I haven't been fishing there for a while. Usually in the winter Tacoma public utilities will perform work on the dam. This means at times they will lower the level of the lake a considerable amount. Looking at their website today the water level is at 1,168.35 feet of elevation or 38.65 feet below full pool level. They will also let out extra water if we are experiencing wetter than normal weather conditions. So it's always best to check their website before you make the trip. Not a problem for kayak anglers this time of year as we have the entire lake free of boats. I have launched my boat a few times when I probably shouldn't have. It can be pretty shady at times when you don't have any concrete left to get traction to pull it back out. It is better to be safe and use a kayak or small car topper boat in these conditions.
