I recently replaced some cheap Klipsch bookshelf speakers I was using for surround with the RP-502S, matched with my Marantz SR8015. I thought it made a significant difference, with the bipole speakers sounding fantastic in my HT room. Moving to the bipole setup improved the ambient aspect of the surround, and I thought it was totally worth it.

At any rate, I wanted to comment how excited I am to get back to Klipsch with the new Reference Premier Line. I am designing a new home theater room with three RP8000F IIs to handle LCR. I will use RP600M IIs for the surround and back surround channels. Lastly I want to thank Paducah Home Theater for the reviews and Klipsch coverage....I can't wait to get back to that live and dynamic sound with the latest Klipsch RP range of speakers. Cheers gents

Over the years I have owned DefTech, Golden Ear, Paradigm and most currently Tekton Design. I currently have Tekton Design Moabs for my dedicated two channel system and Tekton Double Impacts for my main and center channel in my home theater flanked by Paradigm studio 60's for surround and rear surrond and four Golden Ear in ceiling 8" for height effects

I'm trying to decide on speakers for the "in-progress" HT. For a 7.1.4 arrangement, would the 502S-ii work well as the side surrounds? I like the fact that the backs would essentially be flush to the wall, where the 600M-ii should be off the wall some, but I question the drivers pointing away from the seating position.
@TopShelfAudio
@TopShelfAudio Год назад
Those would be great as side surrounds. If you go to the Klipsch website, click on the product, you can download the manual and itll show positioning diagrams that may be helpful. -Jason

I just took advantage of the Klipsch pre-Black Friday sale - ends tonight - and got my first set of Klipsch speakers, the RP-600M ii (through B&H photo/video). They should be delivered Wednesday. I can't wait to get them and set them up. My only regret so far is that I couldn't find a store in my area that had them to listen to so I just have to go by the reviews. I'm trying to slowly replace an anemic Polk satellite/sub 5.1 system I got several years ago. What center channel would be the best match for the 600miis??

@@TopShelfAudio Actually, I had afterwards gotten an R34C because where/how my TV was mounted it was literally the only one I could find that was skinny enough to fit between the TV and the AV shelf. I had since replaced my TV and found I had no choice but to hang it on the wall due to the mounting holes on the back of the TV were incompatible with the frame on my stand...result? I now have plenty of room for a bigger center speaker,, but I can't afford to replace the one I have for a while. The speakers sound great especially compared to what I had and I went ahead and bought the SACD/book combo "The Loudspeaker" by Octave Records (part of PS Audio) to try to get the most I could out of them. I have them bi-amped on my Denon AVR=X4700H and I feel it makes a difference in the bass response. I'm anxious to get my back-ordered speaker stands, though, as I'm sure, sonically, the wooden barstools I'm using now aren't ideal. PS the 504C was the one Klipsch said would be best to use with my speakers, but $600-$800 is out of my budget at this time. I've also thought of buying a single RP-600 Mii or Mi and using it as a center channel.

Currently I have the rp-8060FA as mains, 504C center and 502S as surrounds. I want to get atmos upfiring in the rears and dolby recommends direct firing. Would the RP-6000F + RP-500Sa on top be: 1.better for atmos specs and 2. Compliment the 8060fa? Any other better options for.rear?
@TopShelfAudio
@TopShelfAudio 7 месяцев назад
another pair of 8060fa's would be nice. the only problem is that the 500sa is more localizeable (if that's a word) due to the exposed woofer. the 8060fa is inset and encapsulated with foam so more of the sound appears to come from above you as it should.
@blue13x
@blue13x 7 месяцев назад
@@TopShelfAudio due to space, two more 8060fa wont be possible. Has that been your experience with the 500sa? Is the sound very localized?

I bought a pair of Heresy's when I was a sophomore in college back in 1982. I have been a music fanatic ever since. There is something about Klipsch speakers that I and other fans love that is hard to explain. I paid about 2 grand back in 1982 for my Heresy's and my dad had Bose 501s at the time. Very interesting listening comparison between the two. He had a 30 or 50 watt Sherwood receiver at the time driving his 501s. I came home with my brand new Heresy's and listened to them for the first time after purchase using the same Sherwood receiver. I was underwhelmed. The Bose had greater bass response but i though the Heresy's had greater clarity. Once I fed the Heresy's with more power I was immediately reminded why I coveted these speakers for their dynamic range, clarity and incredible punch....drum kit tautness from the snare to the bass was incredible even though the speakers did not go very low.

I don't understand what is the difference betweenRP-600M II to RP-502S II
@TopShelfAudio
@TopShelfAudio 7 месяцев назад
one is a direct radiating monopole with one woofer and one tweeter. the other is a trapezoid shape with two woofers and two tweeters that provide more ambiance and is often more comfortable at extreme distances.
@eltruheyo
@eltruheyo 3 месяца назад
@@TopShelfAudio when you say extreme distances, do you mean the RP-502S II would be more comfortable to the ear when it's than the RP-600M IIs?

Why dont you sell Klipsch anymore?
@TopShelfAudio
@TopShelfAudio 7 месяцев назад
I still sell Klipsch every day. I just took some of the reference premier off the site temporarily. People were driving me crazy with non-stop B-stock requests on the site chatter, which I took down as well. I am not in business to only sell B-stock at super cheap prices. Doesn't matter what brand. Going forward I'm separating that stuff into eBay only piles. Direct quotes and website stuff will be new A-stock only. Otherwise I apparently only attract people who expect cutthroat pricing then often complain about what they get. That's not where I want to be in my career. To be a healthy company we have to sell A-stock at a respectable margin. B-stock just needs to be icing on the cake if I can get a decent margin on eBay.

Can someone explain the difference between the 600ms and 502S using them as rear surrounds in a 5.1??
@TopShelfAudio
@TopShelfAudio 7 месяцев назад
in a modern atmos system a monopole like the 600m is technically most correct especially for rear surround. the 502s design was originally meant for 5.1 systems where it provided more ambience. However nowadays we can get ambience and a sense of height and everything else from all the different atmos channels. But, making this more complicated is that monopole horn loaded designs can be both large and uncomfortable when sitting close to them, so many people stick with the 502s, as they hug the wall better and are more comfortable in a near field environment when something is close to your head.
@neo4102
@neo4102 7 месяцев назад
@@TopShelfAudio Appreciate the input - I am leaning towards one of these as dedicated rear surrounds in my nearfield set up in a 11' by 15' room. I suppose if I was going atmos (which I am not) and/or had a larger room the 600ms would probably be a better buy as there would be less hotspotting?
@neo4102

would be cool but the very large surrounds don't sell nearly as well. the 502s is the sweet spot. Larger and you're just doing it for the bass response.
