Yes, I have been trying to find some knotty pine cabinets to add to what we have. It is hard, people just tear them out and trash them and paint the paneling :(

It is a tongue and groove tree 🎄 knots in the boards that's how you identify how old it is it was made in the 1900s all the way back to the 1800s and they stopped making it in the 1940s

It is called lob Lolly pine that is the kind of tree that is loblolly pine

I like real wood, it's just the orange colour is what throws me off. Some dark staining wood look amazing

I have my kitchen built out of knotty pine on the walls and cabinets. I also have a 1950s thermadore built in cooktop which was one of the first on the market. In the main room I have knotty pine and open beamed ceilings. There are knotty pine that goes up in single boards 16' above the floor. When I hung the mirror over the fireplace. The supporting piece is 10' off the floor. The living room is like a barn. Yeah, almost or is 1" thick wood. I think it's shellac, too. I redid the fireplace mantel which was part of a leftover beam and the flat pieces around the stairs which look like 1"x6". I went with a high gloss finish which was difficult to do but looks fantastic. The only thing I didn't realize was that they way the stairs go down and those flat surfaces which formed a railing out of the knotty pine around the stairs, is that people used to smoke There was like 12 to 14 scorch marks where people had stood there, put a cigarette and let it burn the wood. I took most of those out when I sanded it to bare wood. But, with a high gloss, that dip in the wood is a little bit noticeable.

Welp, I disagree. Not about the knotty pine, per se, but the ORANGE hue which I have come to loather.. Love the knots, actually. So I am looking at ways to whitewash or pickle it so as to let the knots peek though minus that godforsaken ORANGE. Egads!

I have knotty pine in my whole basement (house built in 1952) and tut makes everything look so dark. I was contemplating painting it white but someone said ppl will buy the panels... idk how to even go about selling it... I guess maybe OfferUp...
