Klong Jark (Chak), also known as Waterfall beach, is just north of Bamboo Beach inside of Bamboo Bay. It is about 5-10 minutes south of Kantiang Beach. This area has the majority of resorts and restaurants in the area.
The beach itself is made of fine sand with clear turquoise water. Klong Jark beach is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a quiet vacation on Koh Lanta island.
Inside of the small bay is Ban Klong Jark village. You can find a collection of some houses of local people who farm rubber plantations nearby.
Klong Jark beach is located in the southwest part of Koh Lanta island and is 40-45 min by taxi from Ban Saladan. The road to the beach is paved and it’s relatively easy get to the beach on your own by car or motorcycle.
Long less than a kilometer long, Klong Jark beach is quite wide and surrounded on both sides by high rocky hills. This natural shield protects the beach from high waves. In the bay the sea is calm and perfect for swimming. Coral reefs are along the edges of the bay and the central area of Klong Jark is mainly used for swimming.
The beach is in the shape of a crescent with soft golden sand, wrapped by shady trees where you can escape the hot tropical sun.
An hour's trek from the beach is the only waterfall on Koh Lanta. The best time to visit it is during the rainy season. During the dry season the water level will be greatly reduced and it’s not much more than a trickle. I opted not to hike to it from the beach due to the lack of rain during this visit.
On the same route to the waterfall you can explore the caves or ride an elephant through the jungle. If you just visit the beach it’s a great place to relax in a hammock with a book in your hand.
The beach is secluded and perfect for anyone wanting to get away. The sand is nice and the water is calm so a great destination for anyone with children wanting to get away and relax. It’s a bit more difficult to get to, being on the southern end of the island, but worth the effort to get here.
