Loving this series. Blacktails are GORGEOUS little deer and those foxes are amazing! I went on several winter Caribou hunts in Quebec with my Dad & friends. One year on the way back down the Trans-Taiga Hwy or James Bay Hwy I pulled over to use the facilities. Once out of the truck, I immediately spotted some snowshoe hare tracks and noticed fox tracks. I saw an animal dart through an opening 40 yards or so out and, while in the process of doing my business, I decided to make a few squeaky mouse like sounds. I received an instantaneous reaction from a beautiful Silver Fox. It ran right up to me. As I quickly tucked away and backed down the road to get my Dad’s attention, the Fox followed me and I snapped several awesome photos with it nearly at a “heel” type position. It was an incredible interaction that I’ll never forget. I may have been the first human that little Fox had ever seen. It was dang sure that I had some sort of injured edible mouse-like delicacy on hand after my masterful calling sequence to lure him in.

I grew up in Kodiak for around 25 years but life's taken me elsewhere. I love seeing videos like this of the place I'll always call home. Congrats on the nice bucks and pretty foxes! Well well well. It's Sunday night and here we meet again! Just when I'm feeling sad cause the weekend is over and I have to go back to work in the morning here comes Brian and the crew to give me cheer. Always look forward to these evenings hanging out watching another amazing video. Really have enjoyed these Kodiak episodes and really itching to go make my own trip. What beautiful country. Another great film. This one seemed obsessed with texture. The texture of the Fox fur, the Black Tail hide, even the Tundra and the dense willow around the Black Tail’s bed. Now I am obsessed with the fur on that Silver Phase Fox! I would love to see how it was skinned in another video. Thanks and stay gritty!

Had to watch this one twice to really understand everything. And by that I mean the education of the diversity of hunting. Y’all don’t just bring out the same kind of hunt year after year expecting to stay current. Even though this was a past hunt it shows how much learning can be done in a hunt. Whether it be foxes, high mountain mule deer, open country elk, or waters edge black bear. You always bring something fresh for all of us to enjoy and live vicariously through y’all. It really captures that hunting is not about the kill necessarily but the adventure. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us all

Thank you for another excellent film. You've got me researching foxes and Kodiak. There's a moment in the film after Michael crosses the creek and starts walking through knee high brush and grass that reminds me of here in Montana. Immediately after, you show a slow pan of the sun coming up in the valley and you instantly know that is in fact not Montana. To me that's great cinematography. You made Alaska feel familiar and awe-inspiring all at once!

Another quality film. Very much enjoyed it. Someday I will call on Alaska. The antlers on these black tails are awesome not because of their size but the color and the texture. Love how dark and smooth they are. As a bonus to this week's film the foxes look like a lot of fun to hunt. Thanks and keep these films coming.

Spent a year (1967) living on Kodiak at the now defunct Air Force Satellite Tracking station at Chiniak Point. Shot many beautiful foxes and a bear (small one). Love the beauty and serenity of the island.

I loved the the Kodiak Island series. I’m originally from Alaska and didn’t start hunting until I moved to Arizona and now I’m chomping at the bit to hunt there but I’ve waited to share this experience with my son who is now getting into hunting. I can’t wait to become part of your local community. Your podcast and videos help a lot with my decision making when it comes to what gear to invest in. Thats the most beautiful Fox I've ever seen... that being... I've learned to love them and I can't kill them anymore..Maryland in places is the last hold out for the Red fox from the yote! No Bobcat here...but Willey bucks follow and use them. Red or grey here are safe by me.... away from here ,they are not safe! Beautiful Fox

Wasn't expecting a Gritty Drop this morning. Getting the boat ready for spring fishing so had to bring the lap top out and watch from the boat as I clean. Growing up trapping fox, the silver fox has always been on my bucket list of hides Id love to have in my collection. Great video once again. Happy Easter to the Gritty Fam.

Another fantastic film and series from the GRITTY Films crew. I truly enjoy the content but also the structure of each episode. I learn quite a bit about the subject matter at hand in each video. I am informed and entertained aka infotainment. Thanks Brent for all the behind the scenes work and research. Congratulations to all three of you for tagging out with nice black tail bucks. The foxes 🦊 stole the show. They’re like black bears 🐻 with their multiple color phases, just 1/10th to 1/20th the size. So beautiful 🤩 and soft. I would like one as a full body mount chasing a grouse or a squirrel 🐿 I know that Randy Newberg ate his wolf 🐺 but I doubt you all tried fox 🦊. Thanks for sharing this beautiful story and Ron’s paragraph and the song touched me in a sincere way. I would share on Instagram but I have yet to learn how to do that. Will have to look it up and do that too.

