Ivy is one of our resident koalas in our Koala Care Centre, her friend is Charlotte. Both have hip dysplasia and wouldn't survive in the wild so they live here permanently with Friends of the Koala.
If you ever come to NSW try to book a koala tour with us and you will get to see our adorable koalas. We would love to show you around!
Ivy is either eating leaf or sleeping - there is not much in between.
Fun fact - koalas are fussy eaters, although you wouldn't know it looking at Ivy, it is thought that they use their big nose to sniff out the best leaves.
Koalas are expert sleepers, snoozing for up to 18 to 22 hours a day!
This extensive rest allows them to conserve energy and digest the fibrous eucalyptus leaves that make up their diet.
Koalas need to save their energy for moving between trees, digesting the food they eat, looking for mates in the breeding season, and escaping from predators.
We hope you like our video, please subscribe, comment, share and all the things that will help others learn more about saving our beautiful koalas - they need our help!
