You need the Siesta because the dinner is 10 pm, but the party ends at 11 or 12 am. In a good party don't sleep until the following day. Greetings from Madrid
No flamenco pleaaase its only Andalucia. Even u can heard bagpipes and celtic music in the northern country. In Madrid the best shopping area is Salamanca District a little bit expensive but u have the best spaniard design. Good video anyway u look like very nice and cheerfull. Love it.
That tip is HUGE. Always 2-3€ tip MAX. NEVER give more than 4€ of tips. Lunches are never 3 hours long it is usually 2 hours, UNLESS you go outside as a family.
8:20 Oo, an American said "hire a car" rather than "rent a car". You must have some British friends or influence in Spain and are also learning our lingo without realising it! ;o)
I love Spain. Spain has the most soul in Europe. I went to Portugal and I didn't feel the same. However be warned the people often have a zero fucks given attitude and they don't hide it even if they are serving you. The attitude is aye give us your cash asshole and return soon! Exactly what I would feel as well.
Behave like a spoiled tourist - especially during high season - and you will be treated as such. Try to blend in and speak a couple of words of Spanish and you will be treated very friendly by most people.
There is a reason there are Not many people from the USA in Spain. My Husband & I both speak English & Spanish Fluently, we left the US thinking Spain was going to be the Spanish USA. Wrong! The people can be friendly but believe they are the Masters of Everything. They are behind in most technology, and just try to tell them they are behind. We were told by one person that we were From the Future. They are slow to deliver anything everything is Manna ( the definition of Manna is Not today or tomorrow) They Never have a complete answer to any question and you Always walk away shaking your head wondering what just happened. The legal paperwork for anything is tedious & frustrating and you have to go to many different offices before you resolve IF you resolve. We were in Spain when we decided we want to become residents we inquired what had to be done we were told we had to go to the Embassy were told the Embassy was in Madrid. Just to make sure we ask an attorney 3 of them confirmed and one told us we had to return to USA go to the Spanish Embassy where they would send the documentation to Madrid for approval the 3rd lawyer was the correct answer. Hello,! we were in Spain why could we not just have done it in Spain NOOO we had to return to USA where they sent the paperwork to Madrid and back and forth for 3 days & tons of documents that had to be translated and notarized & authenticated for them to read. Everything is tomorrow, they believe Their Word is more valuable than money. Forget about trying to take the driver test you have to enroll in their school and if you are US Spanish you will NEVER figure out their logic in the test questions, If you want to take the written test in English Good luck figuring out the UK English ( ex a low beam headlight is called a dipped light) Read the forums American Expats and here about how people have had to return to USA because they could not get a driver Lic from Spain. Then there is the driving test The person telling you where to go will speak in Spanish & you better know what they are asking of you ask too many question then you fail. Most people give up after 3 tries. Truly I thought I hit the Wall in USA with Stupidity but I can tell you the US dictionary should have a picture ID of a Spaniard when you look up the definition of Stupid. We lasted 8 months and are returning to the USA in 2 days. We drove around many parts of Spain & I never saw a Cow The beef you buy in the market has no Blood and is pale I called it mystery meat. There is NOTHING like USA no matter how bad things may seem there. The Grass is NOT Greener on the other side. Visit Spain but don't be fooled. Even the UK English complain about Spain but they like the weather. Thank you for allowing me to vent :)
Spain is the second most visited country in the world, 82 million tourists visit it every year. Monuments, art everywhere. Spain is home to the largest British population in the European Union, you can search the figures online. Our cuisine is one of the best in the world, so we have the best quality products, meat, fish, call us the orchard of Europe. The Mediterranean diet is recognized in the world as the healthiest, which is making this year together with Japan the first on the list in terms of longevity. In terms of health (I will avoid comparisons in this case with the US) we are one of the best systems in the world. In terms of technology we are on par with our neighbors. As for the architecture, we are one of the richest countries for its variety, Gothic cathedrals, medieval castles are scattered throughout each province of our land. We are one of the most mountainous countries in Europe, (our grass is not green?) We have ski slopes throughout the country and one of them with the record of proximity to the coast. Our islands are recognized throughout the world for their beauty and cultural wealth. On the other hand I have to tell you that you can have bad experiences in all countries, I am very sorry for yours. My experiences in the US were not good either. Of course we are very different, maybe that's why we come from another continent.
