Motherfucker, you know that it takes vegetation to produce the % of oxygen in the air that multi-cellular organisms need to survive right? How about California stop creating fires? I am not convinced the sun is doing it.
This is forest management 101" Bring back selective logging and crews like you and my buddies up here near Yosemite to clear the brush and save the forest & millions of dollars...!
Killer machine. I'm also impressed at how quiet the cab is. When you run or work for a land clearing company, that cab is your office. There's good reason modern equipment has all the creature comforts. More comfort = more time in the operator's seat before fatigue sets in.
That's a beast of a machine! So quiet in the cab and so productive. I'd pay you to come to work and drive that thing. Better than any ride at your local show. Cheers from Australia!!!
Cool video!! Land Management is so fun. The machines ,wether using skid steer or a dedicated machine, rock. Makes us men feel like boys again . I have added that service to my business and it just gets growing. . Keep up the good vids.. trucks, trailers, and machines good videos on all subjects.
Well a skid steer doing this work gets $6500 for a days work. I cant imagine what they are getting using this machine. Work a few months out of the year and you could be set
Awesome machine, I happened to notice that there was a four legged member of the team onboard as well! Had a crane course the other day together with a few other truckers and it turned out that we all had dogs….
That is very impressive. I'm especially impressed by how quiet the cab is. Very quiet. Right now I would love to be able to afford a good skid steer and a good head on it. Have a great weekend and be safe.
I know the feeling I was in a similar position with my land but I ended up spending my saved money on a good used bulldozer. I am using it to clear and reshape the land as well. Got a great used 45,000 lbs machine for less than a skid steer and a mulching head. Might want to check into that.
I know a guy in central ca that runs one of those prime tech 300s. He runs a tracked chipper paired with it in areas where he’s going to take down a bunch of trees. The masticator or mulched will take down the tree and the tracked chipper with grapple arm then chips it. Saves a bunch of time versus the mulched trying to chip up the tree.
Saw one of these parked along I-29 between Omaha, NE and Kansas City, Mo and you could just see the path of work. Crazy machine! And LOL love the doggo in the cab. Assuming he's there to supervise making sure the bigger trees are saved to pee on LOL
The best part of the entire thing was you have likely the biggest baddest ass mulcher out there and the sweetest dog breed in the front seat. I have mine sitting on my lap 🐶🤣.
Manzanita, primary fuel for a fast travelling fire. The manzanita burns high and hard and ladders it right up into the pine canopy. Once that happens in windy conditions, there is no fighting it. A friend of mine in malobu Canyon had a house with a swiming pool acting as a surge tank for a high volume sprinkler system. He still lost the house because the wind borne manzanita embers went right over the "wet zone" and his own landscaping burned back into the house. People out in the subrban areas that live along the brush areas need to learn more than stop, drop and roll..... A weekend spent learning fire safe practices on the cal fire website can save a lot of misery.
Or buy a dozer.. I am kidding of course even though I did but I live in south alabama big fires aren't common because it's so wet. What a job it must be to fight fires out there!
One of these just cleared a big piece of land near the high way where I live. At least a 500 foot by 500 foot piece of land. The machine then sat by the road for about a month. I'm guessing until they needed it at their next job. Plus I'm sure it was good advertising. I had never seen anything like it.
He did an impeccable job I love how he explained and he gave in-depth information priceless priceless video I want one of those things I bet you I would make good money
Man that thing is sick!!! I’m trying to get more into this work I live up in not cal foot hills and just got a brand new cat 299 D3 xe and man the toughest part is figuring out how to get the work
That machine is amazing. I did wildland fire 20yrs or so ago. Did a fire in SoCal, cut manzanita 15ft tall with a 20 man crew. That stuff kills saw chains, super hard, so it was more amazing to watch this machine rip thru it. I am looking into starting a business doing this. Can you please tell us what you charged for this job. It would help figure things. Per acre or something. Thanks and keep up the good work.
I'm doing this now on my 8.5 acres. Contractors running the mulcher on an ASV, I'm grabbing the keepable stuff and stacking it up with the grapple on my Takeuchi TL130. DNR picking up half the bill. Good times?
Wow, color me impressed! I live in a similar climate (Mount Shasta) and it seems like a large chunk of my life is spent dealing with manzanita, and I know how tough that crap is, that beast mows it down like grass! How often do you get poison oak working out in that stuff?
Its one way of dealing with brush fire fuel, mulches it then tills it into the ground, Its that or the land owners have to do spot controlled burns to get shot of the brush, looks as though it has a decent winch on the back if you need work a really steep slope.
Like you said, that 300 series Mulcher sure is an awesome machine. It can do so much, & in such a very short time span. I would certainly like to have one of those myself. I could get somuch done in such a very short time period, & get on to other jobs.
I was told if i buy a mulcher it needs to at least 300hp for the slopes and species of brush we have here in WV ..... i looked at skid steer mulchers and even demoed one (I believe it was a Fecon head with Deere stickers) i wasnt impressed ..... we run disc cutters or bushogs on skid steers and do pretty good ..... then grub an burn with hoes what ever is left ..... love your videos and mulchers ..... i always thought all of CA was goobers im sure like they think all of WV is hillbillies LOL
So the “cruise control “ is similar to how a cat dozer has variable travel speed control on the drive stick. If I understood you correctly, am I right in my assumption?
Its amazing how much brush is in there and what it takes to get it knocked down. I can remember doing that stuff as a teen with hand tools man that was hard work. These new machines are just awesome. I really hope the costs continue to come down on the equipment so it becomes far easier and more affordable for land owners to do this!! Nice work👍
Hello from Chicago! How much would it cost to bring that big machine out and do this same type of space without government help, just the land owner footing the bill?
You'd pick up the speed by over 60%, that's a great idea. Yep if you could just loop around like with a bush-hog and never have to stop and back up, it would certainly be something the forestry service should look into.
