Dear Tiffany, I'm Shreya, a very young knitter who is quite passionate about the craft (I'm still learning, lol). My grandmother taught me how to knit, which is an amazing ability. Even though this talent is now viewed as being highly outdated and unusable (at least where I live), I'm quite happy to be able to follow along with this wonderful skill. I've been a subscriber of yours for a long time, and OMG! 😭😭 You've INSPIRED me so much I can't even begin to explain it. You have taught me so much. My cable knit vest was my first project that I really finished, and now I can't stop. I wish to make the Knitted Streets of Copenhagen Sweater. It is really stunning and already appears to be cozy for the upcoming winters. The general fit is made even more beautiful by the cable knits around the edges. I'd want to create it and wear it with my favourite blue flared trousers. Love you, Tiffy, and best wishes for the future. 💖💖
I cannot stand when patterns don't include the mm of the needle. I know I'm American, but I am also a crocheter. I never learned the letters for crochet hooks, I've always just used mm, and I don't intend to learn the US numbers for needles. So again, frustrating.
Totally disagree. Imperial measures are for old schoolers who cannot understand metric. The publisher of this book caters to that demographic. Thank goodness! 😊
@@mariemcintyre6403 I have no problem with the inclusion of imperial measures. I just don't like the exclusion of mm measurement. I don't see why publishers can't include both.
Have really loved the Barbroe blouse for a long time, but after seeing all the patterns I’m also really excited about the darling wrap and the longer cardigan (but seriously would have to save up for that yarn!!). All the patterns are gorgeous though! Thanks for giving us such an in depth look at the book.
The darling wrap and barbroe blouse are so sweet! I have a crazy amount of heavy merino that I can’t decide what to do with but now I’m thinking the chunky rib sweater would be perfect!
I am most drawn to the fennel sweater. I love the deep v, I could see myself wearing it with a fun graphic tee underneath or alone with layered necklaces. I feel like I haven’t seen many patterns like this on ravelry. Love the difference in ribbing on the neck vs. the body. I’ve convinced myself through this comment that I now must knit this for spring!
all the patterns look stunning, but the oversized coziness of the Knitted Streets of Copenhagen is calling me TT. the Barbroe blouse is also super cute!
I wish they had a book with all of their kid patterns because I LOVE them. They're so we'll written and thought through. I would buy that one in a heartbeat
the chunky rib sweater is such a vibe- i'd love to try my hand at that one, particularly as someone who mainly only knits sweaters but hasn't yet delved into a ribbed style!
I’ve knit the puff tee before and it was also huge! Going to have to make another one in a smaller size in the future. The chunky rib sweater is such a great staple sweater I would love to knit!
So so excited by the Darling wrap !! Currently 5 months pregnant with my first baby and I intend to knit a lot as I’m due in February and it’ll still be cold in France. So the darling wrap is the first one I intend to do, perfect for nursing ! Edit : without the mm for needles and grams for skeins it’s going to take a lot of brain cells to figure out how much of which yarn is needed. For one I’ll have to knit samples and test my gauge 😂
I’m a beginner/intermediate knitter and I think this book has a great mix of basic and more difficult patterns! I agree, as a Canadian it would have been nice to include metric values as well but somehow this feels so classic to forget we use metric 🙃 I would love to make the chunky rib sweater! Seems like a perfect basic to rotate in my work wardrobe for the winter! And the Chrysler top is now for sure is on my 2024 summer knit list! 😍
I would knit absolutely every single pattern in here! Stand outs would be the 4X4 rib sweater or the last one, Barbroe Blouse. Think of her in an orange...it would be so good in cream or blush pink... I think this would be a good book for someone wanting to level up their techniques! And knitting for olive yarn can't be beat! I would love this book so much in my collection for winter knitting : )
I’ve been wanting to knit the puff tee for a while and would probably start with that. I’m also intrigued by the Aviaya sweater which looks a bit more challenging.
