This show was way ahead of its time, and the shameful part is even with all the technology and resources that we have today man could not never successfully build a KITT like car today
That's b/c this episode was produced first, and all episodes in each season are out-of-sequence. Want proof? Look at the "Pursuit" light by the voice modulator. It's the same color as Season 1 (and some Season 2). Blind Spot has it in red, like some Season 2 + Knight of the Drones (Season 3).
Hello again, actually the episode the trajectory function first appeared in was "Blind Spot". And even though that was broadcast long before this episode "Big Iron", it was actually produced a few episodes after this one. Which is why the trajectory function in "Blind Spot" was used as though KITT had the function for sometime.
unless I missed something aside from the deep breath of air he was holding, once they got out and before they landed I don't recall seeing the window roll down to bring more air inside, when he yelled out loud, he used what air there was left in his lungs. and the air in the car was used up. wouldn't he have passed out?

You were buried Alive in a Car? How the hell did that happen? And how do you blow up an engine from inside in the passenger compartment? Thats assumeing of course you were in the passenger compartment at the time.
