Koblenz is an ancient city in central Germany, conveniently located for reaching the terraced vineyards and castle ruins of the Rhine Gorge. In the city center, at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine rivers, stands a monumental statue of Emperor Wilhelm I. A cable car leads to the top of the mountain to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, which houses museums and frequently hosts cultural events. On the riverbank in the southern part of the city is the neo-Gothic Stolzenfels Castle with its gardens.