Thank you for the review! Your critiques are so valid. I also would have liked to see more color choices. It was very beige for how much color variety their line has. This being said, I totally want to make the chunky rib sweater or the dahlia one!!
No worries about the needle sizes, I would just write the mm needle size in the book. I’d love to knit the Truffle Sweater!! A perfect variation of a classic.
I've had my eye on the darling wrap for some time now. The wrap top has been super trendy, but that's really the only pattern I've seen that's almost convinced me enough to buy the pattern. The all over ribbing would kill me, but I think it'd be worth it. Also the waffle sweater... I have some non-mohair lace yarns that I would love to use for that, but what a beautiful airy sweater that is. Also thanks for such an in depth review. The sizing/metric system threw me off and is definitely something I would have overlooked looking at any sort of knitting book. Even though I am American, when it comes to knitting, the metric system both for garment measurements and needlesizes just work better in my brain and it's the primary system around the world so i just assumed every knitting book would have at least both... so definitely some math is gonna be required, but this looks like such a beautiful book with some pretty classic patterns
Thank you for your review. I don't purchase books/patterns which don't include the metric system as it's just too confusing for me to convert the numbers. I end up just avoiding a pattern like that. So I'm really glad that you mentioned that point. Shame though as the patterns look very nice. Hopefully they will include the metric system in any patterns they choose to release singly on Ravelry.
I fell for the chunky knit top the first time I laid eyes on it! I’m a huge KFO yarn fan and am constantly looking for patterns that can help me stash bust KFO so I can buy more haha this book would be perfect!
I look forward to looking through the book and deciding on which sweater to knit. Most likely “it’s not a sweater” pattern. Look forward to knitting something.
I was so excited to finally get my book. I too preordered and had it canceled and basically bought the book for the barbroe blouse. Also had the puffy sleeve on my list, that chunky sweater looks awesome - won’t be making a four strand mohair sweater unless it’s a scrappy sort project. I’m Canadian living in the us - so I go back and forth between the two systems. Don’t realtor see anyone measuring in oz - they probably thought it would be expected and they were trying to be helpful. Anyways happy knitting!
Thank you for reviewing! Super helpful to have this review to see if I’d buy the book (or ask for it for Christmas haha). Would love to make the chunky rib sweater and Barbroe top.
The Chunky Rib Sweater and Darling Wrap are the two patterns I’m most excited about. I’ve had my eye on them for a while. I love the value of a knitting book, so many patterns in one place. But I also don’t know the practicality/function of it. Typically I either print a pattern and keep it in my project bag or I work from a digital copy on my phone. I did by my first knitting/crochet magazine in August at Flock (and edition of Pom Pom), so I guess I’ll see how it feels to work from that as a test drive 😆
Charles Grey cardigan is just 😍awww although I don’t feel like I have either the silhouette or the money to afford that amount of knitting for Olive yarn This being said… my first time here and I appreciated so much your honest opinion on the book and the way how you went through those while book analyzing the patterns. Def will come back again for more Ty
I don't knit sweaters often, I mostly knit hats (speaking of which, the hat selection in this book is kind of disappointing ), but that Aviaya sweater looks like just my cup of tea! I love the texture that makes it look really unique.
Ooo I’ve been eying this. Such beautiful designs! I agree they shouldn’t have omitted the metric system from the book but just added inches and US needle numbers. Most measuring tapes, balances, and needles include both systems on them so it would have been nice to have the options. I use both depending on what I’m doing…except ounces. No one uses ounces for yarn lol
ngl the chunky rib sweater in that red 👀 tbh i don’t really look at patterns from yarn brands/sellers but just watching this video influenced me to start
I'm excited to knit the darling wrap! I actually just bought Spektakelstrik's book Gentag in Danish (even though I don't speak or read it at all) so I feel you about waiting for this book!!!
18:28 The Natural Lace top would be the first pattern for me to knit. I live in the southeast US but need some sweaters for when I travel to the "frigid north" that are easy to pack. Thanks for the review!!
