These newer KLX 110’s are jettted lean from the factory to be US emissions compliant, to my understanding. My sons ‘21 KLX110L ran poorly and was hard to restart, especially during the cold season, until I went up 1 # richer on the pilot and main jets and installed an older model KLX110 adjustable needle jet and and went 1 clip slot richer. I was able to pop off the brass cap and successfully slot the air screw for fine tuning adjustments with a small flat blade screwdriver. His bike has been running perfectly for two years now.
Nice video! I live in Arkansas 400ft i build bikes sometimes my buddy brought few from Colorado years back we had to do all them ! One was kx500 death trap lol I rode it once
I put the new BH carb in today, fired it up, warmed it up, and figured I'd take it for a rip before adjusting anything (except turning the idle down just a little) and hoooooly fuck what a difference! After playing with the air/fuel screw it turns out it was pretty much exactly where it needed to be right out of the box. I really hope Kawi goes fuel injected next year like they should have a year ago to keep up with the Honda 110's. I hate carbs lol. But ya, this carb was a game changer!
Awesome so glad it did the trick I wanted kawi to go fuel injected too but after I thought about it I changed my mind they just need a better set up. Once you go fuel injected it's way more expensive to do mods you'll need a fuel management system and dydno tune for everything you do vs. Just changing a $2 jet lol my klx made me learn how to jet after pulling that damn carb off over 100 times 🤣 but in the end I learned alot and now it's not a issue. Everything is going e bike next year ktm coming with the 110 ebikes that's what I'm waiting for ..Honda and Kawi will follow ..instant torque for wheelies lol
Great explanations. Very helpful. I just did a carb clean out my my klx 110. Pilot jet is banged up need to replace it even cleaned up as is the Bike sounds much better now but gas drain line keeps leaking ( a lot) so back to the drawing board to figure that out.
Mine is also a 22 yup I ruined the stock carb trying to turn the air screw .it may have a brass cap on top need to drill it out .if all else fails get the $45 carb on Amazon was the best upgrade to my bike hands down
Nice video. I just bought a 2005 klx 110 for my son and I'm having the lean bog when cracking throttle, but steadily throttling it revs out nicely. Just did fresh top end and air box mod. The 2005 stock carb is jetted with 80 main and 38 pilot. You have a recommendation of what size jet I could try? Maybe 82/40?
Thank you. 82\42 and access to the air fuel screw is key . The taper on the needle for the stock carb is garbage. If you take it our and look at it .you'll understand. I don't know the number needle that I should be replaced with but on Amazon if you look up B-H motors carburetor for your yr klx it should be $45.00 . Direct bolt on with 42-82 jets and the correct tapered needle. This eas the best money o spent for my klx and it ran flawless after 4min of tuning the screw .it got rid of any flat spots in the throttle curve
@gsxrstyle Thanks I just ordered a few different sizes of mains and pilots from jets r us. They also sell the shim Washers so I grabbed some of those as well. On this carb there is a screw for adjustment unlike the newer carbs so I'll start with the 82/42 and go from there, thanks!
To take the choke off just remove the cable pull back the tab holding it, and take the cable off the choke arm and then you can remove it without taking the choke apart
I ordered the BH carb BUT do I still need to get a needle or jets or does the BH have the good needle and jets? I assume the BH has a useable fuel screw.
