i'm glad you made this video. I went onto Knitpicks yesterday looking for some more bulk bare yarns, and saw the wholesale thing, and noticed that it also seems to be only available in USA and Canada? for that, making it unavailable for Australian (where I am) or other countries, as far as I could tell. Which of course isn't exactly a HUGE problem, there are plenty of places you can buy bulk yarn in Australia, and other countries, so there's that...

I'm not sure if it is only available in the US and Canada - it could be worth reaching out to the whole customer service line (the phone number is on the application page.)

@@ChemKnitsTutorials i might have to do that, though those were the only shipping options that they seemed to have at the time of my looking. maybe its just something they haven't really thought there would be a large enough call for right out of the gates.

That black surprised me. At first it reminded me of something cruella d’ville would wear- then you stirred it and it looked almost completely black- but surprise again- the final product was equally beautiful. Together with the yellow-it is a stunning combination. Good job.

I was hoping that it would result in thick specks, but there was SO MUCH dye in each clump that it couldn't all dissolve and strike in one spot.

I'm not sure if it is gone for good - people should email customer service and ask for it to come back! But for now it appears to be gone.

The black turned out super fun! I wouldn't love dyes milled this thick for regular use, but the little sample is fun to play with.

Hi! Reddit just sent me to your channel and I'm already hooked! I know you're already busy filming videos and dyeing beautiful yarn, so I understand if you don't have time to answer my question, but I'll try anyway :). I bought some KnitPicks bare wool of the Andes Sport weight hanks last winter. Finally got around to knitting a baby blanket with them and realized I'd need another one. Of course this long after, I got a hank from another lot which is slightly more yellow. Do you have experience dyeing slightly different bare lots? I was hoping I could finish my blanket and solid color dye it, but I'm an absolute newbie when it comes to dyeing, and worry if the color change will show post dyeing too.

Hi, Ida, welcome to the channel! I haven't tried to dye a dye lot a slightly different color. If you still have the older yarn labels sometimes you can search Ravelry by yarn color and dyelot to see if there is someone who would trade. (I've never done this, but it used to be a thing years ago.) Is the blanket a solid color? You might be able to do a slight shift in the color tone with food coloring, but it could end up making the color different overall. If you have Ravelry feel free to send me a DM with some pictures. I'm @chemknitsblog over there. I tend to see new comments on RU-vid but I don't often see replies after I've commented on a thread. (RU-vid gives me a list of comments I haven't replied to.) I hope some of this helps a little bit!

Thank you. I recently was on their site and noticed the changes. I was disappointed. As i like to try some of your techniques, its just a hobby, no visions of a business. Mostly fingering for shawletts, socks. But still it was disappointing. It would been nice to have seen a notice, of course they don't owe us, the general public, an explanation. It just would have been nice that's all. Thank you for stepping up, & informing us.

I'm surprised the notice was sort of quiet. It would be wonderful if they would bring the bulk bare yarn back for hobby dyers! I think people should reach out and request that they bring that option back. I got an email about the wholesale, but maybe because I buy SO MUCH bare yarn they have me on a different list for emails?

@@ChemKnitsTutorials I got the Wholesale notice and I'm not a huge buyer - I'm a hobby dyer for friends & myself and only would buy in bulk a few times a year. This is super disappointing because I didn't realize they'd be taking our options away.
