The trash talk to the suns bench and then that amazing three pointer to win the game is, to me, the most amazing thing Ive seen in fifty years of watching the nba. The 80s were the best

You have to check out the new Bird's 1987 season videos. It's four parts of nothing but plays. In part two or three, I'll have to go back and look, Larry straight up breaks Barclay's ankles one on one; it's incredible looking. I don't want to hear another person say he was slow in his prime (this is at the end of it), until they see this play. It's embarrassing and beautiful all at the same time! There's an X factor about him, I mean, how many 6'10" forwards do you have to watch 24 seconds of every play, on both ends of the court? It was his mind and perpetual motion.

One of my all time favorite trash talk stories is from Reggie Miller, where he was trying to trash talk Larry while Larry's at the free throw line. But Larry didn't care, he just didn't care, he was going to tell you that he was the best shooter in the league, and then back it up.

Those are fun to listen to, I love the MJ stories as well. So many players have so much respect for those two guys, that to be says a lot. When the best players in the world put another player up above themselves is almost unbelievable, except that I just listened to them do it.... Was it their work ethic that made them so much better? That an being smart? One of my favorite Bird stories was a response to someone saying to him that a recent Lebron team would beat the first Dream Team. I can't remember it exactly but Bird still hinted that his original Dream Team would win but it might be close because they're all 60 now. I butchered that I'm sure but it was something like that.

Someone asked Bird if the Dream Team could beat the Redeem team . Bird said.....well they probably could ....it's been about 20 years since I played! 😂

The best Bird story was the Rodman one. Rodman is all over him and he says Guys I'm open. Hurry up before they realize no one is guarding me Then he tells the coach Chuck you better get someone on me or I'm gonna go for 60. It's too easy when no one is on me
