You have to be a bit more than a casual to understand why the value was there for the Knicks to trade those picks for Bridges. The way the CBA is today you can't have more than maybe 2 max contracts on your team, Bridges may not be an all-star as of today, but his contract is VERY team friendly. If you compare it to Paul George for example hes being paid 30+ more mil a year. These types of contracts are what is so valuable to a team like the Knicks who are in win now mode. Its much more than just that as well with team chemistry, age and what not. It is a situation where the value is hard to see but it is 100% there.

The thing about the Knicks is that they are going to be 8-10 deep with players that Thibs trusts and wants to play. So he won't need to overplay anybody.

If they re-sign Hartenstein, I get rid of Randle. Not needed and alleviates over crowded roster. If they can't re-sign Hartenstein, I keep Randle and play him a good part of the time at the 5. There will be times when they are too small, but keeping Robinson and Achiuwa would give the Knicks some size.

NONE of the Knicks players last season were in the top 10 MPG in the NBA. You had to play the "starters" so many minutes in the playoffs because you had no players on the bench that were capable of helping you win, its that simple. Randle, dislocated shoulder, freak injury. Mitch, broken foot, not even midway through the season. Brunson, broken hand in the playoffs. OG, strained hamstring, on a fast break sprint going full speed. Even his players said he doesn't work them hard on practice. They prioritize the mental aspect and watch video to have mental repetition of where they need to be and what correction they must make game to game. These 🤡 takes and narratives are tiresome and lazy.

Terrible trade. Bridges is a solid player, but this is just stupid. All you needed to do was to get your team healthy and reload for the next season after signing OG and Hartenstein. You also had massive draft capital so you can continue the pipeline of new talent. Big mistake.
