Kata got buffed hard on the last seasons, especially her small tekken. On release she was underrated but not as strong as she is now.

Naw your forgetting the buffs. 44 string wasn't so solid and harrier follow ups were trash.

@@rpgtimefire she was never bad in online and a few buffs cannot make a character go from f tier to s tier unless the buffs are crazy like the ones leo got

@@Whitesoul-.20 one buff can make a character broken. I remember one patch they over buffed a law move and everyone was playing him destroying ppl. Its not one buff its multiple small buffs over 10 years. Her small tekken game is so much more cleaner now. Plus the ability to frame trap way easier.

Yeah input delay and general game feel

Not really. They mean that some chars are better in a quick ft2 match, rather than deathmatch. Knee and other Koreans still play deathmatches. Knee also plays a bunch of characters, so I assume he would choose different chars for each situation. Not riding his dick here, just don't think it's johns necessarily.

@@bennymountain1 no im just messing around cuz the two characters i main are uuusually considered hard to learn and not the beeest I picked em cuz they're cool to me, they both just so happen to be hard/not the best characters Edit: main is bryan cuz zombie cyborg is metal as fuck, secondary i picked up recently, drag, cuz he's kinda funny and awkward, but also cool grapples, i like grapples, and shit lows, cuz i dont wanna rely too much on bryan's strong lows (just if you were curious idk lol)

Tekken 7 on consoles has significantly more native input lag. This makes reactive play much harder - the risk of eating a strong mid while moving/fuzzying is increased while mixups are harder to block if you choose to stay still and avoid being clipped. Characters like Katarina are ideal for this environment because she has tons of fast and safe big hitbox buttons which constantly force reactions out of the opponent on hit and on block. Katarina and Claudio are still strong but high level players would be able to block, move and punish them bit more accurately on PC.

pc because there's no input delay. if you play on console, you're also playing against people with the same input delay as you though.

also PC because PC players tend to use ethernet cable as opposed to wi-fi

Power creep and nerfs

ikr. now we needs to send to bandi-namco that lei is very skilled and hard character to use properly and is hella tricky and fun.

Nerfs hit him hard. He has weak combo damage especially at the wall relative to other characters. Uf4 no longer knocks down and pushes comically far away so he lacks a mid to make hellsweep really scary to block. He still a lot of neutral interactions but his reward is so low it's easy for your opponent to hit you once and suddenly take the life lead. And of course he's still really hard.

Doesn't play himself, and the concept of mixing hellsweep with another mid is a bit far fetched for the average player.

I don't think he is trash but yeah he is more dependent on oki Rather thn damage

Backdash evades everything, so there is no consistent way to attack her without risking dying to whiff punish, running into 2,2 / jab / df1, or getting CH by SET 2. Do nothing, let them die. If 60s is almost up, you have completely ambiguous mixups and hopefully you've done nothing long enough to avoid telegraphing habits. Enjoy.

Devil Jin was heavily nerfed in season 4. U/f+4 no longer knocks down and gives no practical advantage on hit outside of the wall; b+2,1 is gone and a majority of Devil Jin players are very bad at setting up low slump cd+1.

There are some players who quite literally put a blanket on top of their hands to try to prevent their opponents from hearing the iSW or GS inputs.

@@Animetheplayer Probably still bad match-ups tier, honestly. Throws aren't that great in T7 regardless, and King's high hitboxes and average movement still make some match-ups kind of annoying. df2(1) CH is kind of the wild card, because that string is stupidly good.

@@thefabledenglishman6000 There are ways around that, which is doing feint and half inputs for chain throws, but it's way too much work and it's not worth it at times (taxes the hand too much with high chance of miss input).

I’d love to see a technical list of what damage Jin can get vs what Leroy can get since you can do certain moves after Leroy’s parry that aren’t the canned parry attack. It’s more difficult so you don’t see it that often but Knee was talking about hypothetical perfection.

@@lyricalsnowfall He doesn't have a consistent punish for b3. And because most of his good moves are pretty slow, cancan is an amazing move to just blow him up. If you play the matchup fast and force the Marduk to play to your pace, you'll have plenty of chances to get big big damage.

Forever mediocre tier

​@@lyricalsnowfallMarduk sucks when facing aggressive players due to slow startup frames. Several of asuka's buttons have either high or low evasion that allow her to catch off attempts at punishing her spam. The best way to avoid getting evasivelly whiff punished is by using fast mids vs her when she starts sequencing neutral/plus frames with evasion. But Marduk has zero fast mids (his mids might actually all be minus on block, cant remember). Either way, he has very few tools to deal with evasive pressure as long as you're in his face. Add to that Asuka's parry and you've got a ganeplan that consist of "get in his face" versus "run the fuck away so I can use my lanky arms". Please note that there's a difference between playing aggressively and playing unsafe though. Temper your aggression or you'll witness god in 4K.

He was already fairly solid. 2,1 is bonkers, df2 is one of the best keepouts, and he just has great range. The oki game is top

@@finnmarr-heenan2397 i see... Dont know about that thou ive never been had a game with a player using controller or right stick.. most people playing here are using arcade sticks and some korean levers are to loud ( neo knee lever,etc) clicking that you can hear the stick how they input it...

One monitor means you're sitting side-by-side and can see their hand movements Hwoarang has really bad matchups like Zafina and Kuni

For short tournaments when people don't know your patterns on the 50/50 she is a very dangerous character, even more than Kazuya. For long sets she is close to bottom 10 imo

Playing her at the moment and I'm not even that good with Anna...just playing her basics...do not expect a lot of elbow rushes from me...but people get very confused about her mix ups en speedy strings...Ok..higher ups will have it easy playing against her but her explosiveness and 50/50 is indeed what makes her difficult to play against.. And now I'm playing against a 3xS+ Anna....gonna get wrecked....🥲🥲😄😄

@@falo4043 I never understood that statement. In a long set, a good Anna has the time to adapt and condition you to her 50/50s and keep you guessing.

Kazumi is all about the players themself, sure its hard to win with kazumi , but winning against a good kazumi is even harder , they have tools for almost everything

​@@keidz03ps4 has 1/2 frame delay and pc dosent have any delay that's the thing I can share the video explaining the same so it becomes easier to put frame perfect commands on pc as per my experience myself

i just wanna say it’s pro play tier list, in casual play he’s still good i’d say but that can be said about every character tbh

i want to say the u/f+4 nerf is what turned many players away from DVJ. Don't play him myself but thats what sticks out the more from the Season 5 changes

What i've seen from playing him its he has low/avarage damage combo, quite bad mids, his cancel transitions can be interrupted, u/f 4 gives nothing, too much telegraphed moveset (like strings as d4 3, ff3 2 4, d/f 3 2 4), bad magic4 And then he has some stupid moves like u4 or the short imblok

My guess would be how hard he is to play well, especially when compared to other high tier characters who practically pilot themselves. DJ is still insane on paper.

With uf+4 nerf Devil Jin doesn´t have a scary mixup anymore. You can just duck against him at mid range and he won't have much tools to deal with it.
