Our troy-bilt mower wouldn't start without spraying starter fluid in there. I tested the spark plug, air filter, fuel filter; the usual suspects and got nothing. I decided it was a problem with the carb.
This carburetor replacement was bought off amazon for $16.99 and works on a bunch of Kohler motors, not just the SV530. I walk through replacement by the seat of my pants, but it's pretty easy. I also talk through how to do a tune-up and a few other diagnostic test. Make sure you have power to the fuel actuator on the bottom of the carb when the key is on! That's important for start up.
It was cheaper to buy this whole carb than the rebuild kit.
