This Michigan hunt was an absolute knockout! All joking aside, we had a really great time with the whole crew, and we're thankful that Cade is doing well after being literally knocked out cold by a falling honker. If the hunt wasn't memorable enough as it was, that ensured that it'll be one we remember for years to come! Hunting with the new friends from our Facebook group was a really nice change of pace! We may have to do more of that in the future!

I have a cousin-in-law that was goose hunting once and shot one, then turned to shoot at another. When the first one came down, it hit him and nearly knocked him out and out of the boat. His shotgun did go in the water and him and his hunting buddy had to fish it out. He decided he had hunted enough for the day. He laughed about it later, but was a little shook up at the time.

I've never been knocked out by a falling goose, but I have been run over by a dead elk. That was the day that I learned that one should never pull on a dead elk from the downslope position when the terrain is steep, as it tends to be in the Cascades. I'll not go into the details, but it was a painful and humiliating experience and of course my buddies were there to see it happen. Welcome to the I'll Never Live It Down Club, Cade.

This brings back some memory The first time my brother let me shoot his bb gun We were under a large maple tree and I shot straight up not looking where I was shooting I pulled the trigger and was hit over the head by a falling pigeon I wasn't a bit happy my brother on the other hand was laughing hysterically.

What’s wrong with the backroads ? Live for the trip gents. It’s what it’s all about. Up here in northern Canada , backroads are four wheeler trails and goat paths so I’d say you’re a bit lucky

One time I was in a layout blind in Canada and I shot a goose that landed at my feet not sure exactly how far up he was above me, maybe 40ft? The thud was intense when it hit, but I didn’t have to retrieve it. Morale of the story maybe wait until they clear the blind I guess. On a different goose hunt I shot a goose, and it fell into some soybean stubble and one of the stalks impaled it’s heart. I guess it was going to die that day and it was double banded with a $100 reward band which I collected. Kah Boom, Cha Ching You can’t make this stuff up.

This is actually very serious and hunters need to be more aware of it. There was a Hunter locally here about 2 years ago that was killed by a falling goose he shot.
