The advantage here over Vice Grip brand pliers: the release lever extends beyond the lower handle. I can't tell you how many times I had to get another pliers to squeeze the release on a VG plier
Knipex tools are all very high quality. You just don't understand how you got by without their version of tools before you've used them. I have their parallel pliers and their automatic wire strippers... they're just totally amazing tools. They're expensive, sure... but DAMN are they top quality in every possible way.
@@MainelyEverything Ive a box full of mole grips I use when welding ,,, i buy them purely because the release works the other way than vise grips , they are easier to release with thick welding gloves on ,,,
I would like to know WHY these vise grips allegedly release easier. Those release levers operate on exploiting a fulcrum that makes it easier to release than clamp. What is special about these? What is the PSI difference between the strength needed to release these pliers compared to generic brands? The only thing that I have ever found that makes a difference between one pair of grips and another is the quality of steel it is made from.
It's a euro style release compared to the original Vise Grip. Basically instead of having to push them together to undo the torque of the clamp all that's needed is just to pull the red lever. I like it better. Although I will say I went to these from old vise grips. The new eagle grips from malco I think have the original design and open even easier than these do. Project Farm had a good video on em!
@@MainelyEverythingThis in no way describes how these are different, or how they perform differently to regular grips. Your antecedotal testimony is indistinguishable from a sales pitch. Provide me a cost/performance quotient and I am sold.
@@semorepagne9996 like I said there are videos that do this. The malco eagle grips are probably the best made grips out there if thats what youre looking for about $44. Project Farm has a super good video he gets in depth and tests them. I'm not trying to sell anyone on anything as that's not what I do. There wouldn't be a point for me to do that as I'm in no way compensated for doing so. The video purpose was to show the release mechanism and tool itself. I haven't taken them apart and compared internals to others nor did I make these grips. Like I stated I went from some old vise grips to these so the being able to operate the release from super tight clamp force with one hand was super!
@@semorepagne9996 The main advantage of the Knipex is the direction of the force required to unlock. It's a squeezing motion, in the same direction as the handle requires for locking. So when the pliers unlock, the user is still holding the pliers in the natural way and they stay in the hand. Unlike vice grips which require the lever be pulled in the opposite direction, away from the locking and closing force. When this is done with vice grips, they tend to open violently, jettison out of hand and fall to the floor. The Knipex allows the user to maintain a grip on the pliers and stay in control during unlocking.
I’m a Knipex fanboy. I bought 4 of these. returned. NOT worth it. cool release, but the actual plier build isn’t special. Stock up on malco before they’re gone.
The name and company is German. In German you pronounce the "k" when there is a "kn". Unlike English where the k is silent in that situation. Also has been confirmed.by the manufacturer many times.
