I've tried every knurling tutorial on RU-vid. Can you please explain why this is not working for me? I'm trying to make a knurled SMA thumb screw for all of my antenna for my FPV radio, & FPV drones. the issue I'm having is after making the sketch with the knurled feature, when i click subtractive or additive helix, I get an error that "wire is not closed" or that "the linked shape box is empty". The only difference between my part is that it has the 7.9mm(flat-to-flat) hex hole in the center. I know that I can get this design off of thingiverse or equivalent but I want to know how to do this so I can add knurled features to other parts in the future. Thanks in advance,
That sounds like the error that would occur on the sketch level. Likely, there is a piece of the sketch that is set to construction geometry, or there is an extra sketch element somewhere. Feel free to email me the part and the name of the feature/sketch your having trouble with if you'd like a second set of eyes.
Thank you for the inspirations, you build the bridge to freeCad for "art features" which could be made easy in blender, but there with limited parametric CAD features.
Wonderful Videos! I love your tempo and detail - very effective teaching! How did you get a "Dark Mode" in your FreeCAD UI? Did you edit each workbench's colour settings individually? It's very difficult to visually follow your steps because my interface looks so very different from yours.
FreeCAD is like Blender. Amazingly powerful and about as friendly as a rabid dog. I wonder if they will ever be able to do what the Blender foundation (finally) got around to and improve that hideous interface?
In a 40 hour work week you spend one hour making the part and 39 hours fighting the program and finding workarounds. Ridiculous. I just paid the money for Shapr3D, screw this.
I could have never imagined that I would be so fast in dividing 2.54 in so many ways. Courtesy of welding videos and CAD... To bad, they don't use "elbows" anymore :)
