Knowledge Graph for Digital Transformation in the Supply-Chain: A business perspective on Knowledge Graphs

During the past three years, Eccenca has been working with the APICS Supply-Chain Council and a wider group of its members including companies such as Nokia, Ericsson, Infineon, GE, Boeing, and JD.com. The aim of this work was to identify the potential role of Knowledge Graphs and Ontologies as an enabler for digital transformation and streamlined digital collaboration.
This presentation outlines the business needs of the supply-chain industry that were discovered. It will explain how Knowledge Graphs and standardized industry vocabularies (ontologies) can be successfully deployed in industry. It will also demonstrate a 12-month implementation/maturity journey with a focus on business needs and outcomes as well as on outcomes in terms of increased digital maturity.

Today, they power tasks like natural language understanding, search and recommendation, and logical reasoning. Tomorrow they will ubiquitously be used to store and retrieve facts learned by intelligent agents.
In the enterprise, knowledge graphs are the ultimate dataset. Integrating and organizing together internal and external data sources. Knowledge graphs integrate with the larger information system: master data management, data governance, data quality. Their flexibility and powerful representation capabilities allow data scientists to tap them to build powerful models.
