kmart 9 and harper St. Clair Shores Michigan Walk through 4k 

Man I miss this store, so many memories!!!

I thank you for this "walk through." So many cherished memories. "100 years ago" I worked there through college. At that time this store competed with one other in CA (I believe) for top sales. We could sell anything there and we did. The front was all glass (not the walls you see here) and as you entered the store the smell of popcorn and deli would hit you. That area was right across from the customer service counter (on the left). The "Midway" divided the store with apparel on the right and hardlines (merchandise) on the left. The location of the café or "Eatery" (as it was known) was on the back wall between those two sets of swing black doors (seen @ 4:34-4:36). Sporting goods on the back right wall, "notions" (yarn, fabric, etc…) on the far left. Toys was in front of that with the "Home Center" (tools, paint, etc...) off to the left while the "Garden Center" was on the far right.Of course, back then, this store also sold carpet, large appliances, shoes, guns and had a "Portrait Studio." And who could forget the great, well stocked auto dept.? They carried a full line of "high-end" car audio equipment. "In dash or under dash" car stereos with "60 watts of power!" That store was always a thriving, booming melting pot of commerce and people. From Gross Point to Warren, Roseville and Troy people came. Harper Woods, East Detroit (as it was know back then) and of course St. Clair Shores also saw hundreds of residence migrate to Kmart every day. So many memoires. …. 100 years ago.

I worked at the SCS location at Harper and 9 mile back in 1976. This makes me sad - it use to be the busiest store. I guess Kroger bought it.

The auto repair shop in the back got booted too. Raw deal for them.

Love the 80s music. Most of today’s music sucks. If 42 (43 in a couple of weeks) is considered old, then it is what it is. Again, most of what I hear today sucks!

I work here for a year and a half . I was surprised to see that this store was closing it was know as the top Kmart store in the state and in the district now the only Kmart around is Dequindre and 10 Mile. It's sad seeing it come down to this one store

Is that the one on grosebeck hwy? There used to be a Frank's nursery by that one I would shop there with my mother when I was young. Oh no that would be Harper or little mack

I grew up going to this Kmart store when I was a kid back in the 70s. It's so sad that it's closing. I can't believe it.

If you know these names: Mr. Pringle, Mr. Goodus, Mr. Brookbank, Mr. Gretch, Vito, Miss Duchane, JoAnne, Tim (MNGR), Mr. Sawyer, Rita Keys, Paul (MNGR), John (warehouse MNGR)...then you worked there in the early 1980's.
