Great to see Knaresborough again, the place where I spent a year as French assistant at King James’ s School in 1967- 1968. I had a wonderful time . I wonder if the folk club ,close to the railway station , still exists. It was simply marvellous! Thanks so much for the walk! Christiane.

As a financial centre, Knaresborough is very diverse and rich in history

Knaresborough is my kind of place, rich in history, cobbled streets and beautiful scenery.

I'm from the States and spent one night in Knaresborough this past October,I stayed at The Mitre Inn and was up by the castle, but spent most of my time by the riverside, and behind The Mitre. I'm happy to have seen some of the upper town as I didn't venture up there. I'll have to return some day and explore it in more detail. Staying at the Mitre was great for catching the train in the morning, took about 15 seconds from the hotel to the platform ! Also have to comment on leaving the sound track natural instead of having music, I love to hear the sounds of the people, cars , birds, it makes you feel like you are walking the streets yourself, thanks !

A few years back there was a steam train on a regular summer excursion from Leeds via Harrogate and Knaresborough to Scarborough and back again. There was always a crowd to see the train and this bridge with a steam train I'm sure you can imagine that.

Thank you! I grew up in York and often had days out in Knaresborough with my Grandparents. We did lots of walking. There used to be a small Zoo in town back then and we always finished good weather days at the castle, enjoying the views, a flask of tea and if we were really lucky; a bag of hot chips!

I am so lucky since my son now lives there so I get free B&B! It is a beautiful little town. No one seems to know why some of the buildings are painted in black and white squares. I even asked the town Crier in the Pub next to the station one day, even he didn't know!

Thank you for a detailed walk in a short time, I'm sure you will be back to see Mother Shiptons cave and the old houses cut into the cliff face, for the railway enthusiast the signal box was built onto the end of a house in the same style, yes it's a great place steeped in history and thank you again for your efforts to film it.

What a beautiful place! I love Yorkshire and have visited York many times but not here, it is now on my to do list..many thanks for highlighting it. I think it would be a great place to stay for a few days to get some peace but still visit the surrounding busy places like York.

Been there 2 years ago. Absolutely stunning place full of history. Like a picture postcard. It was only an hour and a half I got whilst on a bus tour. Where we stayed in York. You need a full week to see everything
