This is one of the best videos EVER! OMG - I already had the intent to get ukes from this company, but during this video, I fell in love with these people. They are amazing. I want to visit them, too! I already have had my eye on their ukes, and now I know I want to support their enterprise and purchase from them over other brand I've felt were also in this class. These are astounding, caring people. To have all that wonderful energy going into their uke construction and then brought to me will be amazing.
As a Santa for some twenty odd years now I really loved that Pops finished with jingle bell rock on the smallest ukulele that I've ever seen. I have a Koaloha long neck concert which I love and bought about eight weeks ago from SUShere in the UK. Had actually gone down south to their store for a pre-owned Kanilea concert but it had sold when I got there. Alex showed me several nice alternatives but the first he showed me was the Koaloha concert nothing else measured up after that. Beautiful instrument. I'm far from a good player but before I was unable to hold the tools and workpiece steady I made miniature pieces of furniture for collectors and dolls house enthusiasts so also I appreciate the excellent work that goes into producing these instrument. That tiny uke was just exquisite. Let me say finally that I think Ukulele is the only thing keeping me sane in these difficult times of the pandemic. Mahalo.
That Black label custom Leiomano!! Not only is my ‘Aumakua portrayed beautifully but the Koa(warrior) spirit as well! Attention to details like the serrated edges of each tooth are off the charts! The dark ebony gives it that hard edge, manly feel to it too. If only I had the funds... I’ve just witnessed my dream uke! Mahalo for the tour.
I live on big island, I play every every day, my son and I are a living room ukulele band, one day I’ll get one from these guys, it’s our dream....they play like butter.....
I love my Koaloha. I got it in 1999 or 2000. Things were thin and I had a hard time parting with the money even though it was less than half the price of a Kamaka. Considering it has been my buddy for 20 something years and I have never played another ukulele to match the sound and the feel of my Koaloha, I never regretted buying it.
I've ordered a KTM-00. Just starting out but wanted to buy just one Uke. Caring, professional people and awesome to see the people behind the scenes. Blessings from New Zealand.
This is why I LOATHE people who ruin any instument "for fun". They disrespect everyone and everything that takes part in the long journey that makes them into what they are. Gorgeous video showing passionate professionals. Thank you. 八
Come on - like all of us you have had to shift away from koa because of it's growing unavailability or more accurately the 'tree grab' a certain mainland guitar company is involved in. Quite frankly I am conflicted - I love the sound of both koa and spruce. I see the need for us all to move away from the nostalgia that 'koa is king'. It is, but it is a shrinking kingdom. USA has great native woods. UK has limited but equally nice stuff.Let's use what grows on our doorstep!
