The position of central midfielder is one the position that not just require technicality but also the ability to be calm under pressure, only ppl with deep knowledge of football will understand this guy is so special
Yep, they worked well together, they seem to be good friends too .... Foden was much more like himself last night, especially first half, very unlucky not to score at least once.
@@barryh.4220 Both from Stockport as well, maybe that's why they are close, common experiences? Either way, England having such talented players in their positions is nuts.
@@MashiatCOD99 🤣 he had a 97% pass completion rate across the entire tournament before Netherlands game, now still at over 94%. Second in the entire tournament. Did you write your stat with a crayon?
sorry Paul Scholes was a way better player than this. I am not saying he can't be as good but there are so much that needs to happen in his game to get there.
He has a different skill set but also has as much potential as Scholes did. E.g Scholes couldn't dribble and beat the press like Mainoo but Mainoo hasn't shown Scholes shooting ability and passing range neither@@TheFergo911
He’s the modern ideal midfielder for this time of football, Paul scholes a legend but I want new stars to shine, let’s live in the present and what home grown talent 💯
Rarely we see an England midfielder who can hold the ball confidently and skilfully glide his way out of trouble gracefully. This is a new generation of England footballers who can win the England team. tournament. Mannoo, Foden, Col Palmer ...core of England team.
I have never seen a video, with only positive comments, Kobbie is breaking records everywhere! They are so humble with Saka and Palmer, big respect for them. Need to mention Foden in this game who had his best Euros game.
That was a problem area for England, Mainoo came in like he’s got an extra ten years of maturity on his shoulders!! He looks established. Mad for a 19 year old!! World Class talent right there!!
Everyone said he was too inexperienced. Hes an absolute boss. Miles ahead of trent in that position. A natural midfielder. Always looking up and trying to pass in behind the defence.
I don’t recall anyone significant saying that. The mantra in football is if you are good enough, you are old enough. There’s only one way to get experience
I agree he looks the part, at international level, composed on the ball does the easy things well, retains possession by giving it easy, mainly square, when passing forward he gave away the ball several times, can't see why he would play in front of Palmer, but he is very good for his age.
It's amazing how the English see the game. It's also amazing how this player manages to show so much brilliance with Southgate as a manager. take Kane out play Belinham and Foden as floating centre forwards with Antony Gordon on the left and leave Mainoo to run the game. Like this, they can win against Spain.
everyone forget that erik ten hag is the one who unlocked mainoo potential & will continue doing so. one of examples of erik ten hag work is mainoo off the ball movement is similar practiced when eth time at ajax & now man utd. ❤
You lot take the ten Hag fanboyism too far. At every stage of his career Mainoo has excelled without interruption, his potential never needed unlocking. You will soon begin to praise ten Hag for the grass being green FFS.
@@les_crow if you have potential it needs unlocking no matter who you are, Ronaldo may not have become Ronaldo had he not have the right people around him to motivate as he has said multiple times, regardless if you unlock it yourself or help from others, All potential needs to be unlocked. Ravel Morrison, bags of potential but never "unlocked" it. So yes ETH has had a say in his development whether its small or not eric has helped unlock his potential.
@@les_crow Like seriously. Wants to attribute the boy's skill and high IQ to ten hag. Those of us who have been watching him for longer know the boy is only just cooking. Let him start playing higher up the pitch
His link up play with Foden was immense. Another thing to remember he ‘s already had the better of Rodri once this season in the FA Cup final where he got M.O.M. he can do it again in the Euro final
Rodri has been superb in this tournament so far, but this Spain side are about more than him ..... they will keep England's defence and midfield fully occupied for 90 minutes, you can count on it!
We're so lucky to have him. What a talent he is. I hope he doesn't lose his fearlessness as he ages like a lot of England players tend to in international tournaments.
