Monica had significant impact in entire Cantopop. It's often citied by the critics that Cantopop was largely inspired by J-pop and it's not hard to see why.
@@MohammadDishan777 Cantopop started way before Leslie Cheung or Jpop influences. Sam Hui - aka the God of Song - arguably did the most to popularise it decades before, he was originally inspired by Elvis and the Beatles. There were other great singers like Paula Tsui, Roman Tam, Jenny Tseng who all had long careers. Every generation has its heroes. "Monica" was a refreshingly different song and sort of heralded a newer generation of Cantopop stars.
