The Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution is the voluntary organization in the Netherlands tasked with saving lives at sea. For that purpose, it maintains 45 lifeboat stations along the Dutch coast of the North Sea and Wadden Sea and on the IJsselmeer. It maintains 78 boats ranging from small boat to 21 meter long RHIBs.

The Adriaan Hendrik was paid for from the estate of Mrs. C.H. Kleiweg de Zwaan-Bijning. Adriaan Hendrik are the first names of her previously deceased husband. The lifeboat was baptized on October 3, 1992 by the wife of the then chairman of the KNRM, Hr. Dudok van Heel.
Lifeboat Adriaan Hendrik is stationed at Egmond aan Zee rescue station.
