagine how the jacket wit ha such low neck can be comfortable at all. You will always have to bother with some collars/windbreakers/buffs etc. and even using them you still will catch some wind under the jacket's neck. Seems like for a hot weather only.
Don't knock it till you try it. Only thing more comfortable is my birthday suit. Been riding 40 years. Put it on and immediately "where have you been the last 4 decades!"
why are you diluting your content with 6k views clips of reviews for gear nobody cares about, people want to see motorcycle content and good one at that
