This song is so relatable and beautiful it just makes me cry not because I am sad but because I always get through the bad times when I feel like I want to give up there is a light and a voice telling me to keep moving forward because your family still needs you and your story isn't over yet
Land is expensive though and there are cheaper options in thailand. I am thinking the same of retiring to Samui and would like to. It was very peaceful during covid and I liked it in a way more than nowas parts of the island can be commercialised in the heart of chaweng and lamai
I get a shock every time I see how mass tourism can destroy a once beautiful place like Ko Samui. When I first got there in 1981 after an almost 20 hour train and boat ride there were a few grass roof bungalows with a bed and a shower and maybe 5 or 6 restaurants on Chaweng Beach.Nothing else. No hotels, no discotheks, no swimming pool, no motor boats,no noise. The greatest atrractions were the stars at night and a fully intact coral reef.This , my friend, was paradise and not this parody of it.
1983 here. Banana pancakes and magic mushroom cookies. Bamboo shack on the beach front . Yes, pretty much totally destroyed and corrupted now. Phi Phi is worse. 1983 there were no roads. Only way to travel was long tail boats. Diving was like swimming into a kalaidescope of color . Now everything underwater is dead and grey.
1994 and it was already quite different. I flew in on Bangkok airways and Chaweng already had many resorts (and Reggae disco, is that still going?). Outside Chaweng things were still not developed much.
I think I would be really happy to spend a week in a place like this😊 If I get the chance, I definitely want to go there next time❤ Greetings from Korea 🙇♀️

When I see some of the prices (like the sun beds) I can only say it is ridiculously overpriced; the tourists are being scammed. I certainly won't be foolish enough to go there.
You should have called this video “Tourist in Thailand” as that seems to have been your only focus. When looking for a vacation destination I want to see more about the local culture not clueless tourist wondering about.
At 11:49 there is a sign on the beach that says 'Outside food & drink not allowed'. Beaches in Thailand are public land. Koh Samui, the island of ripping off the mug punter tourists. 😂
If u like crowd beach with resort lady bar and nasty farang then ko Samui is the place to be If u like more real sutentil thailande then no go there U 20 years too late But no worry there r many other island without lady bar and all the farang who go with it

Having just returned from Ko Samui, I can say it is very overrated. There is a lot of poverty, we were told 70% of the population is officially classed as poor, and it shows. The public toilets are an absolute disgrace! It is a third world part of Thailand with beautiful beaches and stunning scenery that relies on the reputation of a few ‘glam’ resorts. As for the electrical wiring…oh dear!
Samui is the high income province in Thailand. If you consider 70% in Samui are poor, 95% of Thai are poor, and, I don't know, you may be right. I visit Samui countless time for the last 30 years, and I am know what it is. I am Thai anyway.
Where is Thailand ??? The answer is very simple ! You find Thailand , where more Thai-Families make hollidays on the beach , than farangs !!! So you can say that Koh Samui is today only an island for tourists , and it is not more the real Thailand !!!
