2023 hanging was god tier. I dunno how they'll top it honestly. Its just odd that this 2019 show is what got them cancelled lmao, i don't see it at all lol.
To those who say that this show is stupid your right but it doesn't matter. The Hanging is basically the theme park version of Saturday Night Live. But with more adult humor.
For anyone who didn’t go to the see the show in person, right after the show ends We’ll Meet Again by Vera Lynn starts playing and “RIP the Hanging 1975-2019” pops up on screen
@@RyanShyffer they said it was when we went Thursday night. Which is why they killed the gunman (not sure if that's his character name) instead of the celebrity/ pop culture icon.
@@xxstriker824xx8I dunno. As some comments said, it's not confirmed. But yeah, if it is true, I can see that as the reason, as nowadays, theme parks are starting to play it safe to avoid offending certain people (and certain companies who are overprotective of their IPs).
This being the last hanging, they really went out on a high note. It begins with how the hangings used to be during the 70s, very straightforward, then it turns into the 90's with it's references. What really made it work is that the writers really understand what made the hanging from the early 2000's work, by having the references actually connect with one another making the satire smarter and more clever (unlike the previous year, in which the references came out of random). They really put their effort into this one and the surprise outcome of the hanging victim makes sense because it does signify the end of an era as we speak. Well done writers.
The WrestleMania main event would've been perfect for the Hanging! And since Cedar Fair is decently profitable, I think it would've been great if they got Becky, Charlotte and Ronda to voice their parodied selves. Also, if they hung a celebrity this year instead of the Lawman, R Kelly would've been the perfect target.
The ending is part of the story of this year with combines The Hanging, the scare zone and the maze. But they have killed The Lawman before I think. In years where Freddy Krueger appeared on the show he killed everyone including the lawman. If theres a year that The Hanging will end I think it should be with an official announcement like Universal Orlando did with Bill and Ted with the Farewell Tour in 2017.
I believe so that means no more hanging and they’ll have to replace them like waht the cut ing the dropping something has to replace the hang Spence it isn’t going to came back in 2020 but they’ll have to think of something.
@@heyitsnibbs9650 TBH When he does remember his lines, his delivery is the best though, sure Shannon was great, but skinny lip sync Hangman, and old man Hangman just don't do it like he does it.
Phew, finally! Let's see what's gonna happen this year. Update: Now that was a Hanging! It was great to see the show return to its supernatural roots, and we can thank the Origins maze for that. I loved how they tied the maze's lore to this show, and for once the pop culture references made sense! The storyline was fantastic, and the jokes were probably the best they've been in a long time. And I loved the devil character, he was so sarcastic and funny! The show did falter at parts, especially when the ice cream skit didn't start when it was supposed to, and the devil character fluffed his lines at some points, but it was opening night, so those kinks will definitely be worked out in the future, and everyone did a great job at keeping the show going. Also, even though it was expected, I was still shocked when (SPOILERS) the Lawman got hanged. Could this be the last year of the Hanging? If so, it definitely went out with a bang!
I'm surprised they used SpongeBob and not an Aquaman reference when they talk about straws. I was also hoping they would make jokes about Mary Poppins Returns, Alita, or the Jurassic World ride. In the end, I thought this was a really good show for this year!
to be honest... this is too tame. I have seen MUCH more risky skits done for the hangings in the past years and not only this one but last years too. Both were... VERY tame and quite tiresome. The "Jokes" were a little to forced and i lost count of how many times lines were forgotten and sound effects were just off by a bit. Long story short... this one was very sloppy. Sorry Knotts... i wont be going to this show, only the mazes. Perhaps next year will show improvement.
Guess we're going to need a new sheriff. Loved the Captain Marvel vs Captain Marvel battle. Also, it's a bit too soon for that Spider-Man. It still hurts so bad.
Maybe they could change it to a really old Rambo getting his ass kicked by the Dowager Countess from Downton Abbey given how the latter movie has done very well while Rambo is bombing?
Does anybody happen to know the exact script of the opening to the Electrical Parade parody (the electronic voice part)? just couldn't make out the words, either here or in person.
Wtf have they done to this once great show??! I went last year and walked away from it. It made no sense. I love Haunt, but that show sucks and literally makes no sense. The Hanging used to be the best show of the night. Thanks for posting though. Now I know not to waste my time on it when I go to Knott's Scary Farm next month. Lol
I agree. I've been watching "The Hanging" since 2007 and found it fresh and entertaining up until 2012. Since then, beginning in 2013, the show has become lackluster (like "The Simpsons" after its first decade). It seems to be getting worse than the previous with each passing year. I didn't get the ending either, unless it is THE END - the demise of "The Hanging". It's not like it's gonna get any better next year if it happens to continue. Unfortunately, I have a feeling it will.
It's sad. It used to be so good and halrious. The past few years it's just taken a nose dive. The writing is really lack-luster and uninspired. Feels like the whole show was written in only a couple hours.
Are they going to discontinue the "Hanging?" Why did that image pop up at the end that said, "RIP the Hanging 1975-2019? Especially after that serious closing speech by the Devil character. Have there been censorship problems or anything like that because this year, while obviously somewhat of a return to the old form following last year's disasterously bad travesty, was noticeably lacking in political bite or references and stayed more along the lines of entertainment figures; the sharp political spoofs and satire were sorely missing. While not as bad as last year's catastrophe, it still seemed palpably neutered and a mere shadow of its former uninhibited, satirically bold, fearlessly lewd, and politically skewering glory years.
I'm not sure. Yeah, shows like this have caused controversy and nowadays, people can't take a joke anymore because there is always going to be someone who will find offense in even the least offensive joke. However, it's yet to be confirmed whether or not they are cancelling it or they are going back to the old format.
Watched this live. It’s feels like a really long episode of Smosh. They force feed you a bunch of pop culture references just to get a couple laughs out of the boomers/normies. Please don’t waste your time watching it like I did. If I wanted to waste an hour of my life I could’ve just lost a game of CS:GO.
lol, Knott's doesn't cut entertainment throughout the park, doesn't focus on shoving IP into their park (only Exception being camp snoopy), and doesn't raise their ticket prices every year, so yeah, Disney isn't winning whatsoever right now
@@abagar2000 The ending was making fun of outrage culture and society's new inability to take a joke. I personally loved it. Extremely "red pill" of Knott's. So in actuality they were the opposite of SJW.
Let me start off by saying I love this show, it really is a wake up call to those who can't take a joke. It's satire in it's most modern form, and tbh what the fiend says at the end is 100% true, we need to stop enabling outrage culture that takes offence at everything in existence, and learn to accept everyone for who they are.
holy hell they say imitation is the highest form of flattery well Color Me flattered would love to know who writes your material and maybe serve them with a subpoena
As a gay guy, let me start off by saying I love this show, it really is a wake up call to thise who can't take a joke. Can’t watch it! They can’t do a show with out making fun of Disney! Knotts Berry farm has always been the red headed step child to Disney. This is the worst thing ever! They used to be good , but this has to be the worst! They have lost there originality
Amanda Herman One of the highlights for many Disney fans is actually seeing how Disneyland’s neighbor, Knott’s Berry Farm, pokes fun at Disney and Disneyland each year in this show. It’s all for fun and humor. “The Hanging” show is known for poking fun at Disney, as part of its annual parody of the past year’s news and pop-culture, for more than a decade.
