Embattled retailer Kmart is set to close another Macomb County store.
This Kmart store, located on Groesbeck Highway near 15 Mile Road, will close
Until then, the store will remain open for customers, with a liquidation sale set to begin July 28.
“Store closures are part of a series of actions we’re taking to reduce on-going expenses, adjust our asset base and accelerate the transformation of our business model,” Riefs said.

Back in the day and I used to work at the Kmart located on Groesbeck Highway and Cass,in Mt Clemens from April of 1985,until May 8,1996.I remember when Kmart closed permanently on Sunday May 8,1996.I worked there for 11years. What is in the former,Kmart is a Planet Fitness Gym,Subway Submarine in the Kmart Garden Shop. In the former,Great Scott/Kroger part of the Kmart building is a Dollar Tree Dollar Store. And the former,Kmart Auto Center is a OReilly Auto Parts Store. And the Burger King out in the parking lot has closed permanently and left abandoned and that is the latest news concerning the Kmart that closed permanently on Sunday May 8,1996,on Mother's Day. 4:09

Feels weird watching this… I used to come here all the time growing up and I bowled on a league at fountain view lanes (right down the road from this K Mart) crazy to see this video after seeing all of it abandoned for years now. I guess they’re turning the old alley into storage units now

"Kmart hill" if ya grew up i this vicinity ya know what I'm talkin about. I had been goin to this one from my earliest memories, waaay back when they had the Cafe in the back. There was a woman who was raped and killed behind there rarly 2000s. The kid who did it went to Clintondale. I worked at Race Rock the last two years it was open. The current BK is where it was. Other locations changed: Kroger on Groesbeck was Great Scot!, Star Theater was Chathams Grocery Store, Harbor Freight was Franks Nursery, Wendys was Burger Chef/Hardees, McDonalds was next to the train tracks on 15, Kuhnnens was Evergreens (i live behind the wall, morw directly behind where Miss Qs was), the indoor gun range was a bar called Backwoods that my Mom worked at for 11-12 years.

Used to go there (that location) all the time in the 80s', then we moved across town and had anohter k-mart across the street from us. of course it closed a year+ago... damnit

if you watch this video and you see blacked out windows on the back wall of the store at the top of the wall that's where lp or lost pervention would lay down and watch for thieves that was before cameras

Yep. Worked loss prevention. Stayed a whole night locked in watching the night janitor mess around and eat food and ice cream and sing and dance with his mop. They had stools and binoculars especially on the north wall above what was then '73-'78 footwear.
