This was the best review of these two shoes I've seen. Great job. Looking at both of these shoes I was afraid they'd be too narrow which is a problem I sometimes have with shoes like this. I normally wear a 9 1/2. I went with the regular fit Koio in size 9 and couldn't be happier. Such a beautiful well made shoe and they're super comfortable. Thanks for the review.
Great review and comparisons to the CP. Shot and edited in your usual great style and direction as always. I bought 3 pairs of CPs in 2017 which is still going strong (all white, all black and taupe suede), the leather remains buttery smooth as it’s worn in. However, l bought a pair of CP Achillies in all grey in 2021 and noticed the leather is much stiffer than before - I got a £99 gift voucher from a friend and purchased during a sale at END so it cost me £99 in the end! I also purchased a pair of all white CP B-Ball Lows and TBH, this is so much more comfortable than the Achillies with roomier toe box. Plus the leather on BBL are better and softer in my opinion. Since then, l have looked other brands and my most recent purchase was a pair of Artisan Lab Classic Sneakers in black vintage in 2022 for £150 which is much better value with similar quality as CPs. Worth checking out.
@@adamwest5625 I appreciate you sharing your thoughts! I think I have a similar experience as to some of the Achilles seem to use a different type of leather making them a bit stiffer.
Like some other comments, I still prefer my CPs. For me it really comes down to the silhouette. One other thing about CPs are the sole as they use a margom that lasts much longer than others. Great vid! So much attention to detail!
Common Projects, all day every day - NO alternatives will satisfy the urge & - wait save sale but get the CP if you want the minimalist sneaker grail !!
as I own both of them, I would definitely go for Koio because of price point and the aesthetic they both given are the same. The bit wider toe box of Koio really give more ease comfy feel if you wear them all day long and your feet expand over time. plus, you would occasionally find Koio Capri on sale while CPs has none
Love your commentary on the details! All the detailing differences make CP a much better shoe for me, especially with all the logos on the KOIO and wider toe box which is less sleek. I do think that curved line on the KOIO rear-side looks good though but without it is nice as well.
i love common projects but for me personally, they are some of the most uncomfortable shoes I have owned. I treat them more like a dress shoe and definitely not a daily driver.
Kinda hard to have an unbiased review of the 2 sneakers when they are sponsored by one of the companies no??? I'd still go with the Koios since they are cheaper and better quality.
Great channel and amazing review ! I just ordered a piar of powder blue Achilles in nubuck and pebble KOIO Capri . Hopefully they will exceed my expectations. I currently have a few pairs of Beckett Simonon Reid’s and morgen trainers
You can wait - I wait 6 years for White Lows on sale !! In the meantime got black, blush & grey all at minimum 40% off & new. The idea is to Wait You will find them Grailed, Nordstrom, Cettire, End & SSENSE one of them will click one day with your size & your price. But don’t pay that retail to anything else, you will still not be able to stop that itch & will cringe when you see people wearing CP while wearing Koio or whatever. Also considering CP will be 20 years (2004) you are paying for true design innovation & yea maybe construction can be better with Northampton & yea magbe Oliver Capbell is fair price but NOTHING IS COMMON PROJECTS. Buy less, buy better & buy for life !’ ❤ dope channel
Awesome video man! Just a quick questions, which generation are those Koio Capris you feature in the video? I have the option to purchase the 1st or 2nd generation. I've heard that the 2nd gen does away with the Margom which is a bummer, that the toe box is more spacious and the insole is different. Which one would you recommend to purchase?
Hi The Aesthetic Minimalist. I am a big fan of your channel, and I have used your videos to inspire my style! I hope to build a larger wardrobe that I take pride in, and as a college student I am deciding between careers. Could I ask what you do for a living?
You are tying your shoelaces incorrectly. The "bow" should be horizontal, not vertical. Cross your laces left over right, bring the left lace (which is now on the right hand side) up and through to form the first knot. Then make a "bunny" ear with the right lace (which should now be on the left hand side) and tie your bow.
It really isn't that hard to keep white sneakers clean. Use quick wipes after wear when there are noticeable spots is all it takes for regular clean. You only need to do deep cleaning like twice a year.
@@theaestheticminimalist thanks, watch is super clean. Koio's are the closest representation to CPs I've seen but something about that shorter toe box on the CP that remains undefeated.
Hey Val, do you wear boots in the winter or mostly sneakers? Would love to see your boot collection if you have one. I try to stick with sneakers all year round lol but want to some ideas. So far I only like the Common Project "Hiking" boots aesthetically.
Hi Lex, glad you left a comment. I do wear boots, but there're only two pairs in my collection right now. I'm looking to replace my suede ones with a higher quality pair but still intend to keep it just two pairs. I think I'll make a video once I get the new ones in. I have a video dedicated to the other pair of boots I bought last year if you are interested in checking it out.
Oh, it's the Joy Sports Coat from Hugo Boss. Previous season and no longer available. www.nordstrom.com/s/boss-joy-slim-fit-zip-front-wool-blend-sport-coat/7021378?siteid=J84DHJLQkR4-1NCmvw9i9lythRWyS6GROg&color=BLACK&J84DHJLQkR4&sp_source=rakuten&sp_campaign=J84DHJLQkR4
I too been wondering about these premium style of sneakers but I'm worried about the achilles. I like to walk around in spring and summer, like if I'm out at brunch and I walk home after wards, that's a 30-40 minute walk and I might do that several times a week (walking from work). These are zero drop and flat footed right? Are the soles ok for walking around?
@@theaestheticminimalist Koio capri, Oliver Cabell low and/or greats royale. Also interested in if the heel doesn't rub and if they are insert friendly. I wouldn't be working out in them or anything, but just casual walking around even on a weekend in between venues I may end up doing like an hour of city walking.
The Koio looks great as well, but I prefer CPs. What I don't like in Koios is that the heel is bit bulky because of extra piece of leather + that padding and doesn't really match to the sleek front. Also in Europe the CPs are 80-100$ cheaper than Koio.
@@theaestheticminimalist Yo, just want to say that I love your content and style. No. Both were being sold in same online-store Farfetch Europe for retail. The price for Koio was around 410 euro (~425 USD) and for CPs was 330 euro (~342 USD). Now it seems that Koio are not being sold there anymore. The reason why Koio are priced lower than CPs in US is, because they sell directly to consumers while CPs are usually sold through some retail store. That means that if a store decides to sell Koio outside the US the price would be 40-50% more and end up more expensive than CPs. So only people in US the Koio has better value. Everywhere else CPs wins in every way.
