Makes you wonder why some audiophiles sweat over fancy speaker cable when the speakers are wired internally with ordinary zip cord and spade lugs.
@dennisjohnson1802

The heritage generation IV have upgraded audioquest inside. BTW all speaker cables are not created equal. There is a point of diminishing returns, but lamp cord compromises SQ in a big way.

Everybody hypes up what they are selling...even speaker wire which is a bigger gage than the wall plug on the amplifier. An Ipod can drive a K-Horn.

i had a consecutively numbered pair of Heresys in unfinished birch in the 1970's (about $500 for the pair) . i drove them with a B&O 4000 stereo receiver with source provided via a B&O 1900 turntable spinning european pressed recordings . i built birch plywood cube stands to match the speakers and get the sound directed to seated ear level . the cabinets were topped with 1/4 inch clear glass , which glowed with backlighting . high and midrange were crystal clear and the lows so solid they could knock your teeth loose . the Heresys were visually beautiful and provided a clean uncolored sound . i met Paul Klipsch at Audio Systems & Design in Omaha back then ... a highly intelligent , interesting and congenial person - long gone .

I have the Klipsch Heresy H700 or H1 speakers from 1967 upgraded the tweeters to Bob Crites and replaced the original caps with Sonicaps fantastic sounding speakers they are powered by a 1965 Pioneer Magiceye tube receiver that has been fully restored with all caps replaced approx. 14 watts really a dream come true in audio for me a pleasure to own and enjoy music through this amazing sound system. Shout out to Skyfi for the Klipsch love.

Excellent video, really appreciated the breakdown. I recently moved from the Heresy III to the IV. They are both amazing at their respective price points and offer differentiated listening experiences. The IV is more performant and presents additional clarity and resolution. Both can be driven with low wattage and seem to respond well to tube amps. I've run them with EL84, 2a3, and 300B amps and in each case the Heresy reveals the tube's respective signature. I've also enjoyed higher (barely, ~25) wattage amps from Decware, first watt, and Schiit. If you like a very "live" sound you can't go wrong.

Mr Carlson, first off I am a subscriber of your channel and I absolutely love your work, but I'm an audiophile here of over 40 years plus, and YES I understand that companies have to have a certain price point in order to make money and keep doors open. But come on! You simply can't justify asking thousands of dollars for speakers that I could build myself for a third of the cost and make them even better. I have several of my own builds that would stomp these in any level, and this is coming from someone who has owned over a dozen different Klipsch models from their Heritage line. I respect your opinion here as always.

Great speakers indeed. If you're looking for more punch then the Forte's are the way to go. I have the Heresy II's and wouldn't trade them for anything. If you're old enough to remember (70's thru the 90's) we were all sold a bill of goods being told that more and more watts would make everything sound better. My Klipsch experience began in a pool hall where the owner had multiple series 1 Heresy speakers mounted like SkyFi Audio's shop. From there my best friend bought a new model in 1985 called the Forte. From then on it's been Heritage for me all the way. They're big, heavy, not cheap, a pain in the butt to move but once placed, glorious sounding.

Fernando, I started with Heresy back in '77. I experienced a pair that were mounted in a record store in Syracuse just like yours in the shop. Just two of them FILLED the store with incredible sound. Sold my books for that semester and bought a pair. But not before demo-ing K-Horns. After the dealer wiped the drool off my chin, I resigned to own a pair one day. Heresy were $450 in '77. They gave me full trade in value toward a pair of LaScalas 2 years later. They served me well. LOVED the look and design. In '81 a bunch of buds made the trip up to Erie Sound in Syracuse with a U-Haul trailer, traded in the LaScalas, bought 8 pair of Heresy (family and friends) and my K-Horns. Have had many an adventure with the K-Horns. I bought a vintage Conrad-Johnson tube amp from you last year. It sounds wonderful! A mere 33 watts can shake the foundation! So AWESOME that you are a Klipsch dealer! LOVED the video. PS The eight pair of Heresy are still in use by all parties to this day. Damned workhorses! I wrote a heretical story about my adventures with Klipsch. jamesbukowiec.substack.com/p/me-and-my-klipsch-948

Own the H2's after my H1's were stolen back around 1988 when my apartment was broken into. Bought my H1's from the audio / visual store on RAF Upper Heyford in 1981 for, I believe $500 for the pair. They had Cornwall's, La Scala's & Klipschorn's at what would be an absolute steal today. If memory serves the Klpschorns were $3000 a pair. I would love to pair My H2's to a McIntosh MA5300, maybe some day. Just love these speakers, they're so crisp and clean and such a joy to listen to.