Dear Brian, I already left you a comment on this video. This one is personal! I wanted you to know because thru out your career in the hunting world I've been there from the beginning. You've really come along way as a hunter, your story telling and your filming. You never take the easy way. You always choose the "Gritty" way. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who notices that. If its not the extra weight of the camera lenses or the pack rafts or even the awesome Seek Outside hot tents you drag out there to make the adventure that more awesome. You always go a little extra mile. I love how you have your brother the Gritty Broman Brent on the show. It reminds me of the podcast episode 509 you had with you mentor ARNIE CHUPP. That was a real good look at who Brian Call really is. I say all this because I just lost my brother who was 45 and two years older than me. He was a mountaineer and loved the mountains. It was the place he loved and left this world in, he died in the mountains he loved so dear, to hypothermia just recently. When I watched your recent videos and heard that song you had in it, it made me cry and think of my brother. Its not just about the Gritt in life (because he defiantly had that) but its about who we touch and make a difference too, in this world. I know this is something you get. As do so many viewers of this show. Gritt is really about life and what we take out of it and how we personally view ourselves, and make a difference. Not just personally, but on even issues like making a difference with protecting our vast and beautiful nature and protected lands of this country. Thank you for making a difference. Thank you for standing up and vocalizing your feelings. Right or wrong, at least you want to make a difference. We all appreciate what you do and if nothing else matters, its who and what we are. Those fox are cool, as a taxidermist Ive been able to mount red fox but havent had the opportunity to do a silver or cross. Id be pretty excited if i got a call from a customer that had one for me to do a full body mount on. Great film as always!

I give Brent's beard five stars. I greatly enjoyed this series. It was much more enjoyable to watch compared to typical whitetail hunts out of tree stands or blinds which are seen on RU-vid and TV. Those hunts seem more typical to most Western Big Game Hunts where you can glass up your animal.

Cool foxes. I wish silvers were common down here. I put up 28 reds and one cross last year. Had a bumper crop in southern Idaho. Blacktails are cool too.

I'm FINALLY caught up... I have watched, as far as I can tell, all of the Gritty Videos. I am very great full for all of the knowledge I have gained and the humor that you have brought over these videos. I've watched in order from the first episodes till now and hope this continues well into the future. Superb film and content. I also like seeing the commentary in the end between Brian and the "Gritty Broman," I love the handle and learned a few new fox facts. My Grandfather was a Navy Seabee stationed at Kodiak in WWII building runways, and he always told me tales of the ruggedness, bear sightings, salmon fishing, and wildlife in general. This adventure brought back some memories of those stories, and I appreciate that. Looking forward to Spring bear hunts and future films. I truly anticipate the new drops and dream about these type of hunts.

Such incredible scenery. I love the educational sidelines. Another great deer! It’s cool to learn about the foxes. I occasionally see a black fox around my place. I guess it’s just a color phase red fox. I can’t wrap my mind around eating in the tent in bear country. You guys have some balls!

Enjoyed this weeks show, Anytime I’m deer hunting and a fox comes by it immediately turns into a predator hunt. It’s like a disease I can’t control it. Great video quality as always best hunting content out there bar none. Keep up the good work looking forward to the next show.

I’ve always wanted to go to kodiak for a bear hunt, this series makes me want to visit for a deer and some fox, they are beautiful and seem to be quite underrated. Keep up the great work and great films

I like how you added a good bit of footage about fox into this film and it wasn't exclusively about deer hunting. I have read about people getting bored of watching just deer hunting because they say not a whole lot really goes on. When I watch other shows on TV I can kinda understand what they mean, most of the time you're just watching a guy sit in a stand and shooting a deer whenever it comes around. GRITTY definitely does a better job of showing other animals in the hunt and throwing in all the little bits of information and clips of hunting other species. I like this! Keep doing what you do, its awesome.

Great video! Love the content guys. Also really appreciate the podcasts about canvas cutter. I remember see one of your videos awhile back where you used then in some crazy snow and thought it was awesome! I don't do much backpacking at the moment but the canvas cutter seems legit and the guys seem like great guys who really care for their product and customer satisfaction.

Great film. I loved adding the foxes to the video. I have had a good year predator hunting in new mexico. I have called in 3 grey foxes, bobcats and two coyotes.

I don't know, that pack out looks pretty 'cool' to me. Backpack full of meat and a trophy head atop. Not to mention all the memories that'll be engrained in your mind forever. It's funny that you mentioned he had instructions from his wife. I finally fulfilled my wife's list of getting a coyote this spring. Still waiting to get it back from the tanner.
