Yes Kim, you truly ARE A KNITTER! Just brilliant calculations and I love the facing on the inside of the cardigan. I have sewed all my life and I too feel the inside should look as great as the outside! Wear your sweater every time as I will never tire of admiring it! You have inspired me to take on one of Marie Wallin's beautiful designs and thank you so much for sharing all the tips and tricks you did to make it an easier project. Having the center perfectly is the most important thing and yours is brilliant. I have a steek sweater in process from a few years back and I have most of it done but you know how things get set aside....I am going to pull it out to finish. It is the Hedgerow Cardigan and I changed all the colors so it would have a more Southwest vibe and spit splice most of my color changes as they did not go the full row. Something the teacher at the time should have told me would make it so much easier. Arne always puts a facing inside, and I like that more than just a ribbon to cover the steek. Thanks for the inspiration and hopefully I can finish mine. I have the sleeves done, just need to be sewn under the armholes, and just a few rows left at the sweater top. Bad habit of mine setting things aside when they are near finished. Also, Jonna, I Iove the colors of your Soldatna. I printed out my pattern and am going to go in stash and start pulling colors. I am glad you found each other as I am alone and it is the You Tube Knitting Podcasts that have kept me sane while in isolation. In the end of October 2021, I lost my Shepherd Sonja suddenly, and my little black dog who loved her so much passed the middle of December as he was heartbroken without her. I have never had two dogs that just lived and loved for each other so much. They were both strays and were my babies. They were my family and brought so much joy and light into my life. So, it has been hard for me now really being alone as I miss them so much, but your podcast I just found today and you are so fun to watch and have brought new life into my home. I am so glad I found you, and thank you so much for taking the time to podcast. Happy Knitting! Sandy

Wow! Sandy, I’m so happy you found us too! Please pull your Hedgerow out and finish it!!! And if you’re on Instagram, use #showkimandjonna so we can see it! And your future Soldotna too! Jonna has made 2 of them and they are both gorgeous! I’m so sorry to hear about your wonderful dogs. It must be so lonely without them. 😢 If you lived near us, we could meet and knit together in person to keep you company, but for now, our channel will have to do. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments. ❤️ Kim

Hi Kim & Jonna - I have been watching your podcast for months and somehow I missed this episode. This explanation of your methodology Kim is intense and yet if I were to endeavour to do that cardigan or another complex colour work knit I would probably do something similar. Because the analysis & planning is my MO for challenging projects, etc. That said, while I knit I get into the process…so I have a hint of Jonna too. Cheers to you both!

Wow! Kim! What a feat of sweater engineering. Thanks so much for going through this project in so much detail. It was good to know that converting a flat pattern to an in-the-round pattern is not always as simple as we think especially in colourwork. So many of Marie Wallin's patterns are designed flat - there is one I have been considering converting (also sizing up as it is not size-inclusive) so you tips are super (!) helpful for if/when I ever get to the project.

Wowza! Had to come back and take another look at that amazing Orkney! Did you use the original colors? For some reason my Felted Tweed always looks so dull, but your colors are so vibrant and beautiful! Have purchased the pattern, and added it to my ever-growing queue of Marie Wallin projects. Fabulous, fabulous knitting, Kim!

Hi Kimmie! Thank you so much for your sweet comment. As far as swatching goes, I usually just dive in because I am so anxious to get started. This said, once I had to frog a whole sweater because it was SO big! This was before I really knew anything about my knitting gauge. I tension my yarn differently now. I use Ravelry a lot to keep track of the needle sizes I use with various yarns, so now I have some reference, too, if I need it. Thank you for tuning in! Jonna

Ha! Great minds. I'm just finishing up a Fair Isle pullover for my husband (late Christmas gift) and I'm doing my sleeves the same way. Still catching up on all your videos. This was a great and very informative one. Kim, you have mentioned in several episodes how you use your journal to record everything you do. I would love to see a more detailed (tutorial) to be able to apply it to my own knitting. Also Jonna, I would really like to learn more about ways to use Ravelry. I realize I should be able to "run" with what you have mentioned in previous episodes, it is just difficult for me to capture it all and apply it. Perhaps there are more people who would be interested as well. I am aware that is a tall order, so no worries if it doesn't work for you. In any case I truly appreciate and enjoy the two of you! Thank you for sharing.

I don’t usually do that (too lazy! 😂) but it’s a great idea. However in this case, in doing my 2 year planning for the project, I found out that there were mistakes in the charts, so I asked Rowan to send me corrected charts. Which they did. I learned of your podcast yesterday and I'm now binge watching the episodes. This is just the kind of knitting and the type of podcast I like. I'm impressed with your Orkney. I went stash diving and found that I have enough to make one, except for one ball of yarn! Did you use the same colors as Marie? I made her Lovage sweater and will have to do some surgery as the sleeves are too long. I hope you'll continue to podcast for a very, very long time! Thank you. Joanne (JConklin on Ravelry)

Hi Joanne, Sorry for this very delayed response, but the last month and a half have been difficult over here.