I’ve only seen the Heresy online in black and cringed every time ! I’m clad you’ve showcased the black, they actually look very nice and the grills really make for an amazing looking speaker! I bought a pair of vintage Heresy ll last year in walnut (not sure if they had different finishes then) and I’m driving them with a modern Yamaha A-S501 in silver which not only ties with that vintage vibe but also sounds very clear and yet natural to satisfy the audiophile in me. I own ten pairs of different vintage speakers and the Heresy is my favorite. I can understand why it’s your go-to speaker in the warehouse! I enjoyed this video thank you!

If I had the budget I'd get these in a heartbeat. I've got a pair of Heresy II (in Cherry) with Crites x-over and tweeter upgrade. I put them up on short stands (about 8" and angled up) I have for JBL L112s. I've cycled through many speakers in my room including Spendor, B&W, Dynaudio, JBL, but I keep coming back to these. Even though they are a little colored sounding, they are also reproduce music in the most natural way. With a REL sub (don't be afraid to turn it up) and Line Magnetic tube integrated (KT88s) they are the best I can afford. 20 - 40 watts seems perfect. I like them better than the bigger Quartets. One day I'll upgrade to the IV or La Scalas

OF COURSE YOU DON'T WANT MICE AROUND YOUR CLIPS NOR ANYTHING ELSE FOR THAT MATTER BUT HUMANS ARE VERY MUCH LIKE THEM IN THE FACT THAT OUR CURIOSITY WILL COMPEL US TO DO THINGS THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE BEST FOR THE ITEM THAT WE WANT TO INVESTIGATE.. HONESTLY I HAVE NEVER BEEN A FAN PULLING APART SPEAKERS WITH A COST OF OVER $100 BECAUSE ONCE YOU'VE DONE THAT OUTSIDE THE ORIGINAL MAKER'S FACTORY.. Great video! Thanks. New subscriber. I power a pair of ‘82 Heresy 1.5’s with an early 90’s Proton AA1150. It’s a 50wpc dual mono power amp that has what was Proton’s(Fulet Co.) proprietary Dynamic Power on Demand feature that if needed can supply over 300watts for very short bursts giving it tremendous headroom. That being said, with its gorgeous large VU meters making up the whole front of the unit, it’s rare I need to go over 5 watts. The sweet spot is usually 1-3 watts. It’s why I love this unit coupled with the Heresy’s. I was surprised to see the much shorter mid horn compared to what’s in the H’1’s.

@@SkyFiAudio so you do respond to comments! A man of your word. That’s rare from RU-vid channels. Love it. The mid horn is almost the whole width of the cabinet on theses H’1’s. I actually bought the Proton in ‘91 from Crutchfield, not only because of the look of the amp, but mostly based on Julian Hirsch’s rave review of the amp, it’s specs and test results in Stereo Review. I almost let it go when AVR’s and surround took off. Glad I held on to it. Only the speaker relay switches needed replacing in 31 years.

Growing up, my brother had a set of these powered by a JVC HT receiver. Heresy II's I believe. Either way the JVC could power em all the way to max volume without the slightest bit of distortion. A little EQ and they never once sounded like they needed a sub!

its interesting how audiophiles are shaped by things they heard decades ago. I never forget a good sounding experience regardless of time. Thanks for sharing.

great, thorough video! would love to touch on a few other things as well, though. what's your opinion on the quality of the crossover parts in the heritage line? klipsch says they've been upgraded from past models. would also like to hear your listening impressions on these with mcintosh. i'm guessing you must enjoy the pairing as well given the mock system you built up with the heresys. i've got forte iv's and an ma2275 and have been pretty happy with the combination. hoping you dive deeper into these speakers and others from the line!

I tried them today with a pair of MC75 monos and they did great. Definitely not needed but a nice bump in bass impact and drive. I would have to open up an older pair to compare crossover quality.

Hello. Those rubber rings around the magnets are only there while shipping, you are supposed to remove them. edit: oh i see you mentioned this fact later in the video. Also, very nice shop you got, i like the athmosphere, lots of goodies :)

I'm sure there are better speakers available. There definitely are more expensive speakers than the Klipsch Heresy IV. Yet, I took the plunge last year on a pair of these and I have been very satisfied. The bass is good on these rear ported speakers. The sound stage is pleasing coming from my 45w/channel tube amp. Overall, I'm lighter $3000 bucks but happy with my speakers.

I suggest a Dynaco ST-35 at 17.5-WPC. Or, a Dynaco SCA-35. Have fun. If I were nearby I’d drop off my ST-35 which you could operate full range or run just the tweeters with it and something else for the mids and lows.

I have a pair of vintage Klipsch Chorus II with a 1990 build date walnut in color, sealed enclosure, 15" woofer with a 15" passive radiator on the rear. I have seen the Klipsch Foret IV that looks similar in size with what appears to be a wheat color grill. My speaker is 39" H x 18.5" W. If possible, I would like to upgrade my grills to the wheat color. Do you have any sources or direction I can take to purchase a different grill. Thanks in advance. '