th carb has everything you need already installed for sea level to 3,000ft jetting .comes with the better needle and bigger jets and the important air fuel screw access. the stock air box mod and that carb combo makes the bike run tits with a nice upgrade in power and reliability
@@smoknjoe73 amazone type in BH motors carburetor for klx110 make sure it's for your yr it's direct bolt on but yo can swap out the slide from stock carb it has a coating for smoother operation
I'm not sure off hand if the bike is running turn one and see if the idle raises if not turn back where it was and try other .I have a horrible memory to be honest
OKOK I found him saying it on the video. THE FUEL SCREW IS ON THE LEFT ANGLING DOWN INTO THE CARB AND THE IDLE SCREW IS ON THE RIGHT AND FLAT IN THE CENTER OF THE CARB
@smoknjoe73 yes they do both change idle but one sticks out clear as day . glad you found the information you were looking for couldn't remember off hand been a while since I made the video and my memory has always been absolute trash 😄
Rejetting definitely helped alot but you really need access to the air fuel screw to fine tune to perfection. After I installed the BH motors carb I had my bike running absolutely perfect in less than 3 min best $45 I spent for the bike
Yes carefully drill a small hole in the brass cap then pull out with a pick or screw a slightly larger screw in the hole and pull out ..you will need a D style tool to make the adjustment though or bull out completely then notch a flat head shape and will be able to use a screw driver
@@TKallday45 I got the stupid little cap off the air/fuel screw on mine and it wasn't adjustable, mines a 2022. The "D" screw head is there, but I think they loc-tite the shit out of them so we can't adjust it. I totally rounded it off trying to get it to budge, fuckin stupid hahaha. I ordered the BH carb like bro said in this video, I'm hoping that works.
Guys can someone tell me where I can find the exact position of the fuel screw on this carb (where it should be)?? I bought this carb but then I messed with it and cant find the good position.
there is no exact position every bike is tuned to its motor but fully turn right going in clock wise until screw is lightly seated and then counter clockwise at 1.5 turns out up to 2.5 out and see how it's running
@@gsxrstyle thanks thats a starting point. I am also wondering if running no filter for a minute dirtied the jets but I put one in now. Its an older bike so may be dirt in tank even though I emptied it when I got it.
@smoknjoe73 I mean if you were riding it in dusty conditions then could have sucked dirt in but just idle or reving with no filter likely wouldn't clog the jets. if you unscrew the petcock under the fuel tank there should be 2 screen filters in the tank . I highly doubt those are clogged up .just pull the fuel line off the carb turn gas on and watch it flow out into a can or cup if it has a steady stream you are good . you should be running 42/82 jets if you are sea level to 3k feet elevation ..the idle jet hole is small so that clog easily take out and clean with carb cleaner and blow out with compressed air . you should be able to see daylight through it .check before clean and after
2022 klx110r... Ran like crap from factory obviously. Did the 42 pilot, 85 main and 1 needle spacer, still has those shitty flat spots in the throttle but it seems to have a little more pep to it. In neutral if I crack on it at idle it will stall. If it's in gear and I come to a stop there's a 50/50 chance it will stall. In gear with a couple small throttle taps to get moving, again 50/50 chance it will stall.... I'm about 5min away from putting this thing down range with 100lbs of tannerite and sending a 338 lapua at it 😑
Sounds stupid but try tightening the battery terminals and check ground .my bike was cutting out bad one time for no reason then stalling I tightened those and fixed issue after trying to jet every which way . Even though you re jetted it is still crucial to have access to the air fuel screw it will smooth out those flat spots .if you can't get to it oder the B-H motors klx110 carb for your yr bike it's $45 and comes with correct jets and needle plus air screw acces it's direct bolt on and cheap many have had great luck with it ..good luck
@@gsxrstyle Ya someone else somewhere mentioned the cables and ground somewhere and I've checked them and they're good... I managed to drill out that stupid little cap covering the air/fuel screw and bought the "D" screwdriver for it, and it I'm pretty sure they loc-tite shit out of it cause that fucker ain't moving, and it rounded off the edges of the "D" hahaha. Kawi needs to catch up and go fuel injected like the crf's!! I just ordered that BH carb, fingers crossed lol.
Yup that's what happened to me I screwed up the stock carb so bad it was junk 😫 and it's $160 for a new one if you can even find it .that's when I did some research and spent the $45 on that Amazon carb best money I spent on my klx took 5 min to get it running perfect with the air screw
@MotoVloggerNate it's called the B-H motors klx110 carb on Amazon make sure its the right carb for your yr.. I still had those flat spots too just spacing the needle and bigger jets the air screw is a must to smooth it all out .
Hahaha yea they definitely dropped the ball on that .the older models you had the option to adjust the air screw but all these environmental issues they ship the bikes out lean and don't want you to mess with the settings .I bought 2 off the show room floor and both ran like ass
