ABOUT KNIGHT RIDER:
David Hasselhoff stars as Michael Knight in his breakout role as a crime fighter who awakens from a serious injury with a new identity. In the series premiere, Las Vegas police detective Michael Arthur Long is shot in the face and left for dead before being rescued by dying millionaire Wilton Knight, the chairman of Knight Industries and creator of the public justice organization, the Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG). Wilton makes Michael the primary agent for FLAG, giving him a new identity via plastic surgery and the name Michael Knight, plus an arsenal of equipment to continue his crime-fighting work. Principle among this equipment is the Knight Industries Two Thousand, or KITT, a heavily modified and artificially intelligent Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with the ability to talk, fire weapons and travel at high speed. Michael and KITT work together to take down criminals who operate above the law.

OPMaster1978 I agree completely, and KITT was way ahead of his time. A lot of his technologies (navigation, self-driving/parking, talking, etc) are becoming popular in cars of today!

If I'm not mistaken, the narrator is Richard Basehart. According to IMDB, he was also in an episode of Knight Rider as "Wilton Knight".

nah, kitt was using an hydraulic suspension, which was already used in citroen's car ( a french car bran ) since 1955 ... You can saw the hydraulic button on the switchspod in an episode ^^

Yeah I thought I was so awesome with my Nokia 3310 back in the day, it was the most advanced and coolest phone back at the time and I had the Knight Rider ringtone as well. Now I couldn't care less about the make or model of my phone but back then it was important for some reason. Guess priorities change as you get older. Loved watching this show when I was a kid but the intro was kinda haunting for some reason as a young child

This was a true family show: Guys liked it because it was action packed. Ladies liked it because of the handsome guy playing the lead role. As for us kids, we liked it because we all thought that K.I.T.T was the coolest car in the world.

This is so iconic for that era. At least 50% of the coolness of a show is its musical theme. And in the 70s and 80s we had a plethora of shows/cartoons that could be recognized from their music. This was one of them.

Human beings are wired for FEELINGS - and music is a major component in putting us in that mood or state of mind. Music puts us in a state we want to feel and as long as that happens - you have a timeless classic. The build-up and tension that emerges until KITT shows up and lyrics set in - just damn.

Music definitely is interwoven into humans DNA or brains . Its why when you go to the gym you'll see people with headphones listening to music to give them increased motivation . I spend on average 4 hours per day almost every day in the gym and the music I listen to is all motivational music . Music that makes you feel indestructible and (without knowing it or being aware) the music has also improved my confidence, self esteem and social anxiety . When you're listening to upbeat positive stuff for hours every day it changes your mindset and thoughts . I guess the increased cardio and fitness also helps . But music unlocks and activates something in human brains thats for sure. Just like you could have a playful kitten thats cute and adorable but if you show it a youtube video of mice running around it just unlocks the cats hunting and predator instincts and those instincts will override everything and it will start attacking your computer screen like it believes its a lion lol

Used to watch this at my grandmothers house back in the 80’s on a illegal antenna that my dad had installed during the Soviet era who blocked all access to all American and European TV shows. Such a sweet childhood memory... by the way the show was in Turkish because they were the closest country where the show was broadcasting ...my grandmother had to translate...and the only reason she spoke turkish was that she and her family were deported from Western Armenia back in 1915 during the Genocide...which is now occupied by turkey.

My parents visited Romania before the wall came down in 1988. It was still under Soviet control. We are bilingual and speak Portuguese. There were people following this small of Americans. While my parents were sitting at Breakfast in the hotel a man sat close to them. They started speaking in Portuguese LOL. They were nobody important. Just simple missionaries visiting the country. But what wonderful stories I heard about the people in Romania.

This show was it. When they started running the trailers for it- weeks before the first episode, we were all beside ourselves waiting for that show to air, nothing like it had been on TV before that. It was another level. This and A Team created a genre that was all about weekend TV.

watching it again as a 44 year old I now realise how many innuendos and adult jokes in that show that must've gone straight over my head as a child, its like discovering a whole new show all over again, its such a great part of my childhood, I feel sorry for todays kids who missed out on awesome shows like this, I'm just thankful for DVD and Blu-ray so these shows can go on and live forever for future generations to enjoy and fall in love with

I'm an 85 baby so although it was my era, I grew up watching the reruns in the mid to late 90's on Saturday morning in the UK, back then I had no idea how old the show actually was but it was the reason I woke up first thing Saturday morning to watch week after week month after month (and Power Rangers) - kids TV in the 90's was great! Iconic!

I disagree. Without David Hasselhoff's charm and charisma this show would never have been as great as it was. Michael Knight and KITT formed a perfect partnership and it was their communication and respect for each other that made the show.

There was once a time when children actually played outside, and upon hearing the intro through someone’s overly loud TV set, the streets were cleared in a matter of seconds. THIS SHOW WAS THAT REASON!!!

KITT was featured at Universal Studios in the '80s. My family visited there and I got to sit in the car and talk to KITT. Of course, I thought it was a real talking car. I asked KITT why he drove so fast. Did he ever fear getting pulled over by the cops? KITT said he wasn't worried about it because he could drive faster than the cops and escape. Hahaha.

Yes I remember talking to kiTT as well, as a kid visiting Universal Studios as tourists in USA. I cant remember our conversation but it was the coolest thing. I remember buying a couple of souvenir toy KiTT cars afterwards.

I loved Knight Rider. Didn't always happen but I tried to never miss an episode. I really enjoyed all the action shows featuring iconic vehicles. Knight Rider, Street Hawk, Blue Thunder, Air Wolf - Just to name a few.

Current generation person here! My dad showed me this show and I liked it a lot. I’ve seen a few episodes so far. I can definitely see why the previous generation before today enjoyed the show! KITT and Michael make a pretty awesome duo!

I love the exaggerated breathiness and hesitancy of his delivery here. Vincent Price did this kind of thing too. It sounds a bit artificial and hokey now, but it was part of an earlier generation of oratory and delivery that’s still fascinating to listen to. Same goes for the stentorian announcer voices they used to have on shows like Superfriends.

When this show was huge, my dad was the GM over Pontiac at a big car dealership. He used to bring demos home a lot. One day he brought home a black Trans Am that looked exactly like KITT. That was the coolest car in the neighborhood. Naturally it didn’t last long at our house since it was bought quickly. He said that Firebird/Trans Am sales did really well due to the popularity of KITT.

Theme song is epic! When I watched it as a youngster everything was so cool, the car, the stunts, the good vs the bad guy. We even named our cat “Kitt” and when my sisters and I saw the car at Disneyland that was the best!
