I think it’s awesome how you recycle! I enjoy doing the same thing. I think part of the fun is to make what you have work and figuring out how it goes together. Like you did with the anchor bolt.
Gary Houston BlackSmith built one much like this but your's tilting and good addition for the built I will do some figure I'll make one to handle lawnmower blades also thanks for the teaching Sir and I'll get back to knives and hopefully get your advice on knives also so I subscribed 👍 thumbs high!
Today I finished my and much like yours ( pretty much copy yours. Did check out several videos of others building much like yours. Thanks for the teaching Sir
Love the extension and the whole build. Except your logo I'll add mine and build this Thanks and very easy video. So many builders think I need to hear hammering and grinding but I don't like the noise also my family is sometimes present Thanks
I work building exhibitions in a museum. I work in various materials of varying shapes. I could see making different clamping plates to fit different shapes - round, square, tapered etc. Brilliant design, well crafted, a pleasure to watch. Thank you
Very nice off the cuff build, one little extra, I'm thinking an adjustable extension off to the side for a rod attached to a stone or file to shape/sharpen the edges of the blade, you have the long tongue to support the blade during the shaping/sharpening process.
Great build..the only other feature could be a different base plate such as a half circle / protractor style base to make a swivel base to clock it at different angles besides the 90° to the work bench without having to remount it if needed from time to time..might never use the feature but it would be ready if needed..like a swivel base bench vise has..A full circle base would limit the tilt down feature so a half circle 180° swivel may be the best option..
I do like your design and looks cool, however it can be improved, putting at stop pin trough the inner pipe to the aluminum would prevent the jaws from sliding off, dont have to hold them when taking the blade off or adjusting position of the vise. Thanks
Finished my vice, the only real change I made was the baseplate where I used some angle iron. I can then either clamp the vice to my bench or use my bench vice to hold this knife vise. I powdercoated it with Dulux natural bronze, all i need to do now is design a logo.. drive.google.com/file/d/10f0qxvho1-afmbwZvpELvqk1IT7rXmok/view?usp=sharing
@@knarsdaleforge2787 I couldn't link your video in the main part of the post, FB rejected the post but I could as a response, go figure.. Thanks for the idea, now I need to make a knife! :)