One thing I noticed was at one point he took a rare bad touch and he still won the ball back and I thought that’s world class potential. Any other player would’ve had a bad touch, lost the ball and suddenly they’re breaking on you but not our kobbie
Eth tryed to bring him in on pre season but he got injured. Im more then happy for eth to stay because i know football. If you have 1 cb no lbs, no team is getting top 4 we need 1 cb 1 cm 1 st. There is some good young talent
United first £100+ MILLION player INEOS wants. Mainoo gave me hope in United last season alongside Garnacho. Also seeing Amad, Hojlund and the kind of signing we are interested in., imagine having bid accepted to Lenny Yoro. Massive!!! Even though he might end up at Real Madrid, I just love the way INEOS are moving and making statements
He played in a position that is probably the most demanding and difficult to accomplish with competence. It is a role that can seriously impact the performance of a team if exposed successfully by the opposition, but also have a significant effect on the game if they have the ability to stamp their authority on proceedings. The fact that he has often achieved this at international level, during a tournament at his age speaks volumes in regard to his mental agility, maturity, and natural physical prowess. An England regular for many years to come.
@@joachimfigga5995 so how come did he win more duels and more interception also more tackle than Rice, you're either Crystal Palace or an Arsenal fan lmfao
@@Woze899 stop it. Haters can't say anything on THIS video because he's shutting them up with this performance. Go to ESPN tomorrow and see them come out in force.
I know the video is about Kobbie but can't help looking at kanes positioning and lack of movement for Kobbie to pass to him literally no runs in behind ,it's astonishing
Mainoo fan here but i think any from Rice, Mainoo and Foden could have been man of the match last night. These 3 were immense. Somehow Bellingham is looking average next to Mainoo. This kid is never flustered. A long way to go for him. Great footballing iq will serve him well in his career.
There isn't a player at his age like Mainoo in his position, he's capable of everything. Controlling the tempo, sprayin passes out, resisting the press, dribbliing and advancing the ball, tackling, interceptions . Start adding more Goals and Assists to his game and he's basically the perfect midfielder, Pirlo, Scholes, Kante hybrid. next to Rice and with Foden, Palmer, Saka etc along side we have an insane future as a nation.
As an arsenal fan I have to say Mainoo from the small amount of games ive seen him in has a high footballing IQ for this age and will no doubt be a baller as a 8 going forward . He has great ball carrying and passing ability and he can dictate the tempo of the game knows when to slow things down and retain the ball or go forward and creates scoring chances for his teammates. He has great vision and fairly precise distribution. On a defensive contributions level he is timely with interceptions and tackles. His adaptability to different positions is also on a ridiculous level and has bags of agility in tight half spaces as well as amazing composure for this age. I cant see him failing at united he seems to be getting better and better in every game I see him in and doesn't shy away in difficult games and big games . United just need a certified 6 really like Amadou Onana which I hope arsenal can get.
@@loadbalance-ng2mu I do think Rice is incredibly special. He's not playing his natural position and taking one for the team protecting the back four for England. Even then, it's amazing how much distance he covers and how many important challenges he makes
Fa cup winning goal against guardiolas city,no big deal Liverpool away,no big deal Semi final against Netherlands no big deal. That boy plays like a 25 year old number 8 with confidence.
Whys rice not passing to him? I feel so many times the ball could be played to him and he doesn't recive it. Hes so good at reciving the ball under pressure and moving with it
I think the chemistry and confidence is still not there, plus Rice just trauma from his mistake that lead to a early concead... I think Mainoo should ask for the ball more often but he doesnt look verbal type of person but still young tho
Liverpool showed last season that they have some brilliant kids of their own, as you would already know if your red misted glasses allowed you to see past the end of Matt Busby Way!
Standards have now fallen so low. A midfielder doing basic things is now regarded as a STAR. All that is needed to be play top flight football, just be a good athlete.
He played well enough last night .... but so did everybody else, and deluded as the world knows they are, united fans should be able to see that and not need telling!
Now England Place secured. I saw many of his team mates afraid of giving the ball to him which may reduce his touch and impact volume. Specially Foden. They must improve this
Stop trying to big him up .... he played really well, but no better than anybody else , they all worked their socks off ...... in the first half England were excellent, but they allowed the Dutch to come right back into the game in the second half .... until that late Watkins goal gave them a right shock!.
Mainoo played way better than any England forward bar Foden & as been the outstanding England forward of the tournament….Did you notice the Dutch man-marked him in the 2nd half, which neutralised his chemistry with Foden but turned the game into another bore-fest??
