The key to all of this: a knowledgeable loctitian thats willing to discuss and do what’s best for your hair. I think this is missing for most loctitiams, sad to say. Let us know if you’re willing to tag her ❤

Been watching 👀 for year now with Tunisa. Found her thru searching sister/ micro locs . Not many are aware just yet. But at 6months in I'm loving this as option. 🎉❤

❤❤❤I had braid microlocs with human hair extensions installed in Dec 2022. From the beginning my crown area was lower density from the rest of my head and I was researching methods to maintain by interlocking with the least amount of tension, which seemed to be key. Came across the wonderful Tunisia Ali and researched knotted locs but all the images and videos I saw seemed to create a result with locs that hung in a bending, uneven way over time. I even asked Ms. Blakes in a comment about it and as best as I could interpret her reply , it just depends on your texture. No go for me. Last month (March 2024) my certified sisterlocks loctician and I arranged a plan where we alternate every 6 weeks between retieing the top half of my head and the bottom half. This gives each half a 12 week break between reties! Each visit takes no more time than my full head did, so I don’t have to pay more. She has always done a 2 pt rotation for max fullness and skips the last 2 rotations at my request. So far I am loving this and have high hopes for protecting my follicles over time. 🙏🏽I’m so blessed to have a location who wants to partner with me to keep my scalp and locs healthy in the long term. She is awesome ❤❤❤ Be blessed on your journey ladies!

So I’ve had 2 sets of locks. My edges were thin because I had a thing for braids. So far my hair is holding up and that’s because I do have high density and some areas of normal density. I’ve never obeyed the strict guidelines to reties😂😂😂. My hair takes 2 years or more to lock because I use water and a small amount of oil. I intend to keep doing things my own way. I like my loctician because she is gentle and doesn’t complain about how I manage my hair.

Here are my 2 cents about retwisting. If you are going to wash your hair frequently, retwisting will not hold up. There is a high chance that your roots will start to marry which would be quite challenging with tiny locs. (I'm speaking from personal experience as someone with micorlocs and used retwisting only for the first 4 months of my loc journey. For reference I was washing my hair twice a week.) If you choose to retwist I would suggest doing it each time you wash your hair to prevent your roots from marrying. But that only works if you are going to wash your hair once a month.

So happy to continue to follow your journey. Knotted loc sessions aren’t cumbersome like that because I feel you. My arms aren’t up to retwisting and retightening either lol!

I have never heard of the reverse 3 rotation. I will ask my loctition about that for my crown area as well as leave out the last rotation or two. Great idea. Seems so simple at saving the crown area. I appreciate your video as I respect you and your content. And your locks are gorgeous!

Thank you so much for this video. I have been waiting to see if you did the knotted loc method, as I was considering it also. I have sisterlocks and have combined some in my crown area as I felt the locs were too small. I like the method you are considering, my pattern has always been a 3 . I maintain my own locs and have stretched out my retighten to about 10 weeks. I do like the three month routine and will try it. Great video.

I am a new subscriber to your channel and was very interested in your journey to find out about knotted loc’s too! I also saw the channel where the lady used super glue and it was interesting but after I used the crochet needle to instant lock my new growth I had no need for the superglue. The knotted loc’s sounded interesting but I have a loose curl pattern and I do not want to interrupt the smoothness of my loc’s by having a knot and then a possible lump where my hair has not been crocheted or interlocked into place. I have 300 x 1/8” diameter x 30” instant / crocheted micro loc’s that I self maintain. I will continue to self maintenance until I can find a Loctician in my area that I feel comfortable with taking over my maintenance.Thank you for sharing the information that you found on your loc journey🎉

How often you rety really depends on your hair texture. Some people can go a really long time without retightening their roots and other people can only go two months. I’ve actually let my hair go almost 5 months - not on purpose- and when I finally retightened it was fine. So it really depends. Plus thinning can happen for a lot of reasons and I don’t think it’s intrinsic to having sisterlocks necessarily. Edit: some people just have fine hair so their locks will be smaller when the hair eventually locs up and becomes more compact.

This was a great video! You actually confirmed some things I learned just by paying attention to my hair. The first one is, I started with micro Locs (DIY) and I only use the two point rotation because I have fine hair (low density). The second point you confirm for me is I just recently started waiting much longer before I do my retires and noticed that it has made a big difference in my hair and scalp. Thank you for sharing and good luck on your journey! ❤

Hi, and thanks for the vid. I like the idea of knotted locs, however I see a similarity among the women who wear them. So far in studying the technique, I've noticed that most of the wearers seem to have locs that are not of a consistent length. They almost always seem to have many different lengths throughout the head. It makes me wonder if that particular technique poses a risk of voids forming in between the knots that can lead to random break offs. They don't seem to have that full and healthy look, but moreso a freeform, kind of shaggy look over the long-term. Has anyone else noticed this? BTW, ur locs look healthy and amazing, especially at the edges! I'm currently growing my second set of microlocs.

Thank you for the update! I have just started following you due to the same concerns. I’m 7 years in and my follicles have gotten so small and the thickness is gone! I’m so concerned and I don’t want to cut them😢. My loctician doubles the price after 6 weeks as I would love to go 2 months but I can’t see paying that much for a retie (almost 300) I’ve also been told if I go to long w/o a retie the thinning Loc’s can pop/break. In addition it’s difficult to find a loctician that takes transfers. I just don’t know🤷🏽‍♀️
@goddessvlogmedia
@goddessvlogmedia 3 месяца назад
I feel like the ones that can't withstand the wait need to be addressed anyway. I'm going to use my 3 months to allow my weak locks to show themselves. Combining them may be the fix. If we pay attention to those, eventually, we'll get them all! 💯

Why not do knotted locs in the areas you are experiencing thinning and hair loss (edges, crown) and do the new interlock pattern on the other areas to stop progression. I fail to see how keeping with interlocking is going to stop follicle strain
