I feel ya, I'm still an absolute Muppet, but I've put a lot of work into technical slow terrain in the woods, and I'm better than most of my friends at it, but the second we have to do something high speed I fall right apart. I'm turning 40 here in a few months, so I've decided I'm totally fine with that. I'm not an indestructible teenager anymore, and as always ny hat is off to Nick being the old guy in the field who is still competitive even if he doesn't podium often.
Totally agree I'm 46 just had a right knee replacement due to racing motocross and riding my whole life I've got a wife and two kids I will still be riding but it's just going to be Trail fun and riding with the kids maybe a track day here and there but nothing serious
I think you and Nick need to play a game of Horse with the bikes. Would be fun to see you coming up with different obstacles that you think the other one can’t do
Finally I was able to double blip because I saw the IRC tire guy video which explained it in very detail. Even I only used a KLX 150 but it was superior to my friend who used a KTM on hard terrain.
Man that looks fun. What a sweet setup he's got there. I too would ride every day if I had something like that haha. I know that's not an excuse, but still pretty sweet video!

Going fast is a mentality rich… you have to let go of fear and trust your skills and the bike. I do think some of us are guilty of over analyzing things to.. the fast guys don’t really analyze things they just go fast lol
@@IRCTireUSAMoto it sounds a cliche I know but one of my good friends is racing Canadian pro nationals and will say watching him ride is like watching an explosion lol.. his technique always isn’t perfect but he absolutely charges as hard as he can go into every corner.. he lands pinned off every jump it’s just like there is no holding back any where. It does not come for free though.. he doesn’t crash too often but when he does it’s usually going really really fast. And that’s where the line is drawn for speed for alot of us. It’s the fear of having a big crash and injury.
I see what you’re saying but if that was the case your buddy could come with his mentality and beat Nicks time. Or anyone with the right “mentality” could come lay down a heater. This reminds me of the guy that “sees red” and thinks he can beat up a black belt. That simply won’t happen. It’s repetitions, it’s dedication, it’s obsession. Plain and simple
@@IRCTireUSAMoto haha I love that analogy.. but you are absolutely right.. your technique and skill have to be at a level which can hold up which yours is.. I think it just comes a point when to level up speed you just have to start un corking it and honestly be a bit of a lunatic lol.. i know the biggest things that separate me and my friend I was telling you about is 10-15 seconds per lap time and a about a dozen broken bones 😆.
